About this journal

Friends,

As of first ---- 15 years ago or so we had a FRIENDS list available on our member home page.  A few years ago the FRIENDS were changed to FOLLOWERS by the NGC group.

Now there is not even a followers list on our home page.  Is this Followers list coming back?? Seems the club is moving more and more towards unsocial practices.

Use to be a member could post their journal from their private member page. Now they have to go to Chat Boards to do so. I don't mind it but I know that many members do not use the chat boards. Will there be a link later to post journals from the member page?

Two Months ( felt like six)

I didn't even pay for it yet Society Friends; I have seen allot of nice coins purchased over the last few months. Not having the finances yet I could enjoy reading and looking at your beauties. I went to an auction tonight and won the bid on a 1891 CC MS-64,fair price. I wrote the registration numbers down and entered it in my set. That felt soooo good to see points added, yep I'll get my winning e-mail later and pay for it.Points bumped up over 30,000 "FEELS GOOD" HAPPY COIN COLLECTING

SUBMISSION OVERDUE

Finally enough money for grading Collectors and Friends; It has been 3 months since I sent my last submissions in for grading.I had 40 coins to submit in March but no funds. This submission will be the final (probably not) raw coin submission for my Morgan Dollar sets. As much as my wife hates my collection I was surprised when I asked her to write a check and mail them in and she just asked if Monday would be O-K. My wife does not collect but she can sure spend a buttload on non-col

O-K I will be the first

A deal for who with a sweeter pot? I am one of many of us that are at hard times. Recently I have had to auction off coins and have another coin auction in a week or so.I have taken a 20% to 35% under value to survive. Namvette68 your first idea is good 15,000 members putting a little money in a pot. At $50 per member it would be $750,000.00. If I didn't care about the rules I would be bold enough to put my coins up for sale on this site for full value+. Your heart seems in the right place, bu

A set without a view

They look great, but only to me I spent about 3 hours today trying to load snapshots into my sets. I know I am computer illiterate so I had my 16 year old son help me. We managed to upload a file in my computer but could not leave the box to transfer. Anyway I did put my 1902 MS-66 up for background and when I logged out of home page I got a 21" view of my coin. I had to sit there in amazement for a while, I never saw it so large. Maybe I'll figure it out later. HAPPY COIN COLLECTING

Economy Down Huh

Sell what ya don't need Well my auctioneers finally got their new store running & had the auction on my coins that sat there for 2 months. I guess it was a good thing because the coins I purchased 6 months ago sold for more than 30% over what I paid for them. Maybe because of bad stock investments people are turning to coin investments. Whatever the situation I sure am pleased to have sold what I didn't need anymore at a profit. "I love this hobby". HAPPY COIN COLLECTING

No Brakes

I'm running up ranks so move over. March 1st I didn't have a clue what was going on, or a job. It sure slows down the purchases of my collection. My coins are now graded 50%-o k grades.I've been working 3 weeks, my wife was glad to get a 1500 dollar check for bills. My 50s proof sets will auction on www.proxibid April 1 with western auction. I guess the set I'll miss the most is 1999s silver 9 piece they were beautiful.Anyway got my grades--got my job--doing the auction--have 50 more coins to

RE; emergency brake

Well its been a ride I finally got my grades on coins sent in. A couple good ones and the rest medium and I put them in my sets. The other coins I sent for grades finally got there so in 20 or so days I can add those to my sets.I had sent some coins in for auction but they moved this month. They did e-mail me and said I would see sales by end of the month. I have wished I kept all 1950s proof sets but I do need the investment for my morgan dollars sets. Woke up this morning, got my coffee,c

Release the emergency brake

I can tell that nothing has moved the last week of march, maybe the emergency brake is on. Delivered-24 coins for 15 day grade 2-09-09, march -01 still no grades. Mailed 24 more coins 2-20-09 no e-mail from acceptor that it showed up. Filled out job applications and called for work but not one person called me all week. Sent 6K-8K worth of coins to an auction house which decided to move this month so the coins are on a shelf instead of in an auction, yet they haven't set an auction date. So no

I frame post & beam houses in the mountains of South Carolina. I have a few hobbies but I wanted one more and that became the morgan dollar set. I have been to shows, auctions & read countless amounts of material on the subject. I never thought it would be so time consuming and educational. Now that I think I know everything I just enjoy finding a good coin once in a while for my set.I started out with a set of four rub down dollars you couldn't read. From there I purchased around 50 ung
