2010P Tiger Kilo

Pic is here Hey, Good evening. I just wanted to see if I could post a pic of my 2010P Tiger coin. I included a normal size coin for comparison purposes. Quality is poor, but at least those that have never seen a kilo coin can get an idea of its size. Let me know what you think. Todd

My Goal Date

New pics Thanksgiving week! Greetings! Well, after a few rounds of camera and lighting experimentation, I have decided upon Thanksgiving week to re-do my SAE collection here. I'll be on vacation that week as well as off from my school obligations, and as I am now armed with some experience in the photo department, I am ready to make a dent in that goal. I always get very excited as a coin collector around this time of the year as this is when I first started collecting a few years ag

Went to the Barber shop.

Every numismaddict knows I'm refering to a coin store. Picked up this beauty. An 1898-S dime MS 65 with some awesome toning. Only three coins to go to complete the 1898 Mint Set. By the way, I finally have a couple of complete sets in the Registry. Nothing special but at least I can finally say I completed a set. Can anyone tell me how you post multiple pictures with your post? Much obliged. Have a great day. Dan

Flying High.

Love those Double Eagles. Just had to show off one of my latest additions. Walked in to my local coin shop and what did I see staring at me..... a 1920 Saint PCGS 64. PCGS has only graded one higher. Incredible luster, one of the nicest coins I've seen in terms of eye appeal. October was a VERY expensive month for me also gherrmann44 and like you I need to rein in my spending or the people on my Christmas list will have to settle for coins. Not to keep mind you, but I will allow them to l

Lots of Treats with a Few Tricks!

I made several good purchases in October, but absolutely need to get spending under control! October has been a banner month for me in terms of collecting, as I upgraded one coin, purchased three outright, and added the Lincoln Chronicles set to my collection. The funny thing is that I told myself two coins ago that I would temporarily freeze my purchases. Now throw in a new camera and October gets very expensive. I guess all this proves that I am addicted to this hobby. However, there is a ra

$20 Type Three Gold Double Eagle...

A very brief history of my 1898 Double Eagle, by far, my favorite coin series...(in gold) Greetings Collectors, It is amazing how "bored" one can be on Friday night in the little town of White Springs Fl. with a total population of about the same amount as this 1898-P "twenty". (less than 2500). When I get home I am going to crop and edit my entire gold coin collection, starting with my #11 Type Three Double Eagles. Over 70% of them were purchased when gold was around a shade north of $500

Some Great Results!

A camcorder in "photo" mode works well... Greetings! Well, my photos are improving. I will post them soon, I am using my Handy Cam in photo mode and am finding some very vivid coin photos are coming through. I can't wait to finally improve my SAE set with the new photos. This will happen in the next 2 weeks. Good luck to you all in your pursuits!

Indian Head Cent Proof 101

Why do Indian Head Cent proof coins exhibit wild toning? If you have never collected Indian Head Cent proof coins there are certain basics that you should become familiar with. First, Indian Head Cent proof coins are made differently than regular issue mint coins issued for circulation. Each coin was struck on a polished planchet, and generally they were struck at a slower production rate with higher striking force, often with two blows from the press. Thus, the details of the coins are fully

A Very Beautiful Coin Series...

I don't own but one of these slabbed but.... Greetings Collectors, I am leaving to go back to Jacksonville Fl. in the morning after spending the week with my dad. While I was here I had the unfortunate occurance of having my transmission go out on my van. When something like this happens, as in a large expenditure, I always think of what coin or coins I could have bought with the money. Is this "sick" or what? Anyway while I have had the chance to spend some quality time with my 81 year old

Proof Coinage 1950-1970 Part Three...

Planchet or Blank Preparation... Greetings Collectors, I have taken a break and gone out of town to visit my father for this week and while I would have taken some more pics on this break, as I brought all of my coins with me that were not in the bank vault, along with my camera and tripod. I left the battery charger and USB cable at home. Just another example of my excelent memory and thought process. So anyway I did bring some numismatic study material and the last couple of issues of "Num

A Tough Week, A Bright Future!

Too much stress some weeks... Greetings! So my struggles in the math arena continue. (This IS going to be a coin post I promise) After not doing well on a few tests at school, and fearing the inevitable "F" I decided to withdraw from my math class and take ONLY that class next semester. I dread what this is going to do to my grants and other aid, but I know I did the right thing as I was just not grasping the math, several reasons for that, which I will spare everyone from, but this led t

A Long and Winding Road Indeed

Finally found that MS67!! Ever get a hunch that there has to be a MS67 but trying to find it is another thing all together. I have been searching box after box of the Harrison "D" dollars. There was only four FDI MS67 and they were all found by one person but there was never a business strike "D" MS67. After $10,000 (or more) I finally got a box that most looked better than all the other boxes and it was just pure luck I ever even got that box. I asked my local bank to order another box of

My New SAE

First coin purchase since June Hello everyone. Just wanted to share my latest coin purchase with all the collectors out there. For your viewing pleasure is a 1994 SAE PF69-UC. Since I haven't purchased anything in a while, I did find myself tracking this coin 2 to 3 times a day through the mail till it got here. It felt like I was starting up my collection for the first time again. It did feel good. But I was at the station when it arrived and I had to wait till I got home the next day to

My latest acquisition

A MS62 1880 Eagle $10, The first addition to my 1880 Mint Set since I started it with my on hand coins. This is the first addition to the 1880 Mint Set since I started the set a couple years ago (probably not that long ago). Since I am pretty much buying old gold exculsively, I came across this decent example for reasonable $$$ and bought it. PCGS MS62 1880 Eagle

The Red Lincoln

This is a beautiful full RD lincoln..... Hi, Last journal I submitted a Morgan photo this time I am submitting a Lincoln photo. I would like to ask everyone's opinion on this coin. 1. How is this photo? 2. Should I sell it or send it off to be graded? Anyway I just want to know what people's opinions are because sometimes people can think of something that you don't. B

Coins are truely beautiful!

The Barber and Mercury dime were some of my very first coins,... back in the day. Greetings Collectors, I apologize for the "constant" posting but as in coin purchases, I have trouble with this thing called control/moderation. Rightly or wrongly, I have always said, "If your'e gonna be a bear, be a grizzly bear, not a panda bear or a koala bear but a GRIZZLY. This meaning, when I start something, a project, a job, a deck, treehouse or whatever, I jump on it with both feet and continue until
