About this journal

Friends,

As of first ---- 15 years ago or so we had a FRIENDS list available on our member home page.  A few years ago the FRIENDS were changed to FOLLOWERS by the NGC group.

Now there is not even a followers list on our home page.  Is this Followers list coming back?? Seems the club is moving more and more towards unsocial practices.

Use to be a member could post their journal from their private member page. Now they have to go to Chat Boards to do so. I don't mind it but I know that many members do not use the chat boards. Will there be a link later to post journals from the member page?

I promised a pic today--SILVER EAGLE

Not what was expected though. Friends, I did say yesterday I would show the liberty gold. As things are working out today I decided to do a pic for the Silver Eagle fans in the club. I purchased a 1995 MS Silver Eagle for my daughter around 10 years ago. I think it was around $12 or so. She still has it in the case it was purchased in and it is starting to look pretty nice towards a full patina spread gold tone. I decided on the reverse pic of the coin as it has a better spread on the t

PIC #2

1817 Bust 50c Possible thinking here is that I can not figure the words out from the previous piece due to the possibility it is a fake and was made on a foreign coin. Still the weight is perfect Later--- To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

1817 Bust Half Dollar

O-K Folks here is my latest puzzle Friends, I went to the Gold store to pick up a few gold pieces. I grabbed 2-XF $5 pieces = 1894 and 1900. I also got a XF $10 piece from 1882. Then I was handed a mystery. I will show you very soon a 1817 Bust half. This coin had something on it previous to minting. Check over top of the date and you will find the raised letters from a past coin running from under one side of the bust to under the other side. I have tried every angle but still can't read i

The Reverse of the 1986 $10 Gold Eagle

I couldn't resist showing the perfect reverse of this piece. Friends, As usual every obverse has the reverse pic showing up sooner or later. So here is a large pic of the reverse gold eagle for those of you that have not seen the artful piece yet. Later---Rick To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. coin shopping :)

Not for myself but for another collector. Friends, I had a couple morgans that were raw and offered them to yankeejose. He will be getting the one I did pics journal on yesterday. I took the time today and visited my friend that owns a silver and gold store. I checked out the morgans he had that were raw and below AU condition. Got a handful of Carson Cities--1878,1890,1891 to send pics to Yankee and see if he is interested in them. As I was there for around 4 hours we talked about everythi

My Heritage Winnings showed up today

Funny how plans to add a top pop can change over the weekend. Friends and Society, I recently informed everyone that a sweet Roosevelt 1981-D MS68FT was on it's way to a new home. At the time I thought my house was the home right??? Well when Todd Peters got home and went through all the e-mails and read up on journals he sent me a message asking me to keep a eye out for another one. WHAT? I replied. With only 10 coins in NGC slabs I would be eligible to play the lottery and win a few bu

My Coin Pal is Back Home!!

A Journal on FRIENDSHIP due to COINS!! Hey Guys, Well it was really nice to finally get a e-mail from TPETERS last night letting me know he was back home from a 2 week stay with family and friends for his sons graduation. The time was not really that long but when your coin bud does not have a laptop to keep in touch the time seems doubled. We usually e-mail once or twice a week discussing different posts and coins of course. I sold around 24 of his proof coins listed on my page for sale w

WHAT A PAIN!!

Focus or Tones I spent a bit of time trying once again to get the right picture to load for the 1957D MS66FBL. I could get a great focus with no color or a great toned pic with no focus. I kept trying until I at least had most of the color and the bell lines. To get the right angle for color and focus seems impossible!!! I was trying to get the right pic for Dimefreak but do not feel so successful. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below

A new QUARTER

Finally adding to the quarter set Friends and Society, I received my latest addition to my quarters yesterday. A nice lustrous 1974 D NGC MS67 with a pop of 20/0. I don't think one will be easy to obtain so it has gone into G G's Keepers for now. Here is a pic I took earlier---- To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. Thinking of selling your SILVER or GOLD SCRAP soon.

Wait a couple more weeks. Friends and Society, I have looked into my Chrystal Ball lately. The one thing that came out strong was the rise in the value of SILVER and GOLD of course. It is not far off. Only two weeks so it won't hurt you to wait and hold onto your scrap precious metals if you were thinking of selling. You heard it from me. LATER----

No sun for pics today

Went for the lights Friends and Society, As I planned to work on pics today and was left with a cloudy day I kept looking for other options. I did come up with a cooler and lights directed into it. Lets see what came of it as I am just checking the pics on a 1926 MS65 Peace Dollar. The rev is white with a wide luster band around 50% behind the eagle that is hard to get a good pic on. Access Denied!!

Well I expected it. Some people just can't handle the truth or do not want to be bothered by it. Well there it is. Another journal reply that I got booted off of. That is two for the life of membership and 2 for this month. Ah well it's all good and there really was not a deal to be had anyway. I got the weekend off and will try to get up some more pics this weekend. Hope the sun is out good in the morning and I get some great shots. Happy Coin Collecting To see old comments for this

Precious Metals

Are they crashing?? Wow I see that gold is going below $1600 an oz. tomorrow and silver is perching at $29.00. Did they find a few good mines or is the value of our dollar really worth something again?? Sometimes it is hard to keep up with all the bureaucracy involved to come to such conclusions. A great week to purchase a bunch of dimes

AND FINALLY!! A MACRO-LENS FOR THE CAMERA Friends and Society, I purchased a top rank proof set (1999) from Todd Peters sets that I had for sale on my page a couple weeks ago. I did not have enough money so he let me pay when I could. I finally got a nice check for a house I am building with my son so the debt will be paid this week. I checked Todds page and noticed that he had a large amount of dimes for sale or trade. This year Todd has taken his MS dime set from rank #20 or so to rank #
