EBAY,EBAY, AND MORE EBAY!!!

The bigger the greed......the bigger the need? Hello everyone! It's all about money. They(eBay) could care less about the coins we buy and sell. I bought raw coins from the best in the business, and also from some I thought to be shady. When they got to the graders, both were junk. So much for selling valid coins through eBay. Graded coins need an obverse and a reverse scan? The serial number is it's verification.....isn't it? Raw coin images can be so fuzzy, you can't tell if it's even a co

I lost one and won one this year.

It's quite a challenge to keep your sets in the number 1 spot. I don't "journal" that much, like some people can, I just only talk when I feel that I have something interesting to add to the collector world. Well, Hey!, here is my first entry to the next year! Keeping a set at the top is, what I feel, like playing chess. You know where you are going to try and be, but you can't give your opponents a "heads up" to your intentions. My game started patiently, at the beginning of the year. F

Time has come to go.......

well since the few bad "collectors society" members Hi Members, well since the few bad "collectors society" members became rude and threatening to me, I have blocked view of all my sets. I removed over half of them to make sure I stay un-known. I have opened a PO Box like this mail account in a fake name. This really scares me when these people can be bullies and say things to me, well anyway. I thought I could enjoy collecting coins But some of these members are unbelieveable. They think t

My First of Many Journal Entries to Come

My first journal entry and this will certainly not be my last. I look forward with great enjoyment in continuing my journal and to keep anyone listening or friends that I make to follow. Today is the first of many journal entries that I will be making. I have been collecting coins since I was a child, for about 20 years so far. Until recently I have kept my collection limited to the most common coins; Pennies (Wheat and Lincoln), Nickels, Dimes, and Quarters. These are what I have been col

And now for something completely different.

As a Morgan dollar collector, I've looked at thousands of Morgan dollars for pick up points and dates/MMs that I do not currently own. Having been immersed in this for several years, I have grown a little bored with it for now. Does it mean that I'll quit collecting Morgans? Not likely. However, I did recently decide to try something different... Early last week, I decided that I'd like to try a different US Mint series. One that was fun to collect, but wouldn't break the bank. I've never pers

The Journey Starts

The Longest Journey Starts with the First Step Christmas is 12 days away now. My youngest sons will be with my ex-wife 1000 miles from here. Why is this important? It is worth noting because it was my youngest son who this summer re-ignited my passion for coin collecting when he became enthralled with state quarters. Over the years my coin collecting has been on a low burn. I started with ferreting through my parent's change for that odd looking or different coin. I got myself a few folders

Costume change for Halloween update. Part 10 1/2

My crossovers are back and I got the trick not the treat. Lets start this out by saying you should read my Part 10 journal before reading this one. In my last journal I showed a scan of the 5 ANACS graded Ireland coins I sent in for crossover. These were 5 coins I was thinking had a good chance of making it into a NGC slab. I was thinking at least 4 of them would, the AU-53 looked more like a AU-50 to me. Well, that didn't happen. The 1805 penny, a ANACS-PF63, came back crossed over in a NG

3rd Place Is Fine With Me

As long as there's more than 3 competitors. As a small addendum to my previous post, I found out that my team was awarded 3rd place in the competition between the 10 senior plant design teams. We will supposedly receive a small monetary award that will be divided among the 4 members of the team. I might get $60 out of it but that's not really the point to me. I am just very proud that three industry representatives felt that my team did better than 7 groups of our peers. That's pretty good in

Part 10 3/4, Costume change

Raw tricks I got from NGC instead of treats. No Happy Halloween here. In my last 2 journals I showed about my latest crossover and in this one it's about the raw coins I sent in with them. I sent in 5 raw Irish coins to be graded. I picked up a nice 1942 half cent at the Michigan State Spring Show. The dealer had 5 of them in his case, the only Irish he had. As this was a coin I was missing I looked them all over and purchased the best one. I always jot down what grade I think a coin will c

I SHOULD NOT EVEN BE HERE...

NGC JUST GRACIOUSLY LETS ME COMPETE, EVEN WITH THE ABUNDANCE OF MY COINS sitting in PCGS Slabs... Greetings Collectors, I had been going through a few of my sets of late thinking perhaps I had a slim chance of an award, not a "top tier set" but in some other category. I called NGC and spoke with Amy who I have spoken with on many occasions, about numerous topics, and inquired as to the requirements needed for consideration. I knew that there were those that last year, they "did not" have the

Presidential Dollars vs Peace Dollars You should be shocked.

$$$ vs Points a joke? Modern vs obsolete still laughing? Pot metal vs Silver you got to be kidding!!!!!!!As I slowly move my attention away form the mainstream modern coins and focus more on the obsolete series. I began to realize that the coins coming out of the mint now days are plain or down right ugly or a copy of a classic design as in the SAE's mimicking the Walking Liberty Halves, Buffalos like Buffalo nickels or the UHR, the St-Gaudens $20 dollar gold piece, to name a few. My most recent purchase

Just came in the mail today! I love collecting firsts and lasts, whether the first or last year of issue, a new composition or variety, or a new mint. Today I received my latest purchase, and a first to the newly opened Denver Mint; a UNC details 1906-D half-eagle. This coin is a nice addendum to WKF's recent journals concerning the Denver Mint. The coin has scratches that are apparent, but in my opinion, does not distract from the overall look of the coin. Enjoy my photo, and as always, happy

First NGC Submittal

It's In Their Hands NGC has officially received my first Collector's Society submittal - with my "five free" certificate. Now I have to wait and see if I can finally complete my Walking Liberty set, with one of the two 1921-D's I submitted. I also hope to fill two slots in my 1889 year set with a gold $1 and $2.50. I'm trying to keep my WL halves in the top ten. New, high-grade sets keep appearing, and I have about run out of affordable upgrade options. Here is my latest one.

Standing in the Doorway

Here we are. This is it. Today marks a very significant event, both here on the registry and in my personal life. The senior chemical engineering majors gave our final project presentations today to our teacher, industry representatives and any faculty that wanted to come. After that was the exit interview. We were asked about our time here, what we liked, what we thought could have been better, and would we have done it again knowing what we know now. For a surprising number of us, that ans

"Did You Know The Denver Mint Was"?...Conclusion...

actually robbed on the "inside"? Greetings Collectors, In this, what will be my final journal entry for the Collectors Society fiscal year which ends in less than 24 hours, I also conclude this little history lesson on a mint that was a long time "in the making". As I laid in bed last night, I thought about these events surrounding the Denver Mint. The vast majority of those events, I had no clue of. My mind raced through a "multitude" of things concerning not only the mint and all of the "D

APPLES AND ORANGES. WE ALL KNOW THAT IN RECENT YEARS PCSG HAS LOOSENED UP ON THEIR GRADING STANDARDS. NGC ON THE OTHER HAND, HAS MAINTAINED FAIRLY TIGHT STANDARDS. ALL ONE NEEDS TO DO, IS COMPARE THE CENSUS, FOR THE U.S. PRESIDENT SMS OR SATIN FINISH SERIES, TO SEE THE DISCREPANCY. I ONCE SENT SIX PCGS MS 69 SLABBED PRESIDENTS TO NGC, TO BE RE-SLABBED INTO NGC HOLDERS. YES, YOU GUESSED IT. ONLY ONE MADE THE CUT. With noone to speak to about my problems I turn to the "society". Well I want to appologize in advance for bringing this personal matter to you all here, but I have no where else to turn. I also, appologize for bringing such dreadfull problems here in the season of what should be happiness and joy. I have had a few years of feeling hopeless, helpless and uselessness. sense or cents!?

In response to Sarah's Coins, yes I am listening.... Mr. Cooper, I read your journal entry and am confussed!? Ebay has a policy that clearly states and I quote, "Listings for certified coins must include images showing the full front and back sides of the authentication slab." If Ebay has this policy, and you do not follow it, the question is why? It's not hard to post the photos. It's not hard to post 2 or 3 photos in an auction. I am sure you are one of the better sellers on Eba
