Antique Stores and Coins...

Generally, the two don't really go together. The few coins I see for sale are generally priced way above current selling trends and/or are priced like every coin is a "rare" coin. I can't help but look when I see coins, medals, tokens and just about anything of and/or related to coins. Sometimes I get lucky and find something I can actually buy, but usually I just pass. Top Pop 1904 USA-Philippines Proof Half Centavo: The Other Side of the Coin

My 1904 USA/Philippines Half Centavo PCGS PR66RB (Combined NGC/PCGS Population 4/0) arrived in the mail today and it is a real beauty much nicer than the Teletrade photos. In the Teletrade photos the obverse of this specimen appeared to be primarily brown. The obverse is actually a beautiful uniform Dark Cherry Red over a pristine mirror surface. The reverse which appeared to be a mix of Red and Brown in the Teletrade photo is actually 90% Red with Dark Cherry Red periphery toning. A truly be

LOW BUDGET COINS

There is always a way to add a few. Friends, I have wanted a flying eagle cent since I saw one. Lately there are not very many people purchasing coins for sale. Well I mean not very many people wanting to pay the value or close. So the coin purchasing bank is nearly empty as I have done a few trades at FMV that were more acceptable than selling at 30% off (not gonna happen here). National Money Show

Excitement and Disappointment The ANA National Money Show is coming to my home of Dallas, TX. I went to the show in Ft Worth a couple of years ago and had a great time. I'm definitely looking forward to this one as well. Unfortunately, I will only be able to go on Saturday, so hopefully there will still be plenty for me to buy. Do yourself a favor and if you're coming from out of town, take a moment to stop by the State Fair. It's lots of fun and you can sample some fried concoctions.

A NEW WIDE AM? This is a reverse of a 2004D Lincoln cent. Looks like a wide AM. I say 2004D because the strike on the obverse is very weak and I can barely make out the D with a 20X glass. Top Pop 1904 USA-Philippines Proof Half Centavo

My latest Top Pop acquisition is a USA/Philippines Half Centavo in PR66RB (Combined NGC/PCGS Population 4/0). The 1904 Proof Half Centavo had a mintage of 1,355. Despite its relatively high mintage compared to other years in this series proof 1904 Half Centavos in this grade are much rarer than the mintage figures would suggest. PCGS Coin Facts lists the "Relative Rarity by Type" for 1904 Half Centavos in PR65RB or above as the rarest in the series and assigns it a grade rarity of R-8.5. Of

Extremely Rare Belgian Congo Specimen Proof 5 Centimes Conservation

SP65 upgraded to SP66 after lovely conservation services. 1917 5 Centimes (KM17) NGC SP66. Extremely Rare. The only one graded by NGC, none graded by PCGS, and the first I have seen after more than a decade of searching. Now graded SP66 after dramatic NCS conservation (Previously SP65). You want what? For one year I have had a want list item. Each major show I would email to confirm my item and would always get a one word confirmation-OK. NEW Part Time JOB!!

Some jobs are FUN!! Friends, I recently took the Gold store owner up on a great and fun job offer. The job is running through all the coins that go through the store and finding the best for higher sales and selecting the batches for e-bay bidders. I have some great coins now but too many of the same thing. Starting to list items in as many places as possible. You guys have been a lot of help and I hope I can pay you back someday.
