Wow! I just had to share my latest submission results.

I know they are all modern coins but.. I can't believe they all came back 70's. I've had the 3 first spouse coins for a while but needed 2 more coins to meet NGC's 5 coin minimum submission requirements. When I found out there would only be 8000 of the 2009 Proof Platinum eagles minted and that the UHR sales were ending I decided to order one of each. Boy I'm glad I did! The first spouse pics have been added to my registry sets. The Platinum Proof Eagle is below. Enjoy! 001 2009 ULTRA HIG

Metals

Metals are still just a commodity As much as I like the gold and silver standard that this country was founded on vs. the fiat system we have today, copper, mickle, silver, gold, platinum, rhodium, and paladium metals are still a commodity. Today feels like 1976-1979 all over again, with a government that just raised the debt ceiling to over $14 trillion dollars to cover the President's deficit laiden budget gift to Congress. (I'm not angry, I vote!) Proof...We've gone through the housing

79 Type-1 PF-70 #1 Jeff Nick

First 79 type 1 to grade NGC PF-70 Well, I lucked out again!!!! Scored the first 1979 type 1 Jefferson nickel to grade NGC PF-70. As an added bonus-first one on the invoice, so number -001. Goes great with my pop 1 (for now) 82, also number -001. The gentleman graded 2 70's, and gave me the first one!!! Thanks Mark!!! I will try to be patient, coin should arrive next week!!!! Can't wait. You all will have to check my registry set after it arrives, as I don't know how to put photos in

Error Dollar

A link to a picture of our Thomas Jefferson error dollar. The following link should work to show everyone what this coin looks like. Any feedback is welcome. http://profile.imageshack.us/user/commandokid69/ I have added more pics, and you might have to search for the dollar pic. It seems to be the last one on the last page now.

WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS?

and you doubt an NCG grade! Hello everyone! I just got this nice 1965 NZ penny back from PCGS. I sent 4 in the OGP. Three graded as MS64, and this. I'll leave it to the experts. I personally think they blew this one!

Unexpected Emergency

Have to wait to submit my coins A bank screw up has left us broke this month until they can fix it, so I have to wait an extra month to renew my full subscription and get my 5 free submissions sent in. I plan to use the 5 to send in my 4 Proof Prez Dollars, and one of my Merc Dimes. Inside the proof set of dollars is the error Thomas Jefferson with extra wisp I have spoken about earlier. The dime will probably be either my 1945 Micro-S, or the best one from the 40's that I can find. I will con

Mercury Dimes

Raw Coins To Send To NGC? I was just curious how good your luck has been with raw coins (Merc Dimes) sent in to grade at NGC? I have an almost complete set I want to certify, but I am afraid of too many of them coming home in a body bag from being 'improperly cleaned' or some such none sense. This has happened to a few raw coins I have sent in the past. I was wondering how good a chance I have of getting them slabbed from raw stock. Anything in particular to look for? Do I need a stronger form

Looking for error

Have Not Seen One Yet My Thomas Jefferson Dollar (PF) with the extra wisp of hair that we have may be a one of a kind. My extensive research from everywhere I can think of has not turned up one other example of error like we have. According to the Redbook, it could be classified as a #4 error (defective die), or a #7 error (lamination flaw). I am still using my 2008 edition of the Red Book, so unless they have listed one in there, another one has not been discovered, or just have not surfaced

Grading Submission

My first submission turning out to be bad experience. So i submitted 3 coins back on the 21st of January. The first worries were provided by the Postal Service. It took 6 days to go from Clarksville Tennessee to NGC. I was wondering if the Pony Express was used. They arrived on the 27th and I was relieved! I was thinking that I would get them back pretty fast because I submitted them Express. Well today is the 2nd and they are still listed in the Quality Control. It seems that 48 hours is real

Gold and Silver Oh My!!!!!!! Dear Journal: Quite a few things have happened since last I wrote. My best purchase of the New Year to date came last night in the form of a 1902s Cornet head w/motto ? eagle PCGS MS62. I won it in an eBay auction. That I am an auction junkie I would have to admit, I have placed bids on three other ? eagles in the Sunday Teletrade Auction with the hopes of winning at least one of them. All the ones that I have and am bidding on are S mints, I have always thought of

Upgrading as I can

What a day .......... Today I upgraded my 1967 SMS Kennedy from a MS67 to an MS67UC. This was one hard coin to find. Collectors are NOT parting with this high of grade very often so the acquisition of it makes it all that much sweeter. Also to top it off I have now climbed into the TOP 30. I never thought when I started collecting these that I would break into the TOP 50 but then that was my goal last year to make TOP 40. I know and I have no desire nor the resources to make it to #1 or c

Things Are Looking Up...

...and happy days are here again!!! Today has been a really, REALLY good day. My weekend is Sunday and Monday, which is ok with me, as I can do errands and personal business on Mondays. My first order of business today was to go to the bank and city hall. I needed to put some cash from my pay check into my checking account, but the best thing was I caught up my interest on my bank loan. I also needed to pay my water bill, so over to city hall I went. So, what this means is, all I have left to

I HAVE A FEW ROLLS OF THE 2010 CENTS IN HAND(SEE PHOTO)

I AM THINKING ABOUT SENDING THESE IN FOR A PRE-RELEASE LABEL IF I CAN GET NGC TO PUT THE PRE-RELEASE ON THE LABEL!?! I WAS ABLE TO PURCHASE A FEW OF THESE ROLLS THIS WEEK, UNFORTUNATELY ONE OF THE ROLLS WAS BUSTED WHEN I RECEIVED IT. SO I AM DEBATING ON GETTING THAT ROLL GRADED. THERE WASN'T ANY LOOSE COINS BUT THE ROLL HAS BEEN TORN A LITTLE. BUT IF I CAN GET NGC TO PUT SOME KIND OF DESIGNATION ABOUT BEING RELEASED EARLY ON THE LABEL IT IS A SURE THING TO HAVE THEM GRADED. I AM ALSO GOING TO

The Eagle has Landed

received my first Silver Eagle for 2010! About two weeks ago I was Channel surfing when I came across Robert Chambers. He was selling Silver Eagles, of course he had the guy with him that's always trying to unsell what Robert is selling. I forced myself to keep watching what Robert had to say about the Eagles. Well I purchased two! I sure hope they come out with the PROOF ones for 2010!

AND YOU THINK YOU'LL BE FIRST - NOT!!!

I guess you cannot ever be sure of anything? Hello everyone! If you're planning to go to Illinois for the FDOI, 2010, Lincoln cents with the shield reverse. FORGET IT!!! A bag of 5000 is already out, rolled, and being found in circulation. You may have to go to Puerto Rico instead. That's where they have them. Ebay has them too(so I am told)! So much for mint security. Just wait until you see a few 2009 PF and MS Eagle pop up. I guess there truly is no honor among anyone......anymor

Another One Bites the Dust - Queen

NGC MS67 1971 Lincoln Memorial Hi everyone. Raining and cool in Florida today and I was just listening to some Queen and working on my sets. Well another coin bought and another slot Bites the Dust. This is my latest addition to my Lincoln Memorial Set. This was also purchased using money from my recent coin sale. Off to a good start this year and I am looking forward to establishing my goals I set for myself. Freddie Mercury-you rocked on in life and you rock on in death. As always, t

Playing With My Coins

Or doing school work As luck would have it, 5 to 10 inches of snow in Central North Carolina means the schools are closed today. I really do not have anywhere to go but I do have a long list of things to get done for school. Unfortunately, the motivation is just not there. I would much rather update the photos and descriptions of my coins for my registry sets. That is where the guilt starts to come into play. If I could just figure out how to get the work done quickly which is unlikely, there

New Lincoln cents

Any body else as excited about these as I am!? So as i assume you are all aware the new Lincoln cents come out in February. The design was the same for 100 years minus last years designs that celebrated both 100 years of the lincoln design (obverse obviously) and Lincoln's 200th birthday. Now as a collector that doesn't collect anything after 1921 i am very excited to see a new design that reminds me of a classic design. For those of you that haven't seen the reverse design here it is. You ca

...has a silver lining. First, I want to thank everyone who sent me nice messages. Your thoughts are truly appreciated. What really got to me the last 5 weeks are all the fine people who sent me cards, or messages or stopped me and talked to me on the street or at work. Knowing there are so many fine, caring people in this great country of ours was sometimes almost more than I could handle. It truly makes me appreciate all the good things and people in my (and our) lives. There really is a s

2010 NGC Silver Eagles MS70

I found a place still taking orders online for $99 After watching the activity on Ebay on the 2010 Silver Eagles and others reporting the poor quality and the USMint limiting production... its hard to get a good feeling just what the real situation could be. I broke down and ordered one from the very company that advertises on our webpage here. http://www.moderncoinmart.com Their site said they sold out right away but are expecting more for delivery later this week. The 2010 Lincoln Shield Cent is already out

and NGC has already graded some The 2010 Shield Cent has been out for over two weeks now. It was released in Puerto Rico last month (Jan) from some banks there. And some of those released have already been graded by NGC, see their web site for the story and pictures. The man in PR is selling the rolls on ebay for upwards of 10.00. I personally am glad to see these brand new shield cents as it was about time for a change to the Memorial rev. Now if I can just convince CS to start a new seri
