My experience with a photo proof submission and a cool find in my change.
I have recently had the pleasure to submit some of my coins to NGC for photo proofing. Using a five free deluxe photo proof certificate, I selected five coins from my ?Inspirational Ladies? signature set. At the deluxe level, this service is very limited. Coins eligible for submission are all US issues, Canadian coinage since 1858, and British coinage since 1662. The submission form is different also, with Amy having to
I borrowed your best coins for a week,, or2, or3
Friends; Yea I'm guilty of keeping your best coins in my office for a week or two. The large picture RareSov just put in his journal is a perfect size for a back screen on my computer. Every time someone shows off a spectacular coin I like, I right click it and save to back screen on my computer.I clicked stretch on RareSov's picture and the five perth mint set fit perfectly. This will last from 1-3 weeks until another pretty coin picture shows
I have just recently learned of the place and date and wanted to share with my fellow collectors!

An amusing find in my coins.
While sorting through my coins deciding on what I want to focus on and what coins will be sold, I came across and amusing (to me anyway) on the NGC vs. PCGS pricing difference.
I truly feel the ONLY reason PCGS coins are valued differently (mostly higher) than NGC is PCGS graded coins are the only ones allowed in the PCGS set registry. To me, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand this. I follow the precept of "buy the coin and not the holder. Given the

Is this as common as a 1948 New Zealand Penny?
Hello everyone!
I have encounterd a coin to which I have no reference to.
I was told it was listed as a variety in Clapman's Catalog of New Zealand Coin Varieties.
I cannot find any such thing. No ISBN # either.
Anyone?
It is not that I wish to own this coin, but I would like to be more knowledgable.
If anyone has a copy, has heard of the catalog, or knows anything, I would like to hear from you.
This may be just a 1948 NZ penny. Pe
Addition to my colleciton
Well, this week I present the latest addition to my Morgan dollar collection. It is a 1878-P 7/8 Tail feathers. I can't believe the great price I got for it. I got it for less than $85. The coin is in a PCGS holder. The old green holder. I think I will submit the coin to NCS for conservation work and then have it graded by NGC. The coin is pretty dirty and I would like to see it without the dirt and a possible point upgrade does not hurt either. It seems like
Added some really nice coins to my collections this month
July started out with a bang and ended on a bigger than anticipated bang. I was fortunate enough to acquire some really nice Kennedy's which I am happy to report, pushed me into the Top 100 for that collection. I now have 2 collections ranked in the Top 100. My Kennedy's and my Silver Eagles. I still want to add one more Silver Eagle this year, the 2000 in a PF70UC and continue with my Kennedy's, and Morgans.
I was really lucky eno

Hi everyone, here is another addition to my Lincoln Memorial set that I recently acquired. I have been adding to all of my Lincoln set for those of you who have read my recent journals. I still feel the same joy that I did as a child every time I find a new coin for my collection. Isn't it fun. As always, thanks for looking and Happy Collecting.
finally found an old PCGS and NGC slab with a nice coin in it!
I finally found 2 coins needed in my 1909 to 1933 collection of coins. A pcgs old slabbed 1909-s VDB and an NGC 1922 No D cent! A handful of bucks, but over 2700 points in registry value.
Well, I just bought my most expensive coin, from a branch mint but not a half eagle.
Turns out I have been watching a 1856-O Quarter Eagle PCGS AU53, a real nice coin! Only 21,100 minted.
My eBay sales funded the purchase today. So I Made A Best Offer and we came to agreement pretty quickly. It is my biggest point coin now at 2335. And resides in my 1856 Mint Set.
I have a buyer for all 9 of my Proof 1/4 oz American Gold Eagles, so once we do the sale, my 1856-C Half Eagle will be procured
END OF THE DAY OF A FIRST DAY OF THE MONTH-----AND NO ENTRIES
HEY EVERYONE; Well I will start the month out. I did re-download most of my set that I was going to sell at auction (I should have left it until I sold it but I jumped the gun)when I checked the archives I realized I would lose quite a bit. However--it has been enjoyable watching my points value go back to where they belong.I even added a set to accommodate my upgraded coins. I always wondered why so many of you have 6 sets of your
2 Gold MS70s, and a 5oz Panda for a killer deal, you gotta check this journal out!

Third is a 5 OZ Panda which is only one of 30 something I believe and only have some 12 graded a perfect 70! The only Problem I Have at the moment is I cannot find t

I STARTED COLLECTING IN 2006 AFTER A CHERISHED COLLECTION OF FORTY YEARS WAS STOLEN BY AN EX-FRIEND OF TWENTY YEARS (GO FIGURE), SO I STARTED WITH THIS SET.
i HAVE SINCE COME TO COLLECT WAY MORE COINS, BUT THEY DON'T REALLY MAKE SETS. SOME ARE VERY NICE AND MAKE ME HAPPY AND AS FAR AS THAT GOES, THAT'S WHAT COIN COLLECTING IS ALL ABOUT. WHO KNOWS, I MAY PICK A NICE PIECE AND DO A VARIETY SET OR SOMETHING (IT'S HERE I COULD REALLY USE SOME INPUT, MAYBE)I FIND GOLD TO BE MY FAVORITE PIECES AND WO
Time to take a break I've blown my buget again.
I've been looking at the Sunday night Teletrade auctions for a while now, mostly looking for coins to go in the Mercury Dimes short set that I have been working on.I have four left to get and two that will have to be upgraded, those slots are presently filled with coins that don't match the rest of the set. The last four have not been easy to find which is alot of the fun, looking for just the right ones takes time and I have had to expand my sea
Took me to #10 for a short while...
Bought this beautiful top pop 1961 D NGC MS67RD from Teletrade. The NGC pop in this grade is only 43. It put me in the #10 slot for about a day. Someone else added several coins and moved ahead of me, dropping me to #11.
Personal opinion: I think this is one of the best photos I've ever taken of a Lincoln or any other coin for that matter.
Movin' on up...

Sent in 3 sets of the Clad Proofs (minus the 25c and the Prez dollars) and these are the overall disappointing grades. At least the roosies did well!
Two of these coin sets, along with the ungraded quarters and Prez dollars, will be on ebay soon. Keep your eyes open for the listings. I am keeping one set of 69's, along with one of the 70 Roosies and the 70 Kennedy, for myself.001 2009 S BRONZE BIRTH & CHILDHOOD 1C PF 69 RD ULTRA CAMEO 002 2009 S BRONZE BIRTH & CHILDHOOD 1C PF

I have to say again this is a beautiful coin !!
Just missed out on the perfect grade. PF69 ULTRA CAMEO
Other coins in the submission were okay, but one Kangaroo got MS68. Luckily, I picked up a couple more cheap the other day and one is that date. I would like all 3 Aboriginal ones MS70 and have 2 more to try..
My first silver Panda, a 2009, got MS70 !
Send a coin to get CLEANED (altered surface) and then receive a good grade?
Friends; I have often wondered why you would send your coins to the cleaners.I have a few that would be more lustrous with a little buff. I also have 2 NGC graded AU55 that are no doubt cleaned ( they are flat gray and look like they were stamped out of concrete).
What are your chances of getting a nice grade from PCGS after sending the coin to NCS?
If in the future we get a grading standard and all coins that
A picture is worth 1000 words
Let me say first of all that I have had my issues with NGC. In a hobby where a subjective opinion (eye appeal is 1/4th of grade consideration) can mean the difference in a one point grade change and hence THOUSANDS of dollars, it can be quite frustrating when my taste or what appeals to my eye seems to differ from the graders. My coin comes back MS66 worth $400 and it looks like an MS67 $4000 coin to me. After a day of shrugging off the disappointment, I just live
