The avid collector wins every time

Are you a collector or a chaser?

The avid collector wins every time. We research when our favorite coins will be released. We buy the coins because we are committed to the coin or type set. Now look at the history of the 2008 Buffalo sets. Nobody was buying them. But if you?re committed to collecting the coin because you have a passion or desire to own them you buy them. We buy them because we are collectors and desire to own one of each of them, not because of greed or monetary gain; we collect them because of the beauty we see in the coin and want a complete set.

Time does pass and the US Mint publishes their population report and their future intensions. When the US mint sold out of the 2008 Buffalos and put out a press release stating that they sold out of the 2008 Gold Buffalos, They stated that the mintages were low and there will not be any fractional coins in the future. Now the greed sets in it drives the market crazy, and now everyone wants them.

If we purchase a coin for the desire and the beauty of the striking we don?t chase the market we get it at retail cost. We don?t care that we own a valuable coin or that the mintages are low. Were just are glad we own our prize possession.

We buy them because we are avid collectors. We wanted the coin for its beauty; the avid collector will never sell their prize possession. The avid collector will cherish that that own the coin for their collection, and will never sell it. The avid collector doesn?t chase the market.
