About this journal

Friends,

As of first ---- 15 years ago or so we had a FRIENDS list available on our member home page.  A few years ago the FRIENDS were changed to FOLLOWERS by the NGC group.

Now there is not even a followers list on our home page.  Is this Followers list coming back?? Seems the club is moving more and more towards unsocial practices.

Use to be a member could post their journal from their private member page. Now they have to go to Chat Boards to do so. I don't mind it but I know that many members do not use the chat boards. Will there be a link later to post journals from the member page?

Another State Quarter Submission

Friends,  As I was really thinking of getting away from the state quarter series I did decide to do another submission on the quest. A little surprised on the conflicts needed to enter this journal but I see things getting rougher as time passes. Anyway -- seeing that our journals are no longer part of our member page I have a hard time thinking that all is so well with NGC!! This is definitely going to be a rough ride!!  I will renew my membership in a month and try a few submissions.

Nice Indian Jackson

message boards coming soon!! Jackson, You do know that you can send in more than 25 slots per entry right? Oh yeah they will keep the page growing for you to keep filling out those slots now. Ha Ha!! I plan on getting back in the dimes in June. Taking a few months off submitting and just selling for a while. On the pic you took I really liked it. It takes some sun to get through many toned copper coins. If the pic does not look the way you want in the sunlight wait till a partial clou

Thanks CBC!!

WOWSERS CBC, As the Peace 34-S slab says MS63 I am totally in awe of the great looks of that obverse. The reverse must be a mess to average out at 63. Thanks for the pic and time will get you that SWEET 34-S for sure. I had to search for something to show off. Been ATS lately hanging out with a 16 year kid that loves dimes. I think the next year is going to render toward the silver dimes and clads for me. Enjoy building your sets all!!!

This place needs to liven up a little!!

Where did all the new coin pics go? Friends, O-K so we went through some dramatic changes in the club. We still purchase coins no matter, so where are all the new additions? It's time for everybody to get back to collecting coins around here. The day started off good with work and my wife and grown kids were going to a movie ( The Shack ) and lunch. Well it all blew up somewhere when someone was worried about me and my will. That must have been one heck of a movie!! It tore the whole

New Chat Boards is up!!

This is going to take a little time to adjust to. Friends, I finally got into the chat boards today after work. WOW -- everything is so different that you are totally lost from the start. Have patience though as you will get use to the new platform. I posted in the money market and even added a pic of a coin from my computer data. That is a great ++ now with the easy new downloading available. Rick

A good start for 2017

Adjusting to new rules. Friends, Well, The new year started with adjustments made to fit in sorta speak. A few posts started on no more PCGS coins have been adding up of which I don't get into as I don't do much accusations with not knowing the full truth behind the smoke screen. The posts read like women in a salon talking about yesterdays dramatic soap opera. So with that said I have sent all my sales and trade set PCGS coins off to new collectors that do not build sets here in the cl

Good Luck on Competition Sets!!

I had a GREAT year! Friends, The year ended up pretty nice this year with all my State Quarter submissions. I helped a couple sets and also completed my set. Of course I sold around 6 keepers to help others complete their state quarter set but I can always make more. Next year is already in the plans for some great submissions. I have silver dime varieties, modern commemorative dollars - MS, and of course another state quarter submission at NGC now to start the beginning of the new coin year

All Tied up in State Quarter grading!!

My grading that is!! Friends, I have been searching over 150 rolls so far to get a few nice keepers to add to my set graded. I thought at the time it would be a breeze and then I got all kinds of work added to my daily program. It has been all I can do to get some midnight hours to search the rolls I have and now I am adding 24 dates at 10 rolls each to boot. ---- Numismatic Searching Nut!!! A Modern COMMEMORATIVE weekend planned

Many bids this week working both ends of the sets!! Friends, As usual I am always trying to figure out a new direction in collecting coins. I have many Modern Commems to send in for grading and at the same time I am building a dansco set on the raw end. It is great to complete a raw set as well as a graded set of each series I compete in. I have a blast at both sides without the total letdown of grading and expenses. Going for some TOUGH hole fillers in my RAW set this week. ---- Wish me l

My Latest Loss

A little reverse psychology on collecting!! Hey friends, Well this week ended up in a trade with another member. I have been working on 1979 proof set a couple years now. Only missing a few keepers to complete I traded a sweet 1988 Lincoln PF70rdUC for a 1979 25c Type 2 70UC and some cash. As this is a farewell to the Lincoln I decided to post a pic for perfection. Good Bye and Enjoy To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

National Parks Quarters

Submission from NGC has made it home!! Friends, I sent in a parks quarter submission a few weeks ago. Hoping to get a few top pops for the rank 1 set to boost his points spread. Well I do think NGC was a bit tight on the grades but I did come up with a MS68 Peace Memorial S mint which he could use. This is the first and only for this coin and Pinnacle Collection is glad to add it to his set. I started a set myself which should be a fun new addition. There are many extra coins if someone

National Parks Quarters

Latest Venture --- over 100 count coin submission!! Friends, With the Statehood quarters I found being all submitted I decided to move on with the Parks. This submission will have many "S" mint business strikes for set builders that are needing them. I got some great rolls from wdrob and others a couple years ago but didn't have the funds to submit them. 2 weeks at NGC and still at RECIEVED level I do expect the BULK submission to show the grades soon. This will be an exciting new set ad

Always Looking for MORE!!

Buy, Sell, Trade --- I need MORE raw coins!! Friends, As usual I do a post every year looking to get your raw mint sets, mint package material, and rolls of coins. I have run out of stuff to search through and looking for anything you might have in a box, dresser, or on a shelf. I build albums complete and sell them to young and old collectors wanting them. Mostly 1940 to date coins including Modern Commemorative and business strike sets. If you have a cluster of rolls or mint sets sitti

State Quarter Submission

What a blast!! Friends, It took a year to get the grading funds up. I finally got the chance to send in all the nice quarters I saved for the state quarter set. With 86 MS quarters and 19 SMS quarters I am down to only 14 coins missing from my set "Rick's Keepers" to complete it. I was also pleased to help another set (P.C.) with additions to get very close to the NGC top rank. One more submission later on should achieve the goals for both sets, his and mine. Also helping (V.P.) as his s

50,000 State Quarters

Far more than I even imagined!!! Friends, It has been a while since my last submission. A few years ago I decided to build a modern set of State Quarters. Grabbing a large group of rolls I started the simple search to find MS67 coins in fresh mint rolls. I had been watching RollingCoins come up with so many whoppers for sale that I thought why not give it a try. My first submission was a tough lesson on the series with MS64 to MS66 grades with a couple MS67's. Good study on overall strik

The GOLDEN Ike

golden memories rekindled Friends, As I had some extra time today to enjoy the coins in my sets I noticed many missing pics. Catching up on Lincolns, Jeffersons, Washingtons, Roosevelts, and Ikes pictures brought back some memories as to when I found them. I had to stop when I got to the Ike in the pic below as I never entered pics after I had it graded and forgot just how beautiful toned it was. Still some pics to add today if I feel up to it but here is todays special. My Golden 1976 I

Coin Photos 2

Free download Reading Jeremy's post I decided to check out his pics. He is getting some good pics entered. Getting the auto focus to pass the slab and get to the coin inside is a challenge for sure. I wanted to give those that have no editing download a fun cropping download that I have been using the past year. For larger pics and round cropping -- http;//www.photoscape.org Free and Fun!! The end of 2015 as we know it

Getting ready for 2016 Friends, As for the usual every Jan. 1'st I do a order from Wizard Coin Supply to get more coin flips for submissions that are on the back burner. With each January poly-flip order I usually get a Intercept Shield coin album. This order today was 500 flips and a Franklin album. I probably have a dozen or so ungraded Franklins here and figured it would be a fun album to fill. Was looking for a Modern Commemorative album but they weren't available in Intercept Shield ye

A Roosevelt Weekend Treat

CANDY-TIME!! Friends, This week I was talking to David Sachs about modern toned coins that are available. He is working on a very nice toned 20th Century type set. Even though he already has his Roosevelt dimes I told him I had some great candy dimes for a later submission. Of course by yesterday he was curious to see them. Not worrying on focus I took a dozen or so pics this morning and sent them to him. I did a small collage treat for your viewing as well this weekend. Have a great w
