Submission Done in Record Time!
I think it may be the time of year or NGC has brought on more graders but I am very pleased with the service once again.
I had sent in two separate invoices on the third and they were labled received on the fifth. One day later they were scheduled for grading. Two days later my two invoices were turned into three, with my tenth once gold eagle getting an invoice all by itself. (don't know why?) Anyway all were in QC and two days after that they were finalized
You can learn to tell the difference between hundreds and even thousands of dollars is you commit to numismatic education. If you do not, it will be we that do making the money, you will just be the mark.
I think I know how to grade? That is not a very friendly statement now is it? That is how a NCG Community member that is not a numismatist makes himself feel better. You that want to buy already graded coins, I have the perfect suggestion, pay for my NGC membership and you can buy from auc
It takes time to obtain the education to tell a MS-64 coin from a MS-65 but once you have obtained the knowledge you can possible save thousands of dollars in one purchase.
I think I know how to grade? That is not a very friendly statement now is it? Since there are those of you that want to buy already graded coins, I have the perfect suggestion, pay for my NGC membership and you can buy from auction houses, since you cannot tell as 64 coin from a 65, I can. But that is what I would expect
Got it today
I got my 2008 Silver Proof Set today and they look great! I have been getting the annual proof sets since the 80's and I have a few of the 70's and 60's. These set are by far the largest collection of coins that I have and I always look foward to getting them twice a year to expand my hoard.

Or the United States Postal Service
Well, the postal carrier left a notice at my house Wednesday about a package that they weren't able to deliver. I live in the Houston area. By the time we made it to the Post Office on Thursday they'd closed early and sandbagged the place. So a Top Pop coin is sitting in the Post Office during a hurricane. And I needed that to make a play for the #1 spot in a category. Joy.
My family has left the area as we were required to. Next week I'll have to look int
Things I've learned and you should know.
1. Heritage Auctions is a corporation that operates solely, to make money for themselves from things, consigned to them.
2. If you are considering sending anything to Heritage, refer to rule number one.
3. In the last 12 months, Heritage has made over 140 million dollars from other peoples things.
4. Calling an employee at Heritage and expecting to talk to anyone, besides the operators, is rarely a reality. To date I have called Heritage at least
What is a coin?
Coin: a small piece of metal, usually flat and circular, authorized by a government for use as money.
Without considering mint marks, proofs, or packaging options, by this definition, the US Mint is presently minting 26 coins; four platinum coins, four eagle gold coins, four buffalo gold coins, one silver eagle dollar, two commemorative dollars, one commemorative half, one SACAGAWEA dollar, four presidential dollars and the cent, nickel, dime, quarter, and half dollar. Why pay hight prices and/or gamble in auction houses when you are a member of the NGC Collectors Society or PCGS. Educate yourself through the ANA and you will be able to know what the grade of coin is before you send it in. You will never see another body bag again.
David Lawarnce Auction Houses or any of these other similar auction houses, Teletrade, Stacks and ECT, are straight out gambling. You were just lucky that you were not out bided. I do not understand finding modern minted U.S.
God bless our troops.
God bless our troops in the war against readical Islam. Protect them from as much harm as possible. When it is not possible, allow their wounds to remain untainted with infection and give our wounded rapid recovery times. Smite our enemies with doubt and desease, remove the rain from their skies and the health from their men, women and children. Amen
Remember When?
I know this is suspose to be a coin journal , but this one is not sorry, Seven years ago today ... I was sitting in a training class, when suddenly several members of the classes pagers begin to go off requesting them to return to their station as soon as possible, then the instructor turned the tv on just seconds before the second plane flew into the towers. I was numb, I could not believe that people would kill innocent people like this. I was then requested back at my station
Completed my MS Peace dollar mint and date collection.
Eastern Coins, who I met at the World Poker Championship being held at the Rio Hotel and Casino, gave me a hell of a deal on the last and rarest two coins I needed to finish my Signature set. I expect this collection to eventually be the number one collection of mint and date set MS Peace Dollars.
The age old question NGC vs PCGS new twist
Two Thumbs Up For David Lawrence Rare CoinsJust when you think you have it all figured out, every thing changes. There has been an on going discussion on these journal pages that PCGS has been over grading the presidential dollars, using the statement that the PCGS coins are not crossing over to NGC and keeping the higher grade (MS66,67). I cannot confirm or deny this as I have not tried it my self. I do know however Washington thru Madison PCGS graded
That is a beautiful coin. this is 500 years MADE!!
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful coin. It indeed hallmarks the wonderous accomplishments of man this past half millinia. Sure makes you wonder what is to come in the next 500 years.
I just wanted to share this little gem, from Poland. This is dated 1508, ? groschen, so it literally is 500 years made. I love to dream and wonder, who might have carried this in their pockets all those many years. The stories it could tell.

First journal post.
Hello everyone. This is my first post. I have recently discovered the NGC Registry and I think it is a great idea. I have been collecting (Hoarding really) for about 4 years. This registry has helped to focus in on my collecting. I have been reading everyone's posts and have gotten a lot of great tips and ideas.
I am currently focusing on Proof Kennedys and MS 65 Lincolns. On the side, I plan to collect lower grade Barber dimes to have sent off for NGC certification.
Previously Ebay worse than auction house...
truth is: there is no differenceMy removable hard disk failed. In it contains all my backup images of collection, hours of my life just wasted...Also contained a huge website of details on singapore, malaya, straits settlement banknotes with some proof coins pictures of straits which I'm doing and almost ready for launching it..... Got the results online from some lots sent to PMG and NGC for grading immediately after I received them from auctions1 not

Switching Gears in Florida...
Greetings fellow collectors addicts & Numismaniacs,
I have been reading the journals of late and the tales and exploits of all of you, and your dealings with buying, selling, grading and new found loves.
The latter is what I would like to touch on. I have always loved coin collecting in general but have liked some issues over others. My main loves have been the mid 20th century halves. I do love the Walkers and Franklins. It seems that just before
I just can't make up my mind!
Why is it I like them both? Ran into this real nicely toned 1891-s Liberty Seated dime and it was love at first sight. An ms 65 to boot. Wasn't exactly a steal, I paid a slight premium for the coin, but I sure like the way it looks.
As an aside, I've switched gears regarding my Morgan dollars. I will be selling most of my Morgans on eBAY this week, lots of 64s and 65s, as I upgrade to 66s and 67s. You may want to check it out if you have holes to fill.

Well, the grades are back on those 2 invoices and 61 coins. I'm not going to say that I'm thrilled with how everything turned out but on the whole I guess it turned out ok. There were some highs and there were definitely some lows.
The lows:
A 1986-P Quarter and a 1981-D Half received grades of MS63 and MS62 respectively. Ouch. A 1886 Morgan which I compaired to several NGC MS63s (and it compaired very well IMO) was given a MS61. Again, Ouch. Not to be out-done, a 1992 Half
The addiction continues to grow!
I recently picked up my first Capped Bust Half dollar. An 1834 Small date, small letters, graded VF25 (imaged below) and it has now kindled a new interest. It is likely that in the next few months I will add the coins I'm acquiring to the Registry.
