New Photoshop Software!!

I was able to get it from our server from work. Now comes the hard part...... I just found out the other day that our server at work has Adobe Photoshop CS3 available for downloading. So I VPN'ed into the server from work and downlaoded the software. I do need to find out the key, usually we buy a multi-user license, which is why I can download it. There may be an opportunity to work on some graphic design for work as a committee member so I thought I'd grab it. And I can use it for my coins!!

NGC MS 67 1948 Lincoln

A nice mint red gem Hi everyone. First off I would like to congratulate all of this years winners. It is great to see who was recognized for their collecting and journalistic endeavors. As many of you know I started really working on my Lincoln registry sets this past year. I sold off an entire set of MS 70 $5 American Gold Eagles last year to pursue my first passion. This is my latest addition to my Lincoln Wheat Cents. Nice mint red gem. My goals this year are to be in the top 10 for

F U N Show Orlando Fla

You have to see one of these huge coin You have got to see one of these huge coin shows. the Orlando FUN show is I think, the biggest. It is really an education. Most folks are there for the reasons of their owns which which should cause you to move with caution with most transactions. I find that some folks there with the knowledge of the ages, and some just know how to sell. I would think that it is a better place for a person to sell, than for buying, unless you are savvy and really kn

A Dedication Like No Other

Most people will never understand it !!! As I reflect back upon years past,I can honestly say...WOW !!!! Most people cant afford to become #1 in a major set. It is a financial obligation that takes a toll in ways, that most people never expect. I have been dedicated to my mint set roosevelts for over 3 years. The amount of tradeing, money, and luck are a small part of the picture. You also figure out ways to save money. I love the $1.00 menu. I can fill up my stomach on $3.25. The amount of sleep

After Buying this coin, I never thought I'd actually have it in my hands!

A fairly rare, 1856 S Liberty Quarter Eagle, turned up missing at the sellers!! I bought this coin on eBay December 20. It was a BIN. I thought the coin to be well priced and it fits a couple of different sets. It's worth 1886 Registry points too! Well, the day after I bought and paid for it. The seller emailed me saying he can't find it anywhere after an exhaustive search. I was thinking he realized he could have sold it for more and was pulling a fast one. He contacted the dealer he got i

My Wife Says I Have Holes In My Head

But it?s really just holes in the coin album. I have learned something very important about myself already this year. Empty holes in my coin album drive me CRAZY! The vast majority of my collection is housed in albums, a vestige of my youth and subsequent lack of resources when the coin collecting bug first bit me. I started with folders as most kids do and gradually moved to albums and just recently to slabbed and graded coins. I still have a folder or two that I have not moved into an album

Reverse Journal Entry

The difference between what I say and what I do... Sometimes I think I need to start making "Reverse Journal Entries." It would be kinda like reverse psychology except with journals. I look back at my old entries and I realize just how often what I say I want to do is the exact opposite of what I end up doing. Almost no goal that I set forth in a journal actually comes to pass, unless it's such a near term goal that it's already all but done. Sure, I always have my reasons for changing my mi

A POSIBLE NEW BEGINING STARTER

Nobody wanted her but I see in her a new start. Good day to all, As most of you know I have sent my set to Heritage for auction to adjust to economy letdown of 2009.We actually went out to a restaurant tonight which was very nice (first time in 6 months). I told my wife that the 1880-o MS64 did not sell in the Heritage auction. An all white beauty and the best coin I owned did not go at 75% with buyers fees? My wife said it would make a great starter coin for a new set ( as long as I keep my s

WHAT A SURPRISE!!!

A total shock to see this attached to my registry I was casually sitting at my desk writting out work invoices and thought to check out the registry just to see if the awards had been placed yet. WHAT a shock!! When I signed on, there it was! I strangely, unexpectedly, got the biggest surprise. I had won a journal award for this year. WOW! When I was in high school I used win awards every year. Got a couple of accomodations from the army, That made me proud. In general in life though, eve

Congratulations Everyone!!

You have worked hard... Greetings!! To all of the 2009 Award winners (and especially those of you winning the Journal Awards) a sincere congratulations to you all!! It takes courage to put your thoughts out there in your journals and to (hopefully) inspire someone else with your own experiences and adventures. In a way you expose your vulnerabilities in the writings and it takes a brave heart. All the best, and thanks for the inspirations!!

Dip in the market.

As of recently, it seems to be a much better time to be a collector. I have been taking many courses in business due to my major. In some cases I have seen a paralel between the coin and economic market. Coins have not seemed to take quite as hard of a hit as other sections of the economy. The recent 1913 liberty nickel sale is evidence of this. (sold for $3,737,500 by Heritage auctions). On the price range of coins which the rest of us collectors purchase, I have seen a drop in prices.

A Good Hair Day of Sort

But definitely not with a strong Boston accent All of the holiday guests have gone home and things have settled back into there semi-normal routine around the house. As peace and quiet once again is the order of the day, it seemed like a perfect time to take a break from the mid-week routine and pull out my box of carded coins and look through them to see what I could find. Many of the coins in this box came from the coins my parents had collected and stashed away over the years. When my dad g

Which is better, a 1920 MS-66 Brown coin or a MS-65 Red Lincoln cent?

Both coins are the same in point values, but the red is harder to find? I have been thinking about a coin I own, which is better to keep and hope go up in value, a red ms-65 or a brown ms-66 1920 Lincoln cent? The population of both coins, should not change much in the near future. Most original rolls of 1920 cents, have been sent in for grading. With the demand for full red coins, if anyone had one, they had it graded, at least trying to cash in on the recent strong coin market! The date

2009/2010 Australia Sea Life Set? No registry for the coins!!

Why is there no registry for the coins, since NGC grades them, I have the first 2 in PF70 ( 5 of each) out of 10k coins!! I just ordered 5 of the Finding nemo fish ones that were just released on 1/4/2010 within the first hour they went on sale!! So i was just looking to add my Australian Sea Life coins graded PF70 by NGC, and i cannot find a registry to add them into!! I mean ok........NGC grades them but doesn't have a spot to add them, I know I would be atleast 1st spot since I have 5 of ea

Nice Coins Heading For the Melting Pot?

as silver value inches towards numismatic value... Like many of you here I have my little silver hoard stash. My hoard is not in the thousands of ounces where a $5 jump in silver prices would be a nice increase in my assets. With a hundred or more ounces, a hugely significant jump of $5 per ounce would not affect me positively financially--especially when that jump would probably indicate some downturns in other areas of investments. What is of interest to me about potential rising silver is

Life?s Little Laments

Sometimes the answers just fall into your lap Holy Cow! Today will be a story I will tell for a long time to come. My wife and I are both teachers as such money is tight. I?ve actually seen Lincoln cry a couple of times I have squeezed him so hard. To that end, coin collecting is much of a challenge finding coins for my sets as it is a challenge finding the funding to purchase the coins. I save my nickels and dimes for a very long time to afford key coins. Just recently, I started buildi

Thoughts from a Relaxing Sunday Afternoon

Feeling sentimental about 2009 already... Greetings!! I have been having a great Sunday doing nothing than relaxing and thinking about the past year and the year just begun. 2009 was a challenging year for me. It was not at all a bad year, nor was it stellar, but it was a year equipped with a good set of changes that I am glad has happened for me. This past year I decided to continue my education and pursue my degrees in General Education and Political Science. This is the most ti

Sometimes It's just not in the cards...

If it's not one thing it's another. I find the time and the energy to try and image some new coins, and, after setting up my camera, I find that the rechargable battery is dead, and I don't have any other batteries, and I can't find the charger... That really just doesn't seem particularly fair. I really need to find that battery charger... Everyone has hopefully had great holidays. December was a wild ride over here as some of you are already partially aware. December 10th was the registry

2010 A Space Odyssey

Arthur C Clarke would be proud we made it. I wonder how many people know that AC actually invented the real AE-35 unit that was (and still is) used for communication between earth and a given satellite. I bet Arthur C Clarke would like to see American Proof Silver Eagles in 2010, don't you? Happy New Year!
