Rick, I got a drowned sheep! "can ya help me"
Friends, I'm at work and I get a distress call from a friend. So of course I go and take care of the deed. It took a while to get him out of where he was, and a guy that was there said he was going to the store but all he had in his wallet was old money. I don't collect bills but I jumped like it was a coin. How much ya got?
I purchased $28 (old for new)strait up.
$2 bills= 2- 1976, 1- 1958, & a new 1928
$5 bills= 2- 1963 and a $10 bill=
No the cost is not $10.00 to re-holder, actually it is closer to $50.00!
Hi Moondoggy and fellow collectors......
Well right now I am getting together some of my coins to send in for grading by PCGS. From what I know, the re-holder charge is $10.00,(yes) but when you submit the one slab you must use a PCGS form to fill out what you want done! This form cost is another $8.00 charge for that (form) by itself!
Add to that the s&h return fee would be $17.40 for just one coin so PCGS can r
Did you check your coin grades at 7:00 Eastern Time this morning?
Friends & Members, I got up regularly, around 6:00. I made coffee, checked E-News & E-Mails. After-wards I decided to take a few coins out of my Morgan Date set that I plan to upgrade.
I logged in and pulled up my set. Every coin I owned was graded at MS66. Now I'm sure I drank three cups of coffee "but who's set am I looking at"? I checked the points and values and they were correct. Then I just gazed at all of my se
Are you a collector or a chaser?
The avid collector wins every time. We research when our favorite coins will be released. We buy the coins because we are committed to the coin or type set. Now look at the history of the 2008 Buffalo sets. Nobody was buying them. But if you?re committed to collecting the coin because you have a passion or desire to own them you buy them. We buy them because we are collectors and desire to own one of each of them, not because of greed or monetary gain; we coll
Every coin in each set within my collection appears to have a grade of MS 66.
At or around 11:00 PM EDT today all the coins in my sets got a new grade - MS 66!
The scores for the coins still reflect the old grades.
Anyway, I filed a support request.

Been collecting Morgans and some Peace Dollars for years.
Hope to find others collecting these same series and maybe buy and sell with them. Have complete collection but would like to upgrade.
Watch out, there is always someone gunning for your seat!
Well, for a couple of years I proudly held the top seat In the Canada "folklore and Legends" Proof 50 cent set. There wasn't too many sets entered, but it was my first number 1 spot, and I was really proud. I got the boot today! Now, don't get me wrong, I like competition and congratulations to the new #1 seat owner. Although, it does sadden me a bit. Man, we work so hard to get there. Keeping it is the other task that can be a bit daun
I broke into the top 10 in my SMS Presidential Dollar collection today.
I'm really enjoying collecting the proof and SMS presidential dollars. I think they are great coins.
I know my SMS set will never be a #1 set as I'm only collecting NGC coins. That's okay though, the rankings are a nice bonus and help me get motivated, but in reality I don't care so much about it. I like having a complete set to date much more.
I wish we would see more in circulation.
I plan to add photos of my
Hot off the presses....at least it looks that way.
Please ignore my last post. I need to stop looking at coins I already have! Just upgraded my 1920 'Mercury' dime from MS65FB(pop. 130/82/13) to a MS66FB. The pictures of the coin were gorgeous when I bought it, but having it in hand..... If anyone needs a 1920....Just kidding.
Enjoy the moment....but don't forget about the future.

An interesting comparison between two population reports.
Many of you are aware that I collect the Netherlands ?Queen Wilhelmina I? 10 Gulden gold coins issued between 1897 and 1933. This past week I upgraded my 1917 NGC MS-66 coin with a PCGS MS-67 coin. Naturally, since this coin is in the registry, I spend a significant amount of time studying the population reports and fortunately, PCGS allows free access to their world coin population report. While comparing the two reports, I found a dis
A good lesson I learned....
Greetings again everyone!
I have to tell you, there are so very many options for the collector in our hobby that one could go a little crazy trying to master the amount of possible sets one could make.
I remember a couple of years ago when I first started coin collecting that I had no doubt as to which coins I wanted to be my primary collection (SAE's and SAE Proofs) after watching a History Channel special about The Mint and West Point. I also knew I wanted
another way to look at this new addition
after reading some of the post's regarding the new practice of NGC in providing us with the new Purple Label Details holders, a couple of thoughts went through my somewhat cluttered mind. first, we can no longer complain about getting body bags back for our fee's, with the lack of any grading. second, NGC is now catching up with ANACS. the service that a lot of us has used in the past, to have those problem coins authenticated and graded. so exactly
2009 SAE Proof
First time posting...Love the topic...Great to be a society member.
I too am very disappointed that the mint will not be producing ASE proofs. I am completely in the dark as to how and why the US mint cannot have enough silver for these coins.
Maybe it?s our job as collectors to help the mint with their silver supply. Someone amongst us (society members) must have some sort of internal ?connection? with the US mint. Here?s what I propose we do:

And the coin of the month for October is...
a 1800 half eagle. The reported mintage was 37,628 pieces. This is the BD-2 variety, considered to be R-3. This coin has dark even green gold color with no adjustment or other serious marks. It has nice flashes of luster in the protected areas. This piece is graded AU-53 by PCGS and came with a CAC sticker.
Spot for my coin
Howdy,
Hey just wanted drop a note and give credit and kudos to Amy@NGC. As I posted before, I got a AUS $30 Kilo coin MS70. But there was nowhere in the registry for it.
10/01 Amy sent me an email telling me that she would see what could be done about getting the series into the system.
10/06 I received an email informing me that the set has been updated and I can now add my coin to the registry.
I entered the coin not really knowing a point value. Not really a concer
BUT we all figured it out earlier...
Greetings everyone!!
Amidst my daily internet journey today that entails my school courses and email checking, and of course, my daily visit to The Collector's Society, I found an email from The Mint that notified me as a "Silver American Eagle Subscriber" that there will officially be no SAE's in Proof or "Burnished" or "Uncirculated" this year.
I have been saddened by this all year long, actually. We collectors knew there would not be any SAE's (
I have waited all year for this????
Now my collection of SAE proofs will have a big hole in them with no 2009 coins. Is the mint for real? What a line of . I am feeling a lot of pain in my heart with this announcement. The mint states" The proof and uncirculated versions of the American Eagle Gold and Silver Proof Coins are not mandated by law." Well US Mint, the production of these coins are mandeted by MY LAW, so get back to work and make me some SAE proof coins
Shoulda, woulda, coulda...
Greetings Collectors (and investors)
I realize this is a numismatic site and not a stock/investor site but all of us here, for the most part are investors along with being coin collectors. If we knew that what we bought would go down in value more times than it went up, I dare to say there would be fewer of us here. Having said that my thoughts today are, again, for the most part, exactly the same as they were on my post of March 19th of this year.
Today, like

At last they finally admit defeat.
Hello all,
Here's the latest from the Mint.
Dear United States Mint Customer,
