MY SET SELLING TEST EXPERIMENT

What would a dealer offer you?

Friends; I read all the hoopla of I need to sell and I wondered what if I had to sell? Well if you have a great set (good luck) It dose not matter where you are in the ranks Your coins are gray sheeted. So if you are thinking of selling your "pride & joy" first check on the crappiest price you will get offered = gray sheet value. If you think people would go overboard to purchase your coins (they would have your coins at the same grade already). So as a personified member of the Coin Club don't starve and think you will get the registry value of your coins. I would think you could start at around %75 of value and work your way down.

I put in a recent journal that I notified 60 dealers of my set for sale (TEST). My set for sale was listed PCGS Registry = Six Mile Rick's Morgan Queens, it is currently at #90. I received E-mails from almost all of them but only %30 of them were interested. This will show you don't stop at 20 or 40 dealers, all dealers have their own specialties and if you pick the 20 that don't specialize in your coins you will be upset at the offers.

It is hard times everywhere ( no not everywhere but this is a good buyers technique ). I listed my set and was told my coins looked all toned. WOW! That took about a week to graduate to photographer it is a good thing I was not working or I would have never finished this test. I took all new pictures PCGS only, loaded, along with that I put in details for each. When I finished I was pretty proud of the accomplishments, the set was ready for another look-at. I let the interested buyers know it had been redone and got my final answers.

Well the prices started at 16,500 and I did not put up for competition so there was only one answer needed from each. My highest price offered was 23,000 or better. So you see there is a difference where you go and who you offer to. My best offer was ( hold on to your set till fall when the coin values go up). This will get you more than you can get today, the gray sheet prices are DOWN but will get more in a few months so hold on to your sets and sell something else (car-truck-wife-boat) KEEP YOUR DOG AND YOUR COINS. HAPPY COIN COLLECTING
