About this journal

Friends,

As of first ---- 15 years ago or so we had a FRIENDS list available on our member home page.  A few years ago the FRIENDS were changed to FOLLOWERS by the NGC group.

Now there is not even a followers list on our home page.  Is this Followers list coming back?? Seems the club is moving more and more towards unsocial practices.

Use to be a member could post their journal from their private member page. Now they have to go to Chat Boards to do so. I don't mind it but I know that many members do not use the chat boards. Will there be a link later to post journals from the member page?

New Sales Option

Seems to be a nice new addition Friends and Society, Up till this week I have had many sets for sale or trade. As usual when someone gets tired of a set they have had for a while the trade option works very well (coins for coins). This also works well when others do not have the funds available to add to their sets. I did 2 trades this week that were a little different option and worked very well. I traded coins for raw bullion and gold chains. Just a new option now available to add any coi

Breaking Up

A week for breaking up sets. Friends and Society, It has been another good week with plenty of work and of course a few coin deals in the works. I sold a Franklin MS64FBL, 2000 millennium Silver Eagle, and a Ike Dollar. Worked up a $1000 trade of three Mocom Silver Dollars for three Silver Eagles so the Eagle set will be broken up now and the Mocom set will grow. I also did a deal on 25 PF70UC State Quarters which is 50% of a perfect set. Along with me breaking up my Eagle set Todd has d

As W.K.F says it----A MESSAGE FROM THE GODS!!!!!!

What a conversation I had TODAY!!! Friends and Society-- The day started off regular----No work so I hung out at a friends business looking for remodel jobs that may come up. I got a small one where a 150' barn wall was falling and 50' of roof was on the ground. I took my tractor and truck full of tools and got the girl standing with most of a ridge look. Tomorrow I will build a temporary wall inside the barn and fix the broken trusses to re construct the block wall that has fallen.

Re Post by W.K.F.

To continue to chats Kerry, It was a blessing to "FINALLY" read a post from you. We have missed you around here --FOR SURE--. I did not find the silver to gold ratio at the end of your journal which was a favorite to see on a regular basis. The pic of the Franklin Cameo is a killer. What a beautiful piece. Take Care my Friend----Keep up the journals. Later----Rick To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

A Thank You to members that help out in need.

I just wanted to take some time and THANK OTHERS!!! Friends, I listed 10 proof sets for Todd Peters to sell while he was in chemo. I did sell 4 full sets and have 6 left and wanted to thank the guys that purchased them again (they know who they are). I have decided to break the remaining sets up. So if you build proof sets by variety now is a pretty good chance to snag those modern proofs to fill your slots. The remaining proof coins by variety are listed on my page. Let me know if you a

If you have any interest in 2000 to 2009 complete proof sets at 50% "YEAH" I said half price. Give me a shout and we will work everything out. He does need the cash more than the coins rig

What is POP and What is NOT!!!!

What set of coins should I really purchase??? Friends, I get the questions tossed at me once in a while. --- What are your choices?? --- What do you think of future whatever??? --- Where do you really think the value of this will sit in 5 years??? For me as a collector = Of so many different type of circulated coins to me my sets are irreplaceable proof of history past. The coins of yesterday that I show my friends and their eyes enlarge as they actually try to imagine that the coins are

Re BUY BUY BUY

Words of wisdom MV, I agree with you totally which is why 60% of my coins are pre 1965 and many coins are from 1800s. Of which most have gone up in value and a few have stayed. I do collect some moderns but I try to get the best grade. If you really like a modern series you can get good prices in 69s but when 2000 more grade at 69 well, the price drops. So enjoy collecting them and expect the value to drop. It is not about the money you spend. Its about the money you buy. It is coin collecting

Selling Full proof sets is tough

I have decided to take a easier rout Friends, I have been trying to sell proof sets for two weeks now.1999 to 2009 all NGC pf70UC. I got offers for separate coins but no full set offers. I finally broke down and listed the sets for cherry pickers in the chats money-market. Any coin for the proof sets now 30% off until Friday which is when I will be at the coin show and hopefully sell or trade all of them. Get the hard ones before they are gone. Local Coin Show this weekend

Upstate South Carolina Coin Show Friends, As usual every year I make it to the local coin show to find a few beauties and add to the collection. This year will be no different but with a twist. I am going to take a couple hundred coins to sell to the dealers before the weekend gets started. I have the coins on my page and full NGC proof sets 1999 to 2009 that I am looking to liquidate to purchase other coins that I am more interested in.   If you are a dealer that will be working the cr

NO CHAT BOARDS???

Hmmm things keep disappearing around here I logged into the chats this weekend to read up on different threads started this month. I don't know what went wrong but it sure didn't get repaired before the weekend started. Good luck trying to have a conversation in the chats. Probably messed up when they deleted all those PCGS world coins. Ha Ha

GOOD BYE--2011

Here's to hopes for a better year Friends, Well the last year was a bit in line with the previous one. It will be nice when the country gets things turned around and headed in the right direction. I started the new year out with a clean up on sets. Deciding to upgrade I have pulled out coins and put up for sale or trade. The proof silver eagles were the first to go as I believe there are more collectors of those sets. I did add a few low pop cents to my wishing well collection and a few s

Last Eagles for the year

Too many Eagles this year Friends, As the year started there was a good feeling as I added a MS or PF eagle to the two sets. By the time that the mint offered the no mint mark Sanfrancisco coin I was frustrated. But having the full set I went for the coin anyway. The minting of the bullion without the mint mark just made no sence to me. And now here at the end of the year we have the 25th Aniv. set = a must have for collectors of these bullion COIN issues. I tried to order mine but that d

Will be an interesting week

Started out Sunday with a late lunch. Friends, Sitting in J.Peters parking lot Sunday and Kamakazy pulls up in his car and parks next to us. Hopping out of the car towards me leaving the door open "here hold this" and back to his car. Ahhh, The famous sequential brown label 25th Aniv. 70s set. That would be the first set I have held in hand. He pulls out his black coin holder case, locks up the car and we head in for a bite. I had my wife Glenda with me and togeather we had a enjoyable meal

A night out on the town and a family COIN CONVERSATION???

It's hard to argue with the wife and daughter (across the table) at the same time. Friends, Well Friday night started out great with a pleasant meal at the Outback. My son sitting next to me, wife and daughter across the table. After the meal we started talking about my dauters college next year and a vehicle and out of right field from across the table "UP CAME THE COINS". I have split the coins up if something were to happen to me. My son is to get the Commemoratives, daughter will get

It's time for the GRADING GAME

I renewed my membership and ready to GAMBLE Friends, I finally got around to membership renewal--Elite of coarse. I ordered my mylar flips from Wizard Suply, first 2" and then I called the next day and they fixed the order to 2 1/2" for me. Well I got the flips today so there will be a sweet submission of "MORGANS" heading out soon. I did order 100 flips so that should keep me busy for a little while. I have decided to venture back into the Morgans and also do some Walker Halfs so I may

A few more dimes

A few more points Friends, While working in Fla. I purchased a few silver dimes for one of my sets (and for the mint sets). While there for 5 weeks I had no access to internet so checking the journals was out for a while. Loosing internet contact for that long sucks. I was happy this morning to log on and read journals for the past month and to answer all the e-mails piled up. My 1953 mint set is turning out to be pretty swell even though I had no special intentions for the year. I did take

Silver Eagle proofs

a fun day loading a set Friends, I returned home after a month of working out of state last night. This morning after a cup of coffee I had the great task of loading and cataloging a set I purchased before I left. I had purchased a set of proof eagles from TPETERS but they were recieved after I left to work in Ohio. The set is very nice and missing only one coin----the 1995-W. I'll be keeping a eye out for one but it may take some time to acquire one. It is a great set to add to but I wi

Ready to add a few more coins

After reading the replies to Kamakazy's journal I am sure SILVER will be the choice Friends, No posts lately but keeping up with the journals. Been working out of state this month in Ohio. A couple more weeks and a FAT check will be the trick to pay off next months bills and add a few more coins to the old collection. I'm not sure what I realy want---more silver mint set fillers or more coins for my Custom Set. I have a few lines on some silver dimes but could use some more Mocoms. The posts s

HEY Kamakazy!!!

Your timing will be about perfect. B A, AND of course--- ALL FRIENDS, I am glad you have finally got some sort of answer out of NGC on those coins. It seems they are very busy these days but can't afford extra help. I hope your grades come back great and can't wait to see what your points will do. I am sending off my last payment on TPETERS Silver Eagle Proof set =15,000 points (WOW). Been busy cleaning house "my site page". I put up allot of 69 Coms., eagles, presidents and more. I have ma

new additions to a old set

Finally! a set started last year will get new faces. Friends, Sometimes we start sets intending to build them but get pulled to something else that is easier, less expensive, or faster. So the set just sits there month after month letting you know you have changed your sites. Well my proof silver eagles I purchased last year was a start that actually went nowhere as there were not many good offers for sale but other sets that surely fit the budget. I purchased a nice MS ASE set this year

I just recieved my 2011SSSSS (non SSSSS) ASE

I believe these were trucked in from Pennsylvania Needing the coin for the slot that "NGC" says I have to purchase to actually complete to date. It is a joke that I have 2----2011 American Silver Eagles from 2 mints that are IDENTICAL. And the only people to blame for this is the GRADING COMPANIES we rely on for the best of quality. =NGC & PCGS------ I HOPE THIS SERIES DIES SOON. HAPPY COIN COLLECTING Thanks NGC for including this so-called coin in your set.
