NGC JUST GRACIOUSLY LETS ME COMPETE, EVEN WITH THE ABUNDANCE OF MY COINS sitting in PCGS Slabs...

Greetings Collectors,

I had been going through a few of my sets of late thinking perhaps I had a slim chance of an award, not a "top tier set" but in some other category. I called NGC and spoke with Amy who I have spoken with on many occasions, about numerous topics, and inquired as to the requirements needed for consideration. I knew that there were those that last year, they "did not" have the Number #1 set in a series but won anyway as in a "Best Presented" or something like that. None of my sets are even close to being #1 so best presented would be the "only" way an award would come my way.

I asked Amy did the judges look at every set in every series? because if they did, that would be a zillion sets they would have to look through for that particular type of award. She was not sure exactly how they did it, but asked me to hold and she would share the "rules" in order to be considered for that type of award. I then told her that I would love to be "looked at" for my Mercury" dime "middle set" as it was kind of a "special" set due to the fact each coin resides in an original "old green holder" Rattler holders. Well actually all are in the "rattlers" except a couple that were in the second generation "OGH"'s The set, I was told, would have to be a set that was "made up" of at least "Half" that were "housed" in NGC holders, this being one of several requirements. Duh, then that one thing "blows me out of the water" on not only that set but my Franklin and Walker halves as well, as the majority of those slabbs are PCGS.

I then began to look, and just about every set but a couple, has more than 50% that are PCGS holdered. My Silver Eagles, Proof & MS would qualify as far as having more than "half" NGC coins, but all the pic's are "old ones" done by my daughter and they (the photos) "stink". I then have my $20 Gold coins and my $5 Gold Eagles which are for the most part, NGC coins, but aside from that, there is nothing special about them. They sure aren't even close to "#1 status".

As I thought about our registry here and compared it with the one at PCGS, it suddenly "dawned" on me that for all practical purposes, I shouldn't even be here. It then became clear that we are all very "lucky" to have the "rules" we have at this NGC Collectors Society. Rules that allow PCGS coins along with the NGC ones. It is only out of the goodness of their heart, that I/we can share these coin sets at all. And having said that, I just want to thank The NGC Collectors Society for the priviledge of being able to list "all" of my coins and Sets here. It "IS" an honor and a "Priviledge" to be able to do that. I do hope they never change this policy & it would be nice to see PCGS "follow suit" by allowing NGC coins to compete at their registry. But I seriously doubt PCGS will ever get on board with that "fair" and "balanced" approach. Anyway, I just wish I had a few more like the one pictured here, in a good ol NGC slab...

Thanks Again NGC!

Happy Collecting!
