OK another one

Bid on this coin and then its gone..... Hi everyone, Hope you are finding little treasures for your coin collections in this tuff market. I want to share with you another of my stories about bidding with online auctions. Since I can not find any more QUALITY additions for my love, the 1909 to 1933 Lincoln cents, I find myself looking for other gems to pick up. I was bidding on a 1960's Deep Cam half dollar at one of the online auction houses. I choose this coin because of its low popula

Many responses and all good How is everyone doing? I really appreciate all the responses I received on my first two journals. Boy did you friends OPEN my eyes with some of your stories. I will not share them in the open as I feel that would violate the trust you have shown me but again many confirmed my feelings on certain subjects and many confirmed suspicions and some just shared their interests in collecting. My next journal will probably be more vanilla in content as I plan to write a

ebid YOU CAN HAVE IT I DON'T WANT IT

You get what you pay for No fees No sales I have been a member of ebid since 11-08-08 won two tee shirts in the buddy point auctions. I wasted hours listing coins tjhat I sell every day on ebay at a lower price why not the listings are free. To bad I sold next to nothing. I bought a few things and only got ripped of twice not by getting lousy coins by getting nothing at all. ebid was very helpful and maybe they might even anwser my E-mails someday. Last Journal For A While

Yea I gave MY EXPERTISE ADVICE Friends; We all love the journals and read them every chance we have. Recently (for the past six months) wow that's a long time. I have been unemployed, if I was not self employed it might have been easier (I cannot collect unemployment) so I sold everything that was not nailed down to the floor. I did manage to hold on to my wife ( she cooks so good I don't need restaurants) and of course I held on to the coin sets I have grown to love and then there's the dog

EVEN MY COINS HAVE E D?

NO........It's not the E D you take the pills for! Hi all..........again! Here's is another coin with E D? Environmental Damage. This will go to NGC when the other comes back from NGC. I will make out the paperwork to send it to NCS, to be conserved and then sent to NGC to be graded and then sent back to me. I wonder if it will look as nice as this one? They say NCS works wonders. I wish I knew what the environment did to that coin. I checked the NGC Bibliography on World coins f

MY 1945 CAME BACK A ZERO!

I guess it looked like it turned black from something? Hi all! The results are in, and just as I figured. "Environmental Damage" was the verdict on my 1945 KM13A Penny. I guess all the black stuff on the coin made it hard to grade, so it must have come from the environment. I guess if it were green it's the PVC? That is an expensive coin to throw away. I asked them to describe the"damage" and see if it was worthy of NCS conservation. No answer. Email says they shipped the lot already

I-BID----E-BAY-----PROXI-BID

SEEMS TO BE THE DISCUSSION OF THE WEEK (AMONG MY FRIENDS) Friends; I don't know what all the talk is about I-Bid, I guess a lot of my friends here in the club can save money selling coins there. I logged on today to check out the Morgan Dollars. If you are a collector of Morgans you will get a better price on Proxibid. There were no great catches and actually everything was like a proxibid de-ja-vu . Most of the coins were raw (looked like the coins I sold last month), and the coins that were

MY SET SELLING TEST EXPERIMENT

What would a dealer offer you? Friends; I read all the hoopla of I need to sell and I wondered what if I had to sell? Well if you have a great set (good luck) It dose not matter where you are in the ranks Your coins are gray sheeted. So if you are thinking of selling your "pride & joy" first check on the crappiest price you will get offered = gray sheet value. If you think people would go overboard to purchase your coins (they would have your coins at the same grade already). So as a perso

The #1 1971 proof set is also the first to go Greeting all! Well, I'm finally retired from the Air Force and moved to Columbia SC. It's been 4.5 months since, and still looking for a job. The retirement and disability is only half of what I was bring in. The resumes are in and still being put out on a daily basis. I have a wonderful wife at my side, who is doing the majority of the work, since she used to do resume screening, and knows what to look for when looking AT a resume. My 3 kids

PAUL IS ONE OF MANY QUITTERS!

FeeBay is a losing proposition Hi all! Just a short addendum to Paul's journal. A few of us abandoned FeeBay almost 2 months ago. We aren't looking back. I paid the $49.99 for a lifetime of free listings and no FV fees. You may list in several ways and get up to 5 images, per listing, as Paul said. Free T shirt too! Personally I have had more good sales, with no fees I didn't ask for. I have a lot more people looking too. Here's the link to see or join: http://us.ebid.net/perl/norma

I just quit FEEBAY .I am tired of the fees

No limit to how many items you sell.I jist listed over 25 items and NO fees whatsoever. My ID is rebelcoins,if you want to find me. I spent over 135.00 last month on e-bay fees. That was just 1 month. I will save over 1300.00 a year. In a weird economy, why would anyone want to throw their money away. I encourage everyone to come there

Another New Orleans Half Eagle

First, an 1893-O Half Eagle Now, an 1894-O Half Eagle There goes my savings for a Charlotte or Dahlonega Half Eagle! In a recent journal I mentioned my intent to save up and go for my most expensive Half Eagle yet. But a funny thing happened along that path and that came in the form of 2 different years of New Orleans minted Half Eagles both AU55. The 1894-O had a pretty low mintage of 16,600. Yep, came across the 1893-O (image below) and won it for a song (IMO). Now an 1894-O was up for aucti

Playing with lights while I wait for my new camera.. part II

Well new camera arrived In Auto mode, under the same light.. without a tripod, so exact same conditions as the camera before.. Here is the same coin, I spent the same minimal time and tried to have the light the same too.. and just a few snaps.. picked the best, cropped, resize to 600 on the long side and here you go.. A lot of improvement I think, and I can do MUCH better ! so with a tripod and 2 lights, and lots of practice, I should be set..

2005 Australia $1 proof mule..

Yes, I got one.. Well, my $1 error signature set is going to have something special in it soon (I think). Wasn't sure if I would ever get one of these.. I have asked NGC if they will designate mule for my latest aquisition A mule is defined as a coin struck with dies not intended to be paired together Australia's 2005 proof set contained a proof $1 with the "dancing man" reverse The 2006 set contains the traditional "mob of roos". No 2005 proof $1 "mob of roos" was ever struck in 2005.

Morgan Dollar Collection Addition

and 3 days Hello fellow collectors! It's a year for me too! Plus a few days, but who's counting. Just remember one thing.......it's all your fault. Every member of this Society is to blame for my addiction to this hobby. A year ago I started to enter a few NGC graded Silver Eagles and my PF 70 2006 Franklin Commems. It was a great place to keep my meager sets in order and an excellent "offsite" data base. As a few of you remember(and some wish to forget)I became a paying member a whi

Those were the days

Just think of the fun to open a sealed bag of old coins..... Hi everyone, just sent a note to Bully about his fun(or lack of) with half dollars and thought I would share a memory of mine. As a child I would join my father in the basement and open an old bag of coins he just returned from the bank with. He would be so proud to tell me how his buddy would get the coin company to bring him an old bag of sealed coins. Sometimes it would be pennies and other times half dollars! We would spend

Why Coin Collecting is Never Boring!

My latest acquisition that takes my collection off in yet another direction. Most of you that know me and keep up with my journals know my love for signature sets, especially my ?Inspirational Ladies? set. At times, it must seem that I am a ?one? dimensional collector, yet the truth is my collecting interests are wide and varied. The main reason I love collecting are all the interesting and beautiful designs found on coinage. This is the primary reason for my love of type -collecting, to hav

Yellow metal seems to be driving the market.

So I opted for a half dime instead.... It appears that most non-gold coins have softened a bit, I've been able to pick up some silver and copper at what appears to be 'reasonable' prices in this market. Everyone I know is touting the desirability of GOLD, sounds to me as though another rush is about to collapse or at the very least experience a correction. Now I'm sure that your crystal ball is every bit as good as mine, but my investing experience is waving the yellow flag (pun intended) of

The Peroid of Low (and High) Activity

... will continue... Wheew... June was a crazy month. Much like Neverman I was involved a summer course over the last month. I think I eeked out a low A but I'll know later. In the last month what money I've felt like spending on non-necessities has gone into a few non-coin related projects. I finally made something happen that I've wanted to do for over 2 years, but it cost over $400 to do it. Now, looking forward, I don't think I'm going to have too much of a coin budget between now and t

SELLING

I swore I would stay away from raw Morgans Hey Friends; Sent off some coins for auction (raw ungraded Morgans) and was glad to finally get down to all graded coins in my possession. I have 4 graded coins to crack out and submit for next month.I wanted a couple more but didn't have the finances so I did what I swore I would not do, I purchased 3 raw ungraded coins that I will probably regret later. I have not bought a coin in a while and wanted to submit more than 4 coins for grading.
