THIS COLLECTOR'S REGISTRY FANTASY!

Show Me The Truth. (Journal Entry Now Completed.)As I have stated in previous Journals, the Registry has provided me with tremendous fun and entertainment:-opening and closing sets; playing "what if".-comparing my sets to those of others.- stimulating ideas for new collecting areas to explore.-great entertainment value when not making new purchases or running down a new "acquisition target".From the competitive point of view,, looking to improve one's own rankings vs. others is always fun, espe

The Realization of Needing to "Re-Do" Pictures

Upon further review.... Greetings again everyone!! Just finished up my political science and math work for tonight and thought I'd post here (again). Upon further review...my pictures kinda suck!! I took another look at my sets tonight and I have to comment that all of my hard work on the pictures that exist in my sets need a re-do. I realized that I need to do a few things to make the pictures appear better, and here is my plan. 1. Use a black backdrop to "hide" the area

Mea Culpa

Can't sleep It's 3:30 AM. Earlier I "dissed" some of my fellow CS members. I apologize for a rant that I never should have posted. My only excuse is stupidity. I'll continue to read all posted journal entries. Now, so that I don't have to put myself in my ignore list, I will post a short journal. My collecting bent is Morgan Dollars. I completed my registry set in 2006 ranking 36 of 485 sets. Now, over 50,000 points and 76 upgrades later, I rank 37th. There are, however, almost 1700 sets in

Will My Income Ever Catch Up to my Dream?

Regarding the (now extinct) $5 Gold Eagle Greetings again folks!!   One of my most prized coins is my $5 Gold Eagle MS70 ER that I purchased for $99 ($106 with shipping) I felt I got a great deal as this coin was one of the lowest gold coin mintages since the beginning of the Eagle program. I have watched the quoted value from NumisMedia grow on this coin to about $150 now, and I feel fairly certain the value of this coin will grow substantially over the years. When I purchased the

This may send the right message!

A while back someone said how to send a message to an Ebay seller? Hi Collectors.... I feel like I accomplished what I intended, and I must say what a rise I got out of the SELLER who sold me that coin on EBAY! Someone on the Collectors Society suggested that instead of giving a seller a negative feedback reply, to give him a positive and then try giving them ONE stars to the 4 questions you answer about shipping fees and amount of time and so on and so on. So I did it! I gave the

Hey what has happened with the price of a 1926-s RED cent?

Prices seem to be falling on the "hardest to find" red coin in the Lincoln Wheat series..... Hi Collectors.... Well in my dreams I think of owning a 1926-s RED PCGS MS=64 Lincoln coin. So as a dreamer I watch the sale of these coins and see what is happening with them. So in the last 2 years have you noticed the price has fallen!? Yes that is right, the price for the sale of a 26-s Red MS-64 cent is falling. Also the price on the lone MS-65 Red example has fallen? If you bought the

A Josh McDaniels Coin?

The rookie head coach has the Denver Broncos 5-0. Unprecedented in NFL history. No rookie head coach has ever won their first 5 games as a head coach. When he was hired: he cleaned house, got rid of Crybaby Cutler and started from scratch. Local sportscasters said he was either a genius or a fool. So I think it is appropriate for a Josh McDaniels commemorative coin! Here is an image of Plkes Peak in the fall.

Terse?

Perhaps It could be that I was somewhat terse in my last rant. Maybe I shouldn't have automatically eliminated most of those that had a certain letter in their name. My point was that this is a JOURNAL page, not a page that calls for any little thing you have. NGC offers us a chat page with chats concerning U. S. Coins, Numismatic Tangents, What you Need to Know, ETC. Maybe we should use it!

I think I've figured it out

How to eliminate the that some of our members think are "journals" To those of you that think any thoughts about coins or your collections are journals, please read the description of "journals". To those of you that have won "journal awards" in the past, please realize the definition of "journal". Most of the stuff that appears on the journals here belongs on the chat boards. My guess is that these posters do not even know that the chat boards even exist. Therefore, I have determined that

Lincoln Coin & Chronicles..

I want ! who doesn't ? Is anyone NOT buying it ? If not please buy it for me ! I fear by the time my little internet connection over here sees the website with it on, I may even miss out. I guess I will get one, but of course having 5 of them would be even better ! So please let me know if you can purchase it for me and send it on to Australia. I will cover all costs, it will be just as cheap as mint purchase because of the high USMint charge I face anyway

Coinfest Did Not Disappoint

A pleasant, mid-size show Having spent myself out again on the Naftzger late dates sale (my new 1841 MS65), I had thought I'd just save up for awhile and wait for the Baltimore show in November, or March, to buy again. But Philadelphia seemed so close - why not go to the new Whitman expo? And last week, Coinfest seemed like it might be fun too. Stamford, CT isn't all that far after all, right? So I decided to go. I gathered my stuff, including the duplicate 1841 cent to sell, and 20 of my bes

Greetings Collectors, The much anticipated proof Lincoln Silver Dollar (the last 50,000 of the 500,000 limit) along with the four proof Lincoln cents will go on sale at noon eastern on Oct. 15th 2009. The previous sales of the dollar coins sold out in six weeks. Of the 450,000 sold to date, total proof sales 325,000 and just 125,000 in Unc. Proof Coinage from 1950-1970...Part one...

"Wow, what a long way the US Mint has come"... with silver proof half dollars, among other issues. Greetings Collectors, I have bought proof sets along with mint sets for many years. I just thought it was the thing to do, as in having "one of each" at least. Some of them are barely worth the issue price, others a bit more. Having said that, I can count the different denominations I have slabbed on way less than two hands. I have no "slabbed" proof halves going back earlier than 1954. The one

What's NOT Done Can Sometimes Kill What HAS Been Done

I am glad I have kept a LOOSE time frame..... Greetings!! It has been a good Saturday today. I completed all of my schoolwork last night (except for dreaded mathematics, but who can blame me?) So, I have had some time today to review my sets and make plans for a little sprucing up of the sets before Dec. 10th, when the sets are judged. And while reviewing everything, I did find myself getting the feeling of "being behind". Now, this is where I am very grateful that I have made for myse

Is your classic registery set, really ever complete?

Constant upgrades that can break the bank By no means do I have a complete set in my roosevelt collection. My main goal was to become #1 in that set and move on to other sets. I only collected ms67FT-MS68*FT in my set. This was a major task for anyone. Well, for the last 2 years I constantly keep upgrading. I would buy a ms67Ft,then a few months later a ms67*ft would pop up and Now I am buying ms68FT.I went through every year in my roosevelts from 1946-Present and from where I stand, there is a

Pointflation and why it happens...

It's not much of a mystery IMO really. It seems like every couple of months I see a post that discusses how a person has lost rank when their point total didn't go down (or even when it went up). There seems to be a general frustration among members that the number of points required to obtain a given rank keeps going up. The simplest (and seemingly most common) explanation for this seems to be that the users directly below them are adding more coins and passing them in rank. This is likely tr

Proof Sets almost complete

Finally finished 2001 PF set Hi there all, Finally got my 2001 Clad Kennedy Half. Had to buy a 6 pc. multi-holder to get it but still picked it up at a fair price. With the addition of this coin I now have all Proof Sets from 2000-2009 TOTALLY complete,PF70 that is. I am now going to focus on ASE's and Roosevelt's FT. I have 4 pennies at NGC right now and depending on how they come back I may have many more to send in. 50-60 of them waiting in the wings. I also picked up a few State

ASE STORY

Lehmann's Big Beagle Bonanza Bash My NGC PF-70 Silver Eagle set story begins on April 19, 2009. While working on my state quarter series, I saw some Eagles on E-Bay and I bought one on a lark. It was the 2005 W. When it arrived, I was very pleased. What a monster sized coin!!! These things are huge I thought!! That was all it took. I began to watch for them on E-bay, and checked with dealers and such as I began the search for perfect Eagles!!! I decided to build the coolest, most comp

Caesar's Proof Commem Set My PF-70 Commem set story begins on May 30, 2009. I had looked at some of the commem coins, and really liked what I saw. My state sets were nearing completion, and I wanted to start something new. I liked the fact that I could collect three different things in one set-dollars, halves, and the biggie, GOLD!!!!! Caesar said "Let's go for it" and we did. The first coin was the Braille dollar. It started it all moving!!! We were underway!!!! The first half was t
