  1. I have complained before that more higher end coins never seem to be for sale on the marketplace between collectors. Well @Coinbuf was gracious enough to notify me of a nice 2 cent proof on the PCGS forum marketplace. I ended up getting if for what I think is a very reasonable price compared to auction results. PF65+ CAM / CAC (green bean).

  10. At Summer FUN, I submitted three forms to NGC. One of them contained five British Crowns. I’ve written about these before. I bought the 1935 Crown across the counter, raw, from Chards of Blackpool, England. It was marked and priced as an “XF Plus” coin. I thought it was undergraded. NGC has confirmed my belief. It has been graded MS65. The 1937, which shows OBVIOUS err, umm, CABINET FRICTION, even to me, has been graded MS62. The 1951 Festival of Britain Crown, also bought in the magenta box in person, at the Bloomsbury Coin Fair in London, is graded PL65. The 1953 Coronation Crown has graded MS64. And to round them out, the 1960 Crown has led my submission at PL67!!!!

  13. This is my most recent self-indulgence. I love silver dollars, and I like the story of the GSA hoard (and remember it happening).

  15. Just so the community knows.....Andrew and I talked over PM and worked everything out. His initial post was not worded well, by his own admission. And my reply was off the charts as well. I would not have responded like I did if he had discussed it like he explained things to me. I'm glad we worked it out......he's actually a collector before anything else, like most of us here, and he's just trying to get his toes wet and learn more. I'm actually going to help him with a Faustina coin myself.

  19. Well, my little girl strikes again and touched my heart where it counts. I think at 11 years old, she may be the next numismatist in my household, I'm loving it. I was scrolling through some coin and precious metal dealer's websites yesterday and she was right there with me looking at all the cool bullion and silver rounds that are out there now. Of course..... being a HORSE LOVING FANATIC of a little girl (she will always be my little girl!!!!) this one silver round just happened to show up while her gaze was fixed on all the cool and different designs that are available these days. So....... she say's, "Daddy..... I would love to have 'that 'one.....". What does a loving father do???? I think you all know the answer on that one..... Should be here in a week or so.

  20. There is a lot of color in this toning that is hard to capture. I’m excited to start my journey with this coin.

  21. We were apple picking today and the orchard just happens to be up the road from the coin shop. I saw this coin last time I was in the store it was a already a good deal at $85 but I heckled it down to $75 because the case had some scratches on it.

Here is a nicely toned, to me atleast, merc. with rotated die. I have an album as well I have started working on cherry picking raw examples as I see them. Surprisingly there are a LOT of nice mercs raw in the wild. All the other coins in the album are high grades with full bands, but this one I had to give a spot

  26. Still in the GSA holder ungraded. The nasty hit on the chin is rather distracting but the color is nice.

    My Find of the Day

I have not seen any of these for almost 9 months I was beginning to wonder if they had all been snagged up and put away. They don't look as nice as they did a year ago but still fun to find

  31. I just received both the 2021 ASE "one ounce uncirculated coin" and the "reverse proof two-coin designer edition." I like silver coins, and I love the walking Liberty half dollar, so I was curious about these. I subscribed to the uncirculated coin, so I didn't have to go through the Mint's website crashing nonsense to buy it; I did go through that nonsense to get the "designer edition" proof set. Oddly, I like the uncirculated coin's beautiful satin finish far more than I like the reverse proof. But the good news is that the beauty of the satin finish makes me optimistic that I will like the 2021 Morgan and Peace coins that should be coming my way in the next month or so.
