Each had the opening bid set to $9.99, some had BIN for $11.95 too.
So far, with one remaining auction still open, with a $9.99 opening bid, only one sold for more than $9.99. In fact, most didn't sell until the last moments of the auction. Some didn't get a single bid and had to be relisted. The 2000 S had to be listed 3 times to sell.
So, between the Lewis and Clark Commeorative Jefferson Proof Nickels and the Sacagawea, I spent more to buy each one than I was able to sell them for. My bad
A LOT of work yesterday
Greetings!
Well, my SAE entry has been (mostly) revamped. New pics (took all day) and some new descriptions. I actually re-read the existing descriptions and liked most of what I saw. I did edit a few, and will most likely do a re-write on the header, but I am quite pleased with the fruit of all my labor.
I spent about 9 hours with the revamping, a day well spent, because it was a day spent with my SAE's!
I wish the rest of you much luck with your efforts!
"An End of a primitive Era"...
Greetings Collectors,
As most of you know, my free time of late has revolved around an attempt to take & post pictures of my coins here at the Collectors Society. The joy and frustrations have been many and while I have taken well over two thousand shots, less than 100 have been deemed "worthy" enough to include here. Spending a great deal of time with many of my most favorite coins has made me think more "in depth" of exactly what goes into the "making of
Something odd about these siver dollars.
On November 7, 2009 I was at a coin show in Edmonton AB with my father and I was going through a bin of silver dollars. While I looking through I noticed that on the 1939 silver dollars looked a little differet. The nose on a couple of them looked different. I asked around and it seemed like no one noticed it before. On Nov 11, 2009 I sent an email to the coin news to see if they had noticed it. I am currently waiting for a reply from them.
just sent my first submission..
On 11/06/09 I sent my first submission. Hope I did everything okay. I sent 6 coin. They are the 5 1999 proof Silver s quarters and a proof Silver eagle 1992. Wish me luck.
Thanks for reading,

A Numismatic tribute to our veterans.
On this Veterans Day, I want to take the opportunity to thank the men and women of our armed forces who have both served and are currently serving our nation. We all can be very proud of these fine Americans. I especially wish to thank those who have served in times of war. I am a veteran of the United States Navy and feel blessed that I never received the call to take up arms for our country. However, I was prepared, and in a position to go.
Thank you
Thank-You
To all of you veterans, I would like to take this time to say ?THANK-YOU for your dedicated service? and wish you a safe and joyful Veterans Day.
A sort of comedy of errors!!
Greetings!!
Well, as I have previously been posting I am in the midst of re-doing my SAE entry's photos, and I am currently about 6 coins in and I am now re-charging the batteries for my camera, so I thought I'd give a status update.
The morning did not start out very well. I woke up at about 4am MTN time with a very sore left wrist. I have some tendinitis that gets aggravated when I drive for long periods with my left hand.
I woke up and took some motrin
getting caught up with all the journals and all.....
Greetings everyone;
Have been away for a few weeks. Upgraded the PC to Windows 7 last week and have finally finished tweaking for now. Read the latest journals to get caught up. Sounds like some are having success with their collections.
Have had to put a hold on coin acquisitions for the time being. Told my sons as soon as the youngest turned 21, (wife and I) would take them on a special vacation. So had to start
I got off my lazy rump & took my NGC graded pics
Friends, I received a message today (need NGC pics) well I guess it's about time I fixed that situation. here is a shot of my 1880-S NGC-MS67.
HAPPY COIN COLLECTING
Not the house I live in - The home I spend my relax mode in = (COLLECTORS SOCIETY)
Friends & Society, First off I have really enjoyed the increase in population of coin shots in the journals. The ohs & ahs from my end of being a member of a collecting club that is enjoyable.
This has been a harsh year for my collection, it has been a while since I have even made a purchase. I went to a show last month and found it hard to trade for coins so I have decided to box up my set (create 2
Is it the sign of the times or have they always been this way?
Living in a small community in the mountains of San Bernardino I've come to know allot of the local people that come into my antique shop. I just got back into coin collecting since a 5 year vacation from it due to unfortunate circumstance (read my bio. if you really want to know). anyways I've noticed since I started selling coins in my shop the return of people have increased. In these times of hardship I truly believe people as
Set has 21 coins, I have 10 of 'em filled.
Since I had a start on the gold type set, I decided to go ahead and start the set about 3 months ago. Since I added the on hand coins to the set, I have purchased several that fit into the type set and that fit into other sets. I have purchased 2 (the $5 & $10 Indian's) that only fit into this set of mine.

Revamping my SAE entry!
Greetings!
Well, as I mentioned before tomorrow I will be off work and I am dedicating my entire day to my SAE entry.
New pictures, new descriptions, hopefully a whole new "feel" to my entry.
I worked extra hard today to get my schoolwork done so I will have nothing else to worry about tomorrow and I can concentrate solely on my coins.
This is a big day for me as I am feeling excited all over again about my coin accomplishments.
Wish me l
One day I hope I can take as good a "Pic" as he...
Greetings Collectors,
It is so very strange that I had on my table before me, my Walker half collections and had just taken a break to read the "journals" after loading images from my "short set #2" which is basicly extra, extras from Short Set #1 and the Walker middle date set I am trying to complete. I wanted to, and have been experimenting with shots from sets that are not as important as others. In hopes that I will get the process dow
Coin Photography
Hello
As my first journal entry this will be a two subject post.
First is to introduce a new acquisition the 2009 Switzerland Shootingtaler Obwalden.
This is a 50 francs, 900/1000 silver, 25 gram, 37mm proof only coin limited to a mintage of 1,500. This example is graded by NGC as PF-69 ultra cameo.
Second is to try and improve my coin imaging. This image was taken with a macro lens in normal room lighting and color corrected to white in photo shop and cropped at 750
New Buffalo Nickel and Standing Liberty Quarter
I will be upgrading the Type 2 Buffalo Nickel and adding a Type 2 Standing Liberty Quarter in a couple of weeks.
still one final slot to fill
Recently I wrote a journal about a coin that "jumped out at me". Well I woke up this morning to find out great news. My willingness to pay a bit extra landed me the coin that had enchanted me. I quickly paid and now only have to wait a few days for it to arrive. I can only hope that it looks as nice in-hand as it does in the images...or dare I hope, maybe even better?
This brings me back to the topic. For almost 2 full years now I have needed the final Walker h
November is starting to rival October.
I really have to get a handle on this hobby. The key I know is to stop looking but if I go near a computer.....This little gem caught my eye the other day and well you know, I just couldn't let it slip away. Pop. 55/10/1.
Enjoy!

Once again...Changes need to happen here!!
Here we are a month before the close of all the registries to be honored as the best in all categories. Most take it serious and take pride in their sets and being honored as having the best set. However, when PCGS coins are allowed in a NGC Collectors Society and are NOT allowed to have NGC coins on the PCGS site, things need to CHANGE! NGC has never inspected any PCGS coin that reside in any registry set yet they are accepted as equals without
GETTING RID OF MOST OF MY GOLD AND INVESTING IN 90% SILVER.
WELL IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS I HAVE AQUIRED AROUND $300.00 FACE OF SILVER COINAGE. I AM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING SELLING MOST OF MY GOLD COINS TO INVEST IN SILVER(TAKE A LOOK MOSTLY PF70UC AND MS70 EARLY RELEASES) I WOULD BE WILLING TO TRADE FOR 90% SILVER U.S. COINAGE AT AN EVEN EXCHANGE FOR THE CURRENT MARKET VALUES OF THESE COINS. THE 1 OUNCERS ARE NOT FOR SALE NOR ARE ANY BUFFALOS. THE REST CAN GO! IF ANY OF YOU ARE INTERESTED CALL(513
Oh boy, this is getting tough
For some years now, I've been trying to compete against the "Lantern" collection. Now I know that my coin budget is definately not what his budget is. Still though, I've been proud to hold a Few #1 sets. Today, wow, what can I say. He placed his final coin into his Canada 1953-67 PL quarter set. Talk about close. I'm now only 28 points ahead of him. We both have 100% of the coins. Finding anything higher in a grade would take a miracle. Well' I guess not. He did i
What coin could it be?
It's the 1854-S Half Eagle.
This issue is the first year of San Franciso gold coins from the US Mint there. It has a mintage, according to the Red Book, of 268. And states "3 Known".
NGC has graded 1. It was AU58. PCGS has graded NONE!
This is no 1854-S Half eagle but a Nice one anyway.
