Koala Quest

I fell for the Koala's I began to collect Koalas in 2013. I soon set a goal to collect the perfect set. As I searched and found them one at a time it came down to a few that where very hard to find in a 70 grade. The 2008 gilded koala was the hardest. My Updated Sesqui Gold Commemorative

A beautiful new piece. About three years ago I bought an MS 63 gold Sesquicentennial commemorative. I love the design of this coin, both the obverse and the reverse are intriguing. On the obverse you have Liberty holding the Declaration of Independence in one hand, and the Torch of Freedom in the other. Unusual Congo Pattern Discovery

Unusual Variety Find! I just bought a rare Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire) 1970 Pewter Essai KM E4 Pewter of KM13 from a major auction company. It weighs 14.36g, uniformed bust three-quarters right, rev. arms, value below, essai stamped below. This seems to be an odd variety that has the word Zaires instead of Zaire on the reverse for the denomination. U.S. Philippines PCGS Crossovers

My experience with PCGS crossovers has been very different than the earlier posts on this topic. Over the past few years I have submitted many PCGS graded U.S. Philippine Proof coins to NGC for crossover and all but one have crossed at the PCGS grade or higher. NGC treats U.S. Philippine coins in a somewhat schizophrenic manner in that are considered U.S. Coins in the NGC Registry and the NGC Population Reports but are graded by the NGC World Coin Grading Staff. Perhaps your coins did not meet the requirements to be crossed over? I hope your coins did not meet a grader that was having a bad night? and you were the recipient of his bad judgement. It happens, I know that for a fact. A difficult year

I had to become more discerning, as a collector. Hi there! Fellow collectors. What a year, for me. Let's see. Where to begin.. Collecting wise. I had to cut back last year, becoming a more descerning collector. I took a bad fall at work, which almost ended my time on this earthly plain. I fell 12 ft. Onto my head. A New Year and A New Direction

Breaking up is hard to do!!! So, here we are, a New Year and the contemplation of changing direction in my collecting endeavors. Breaking away from my proof sets will be an emotional change and I'm not really sure I will!! eBay made the right decision

Fraud averted I had noticed a ebay member with zero feedback selling a 1807 high relief-flat edge $20 double eagle in a PCGS holder, the grade stated MS65. The problem is that no certification number was listed, also the slab was so blurred you couldn't read anything, there appeared two stock photos that were clear. NEW NGC HOLDERS

I am liking the new NGC holders! I recently purchased a NGC MS 69 2015 Burundi Silver African Lion Series coin from Modern Coin Mart and noticed that NGC has new holders. The label field is much larger and there are two lips on each side of the label field to hold the label flat and smooth. I know personally I have several labels that are bunched up or uneven, hopefully this new holder will solve that issue. I also noticed that the hologram that usually dominates the entire bottom of the label

My First 2015 Dated Coin Arrived Today

Getting a jumpstart on a new year and a new set..... I have had a new idea for a topical themed collection as my primary interest for 2015. I must admit that a combination of factors have contributed to this. 1954 D/D/D

I picked up a roll of 1954-D cents. Still in original bank roll I was surprised to find that the roll had not been tampered with at all!. In it were all of the coins that I was expecting, and more. 9 1954 D/D/D cents. all in good shape and crying to get a grade. 35.00 spent. way more on the grading part. But the returns? priceless.. Found an 2009 one dollar bill error in my wallet

Found error dollar in wallet, is it a rare error??? I hope I did the summiting paper work correct for PMG. These guy love perfect paperwork. Found an one dollar error bill in my wallet, what caught my attention to it was that good old George looked like a wolfman. Heavy print lines, in George's portrait.
