Picked up another rarity for my registry set. I have been attempting to fill the 1953-2012 Canada Circulated 1 Cent Set for a while now. In this set, there are a number of modern rarities which makes this collection very difficult to complete. The Presidential Gravy Train

Has derailed. So, a week or so ago, I logged in and saw that I lost around 16K points. As we all have seen by now, the Presidential Dollars plummeted, points-wise. My World Crown Affair

Old Map -- New Presentation

What do you think of this type of coin presentation? I love the look of old historic maps so I thought I would try to use one as the background with a coin of, roughly, the same period. My coin is a 1629 Scudo of Odoardo Farnese, the Duke of Parma and Piacenza, from 1622 - 1646. The map is from 1699, by Phillip Lea of Cheapside, London. How I purchased a 1971 Assay Commission medal for $17. To everyone who enjoys searching through eBay for a few hours, I can truly say there are bargains out there waiting. Scratch--Obverse detailes When I started my raw Washington Quarter set, I bought only BU coins. I paid a retail price for most of them. As I completed the set I decided to grade the keys. The Lions share of the Keys were graded Unc-details obverse scratch. Though I contributed to this problem I was upset at the number of Ebayers that did not disclose this. I am wiser now. Great Little Belgian Congo Error

A Real Doubled Die I discovered this charming little Belgian Congo 1944 1 Franc error several years ago and had it conserved and graded by NCS/NGC. I could never get a good photo of this coin until today. The coin is graded as a NGC AU55. Regardless of grade this is an exceptional find for this series. TO STICKER OR NOT TO STICKER

Do we need CAC, MAC and now PQ? Scrape off those stickers! I know evolution is a reality for many things. I'm sure coin grading is well involved (or should I say, ensnared) in a manufactured market regarding our wonderful coins. I started collecting before all this static came into the picture. I am back!!!!!

Back into the collecting fold!!!! Well, after an absence of a few years, I have returned to collecting!!!!!! I have been adding a few coins here and there to my sets. Doing my silver Eagles first, but dabbing in a few other coins as well. Feels good to be back at it again!!!!! I am going to go a lot slower this time around. Spectacular Bronze Toners

Thanks CaptBrian1 for your recent Journal on "Understanding Toned Coins". To continue the thread that you started I would like to emphasize that spectacular toning is not limited to Silver coins. Bronze and Copper coins can also develop spectacular toning. While both NGC and PCGS give preference in their Registries for Bronze coins with the coveted Red (RD) designation I have seen many beautifully toned Red Brown (RB) coins with eye appeal that blows away full Red specimens of the same grade.

Understanding Toned Coins

Do not tone it down Coin toning can actually up or lower the value of coins. Natural coin toning can be quite beautiful. It can also be quite ugly. And because beauty is often times in the eye of the beholder, placing a value on a coin due to its toning can present problems. Should you pay extra or less for toned coins? Mint State and Proof Howdy Friends, Just added two new coins to my Kennedy registry a 2014 D MS68 from Datentype one of my favorite eBay sellers and a PF70UC 2015 S Clad. Had some issues registering the Clad and a commemorative silver dollar but the customer service folks at NGC took care of things in a few days now all my coins are showing up in their sets, valid for their slots and with points assigned.
