Send a coin to get CLEANED (altered surface) and then receive a good grade?
Friends; I have often wondered why you would send your coins to the cleaners.I have a few that would be more lustrous with a little buff. I also have 2 NGC graded AU55 that are no doubt cleaned ( they are flat gray and look like they were stamped out of concrete).
What are your chances of getting a nice grade from PCGS after sending the coin to NCS?
If in the future we get a grading standard and all coins that were cleaned are omitted, what would your set be worth? It seems that everyone likes to get their greedy fingers into everything as the proof is shown here today with CAC verified stickers.
I sent in a NGC graded MS65 to PCGS and was marked as cleaned, and put in a genuine holder. She went from $285 value to $20 value over night.
Think about it, there is still plenty of room for another type of quality control sticker on the back of our slabs.
