NGC REQUEST: 1971 Dahomey Proof Set The coins of the 1971 Proof Dahomey Set have been exploding in value over the past 5 years. In 2009, I sold the 500 Franc coin in NGC PF67 for $80. They are now selling for almost $500 in that grade. The trois presidents gold coin just sold for $3800.       Please add this set to the registry. NGC Registry Awards 2014 - New Rules Regarding Obscured Sets

Every year, NGC awards the top Competitive Sets and Custom Sets in the NGC Registry. To qualify, your sets must be registered by 5 p.m. ET on Dec. 3, 2014. Winners will be announced Jan. 9, 2015. Obscured sets will not be considered for awards. Oops another New Orleans notable

The 1839-O half-dollar was the first minted in New Orleans and not Philadelphia! How could I forget the first New Orleans half-dollar. This has always been a favorite of mine. Although many reference books describe the first New Orleans half-dollar as being one of the few 1838 proof issues, current research suggests most if not all, most likely all, were minted in Philadelphia. New Orleans Type Set Finally complete!

Added the last of the New Orleans issues to complete the type set. Finally, I finished my New Orleans type set. Although the registry has a Carson City--one per denomination, a type set, the New Orleans Mint has not been deemed worthy of such a designation. Nevertheless, after completing the Carson City set, I slowly, over several years, worked to complete a New Orleans type set. 2005 WV Die Break @8PM MS66

Only One... I have a 2005 WV die break NGC cert MS66 @8PM...   I see die breaks at 4PM all over the place but I have yet to see one at 8PM.   Has anyone found or know where I can find it as I'd like to sell it but not give it away...   In my registry NGC has "No Price" but on eBay the 4PM's go for around $30-40.   With the rarity or assumed araity, can anyone add any info to help.   Thanks To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New coin with spots graded that way

I just bought this coin and I have one question. My 2014 Baseball Hall Of Fame Coin MS 70 First Release has three spots on it (and I think they are bad). When you look up the cert on http://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/index.aspx?CertNumber=3866977-008 you can see two of the spots. My question is do I contact NGC on about this coin (Because it is no 70 when they graded it) or do I contact the person that sold it to me? I wanted this one because it was First Release to match my other one.

Does NGC Certify 1oz Bullion Bars?

I have many rare 1oz bullion bars. Will NGC grade them as genuine? Does anyone know if NGC certifies rare bullion bars? I know they fit into their holders, because the RCM playing card money fits into NGC holders. My Dahlonega and Stone Mountain GA. Trip

There's Gold in them there hills...... Hi All,       About a week late in posting this entry, but attached are a few pics of the trip.       Visiting Dahlonega was certainly worthwhile. Of note, the Gold Museum now houses a complete Dahlonega Gold collection in addition to a great collection of scales and other mining tools, pics and memorabilia.       The complete Dahlonega gold set was housed in what appeared to be a customized Capital Display holder. 1959 Proof Set

Usually they are disappointing. I purchased a 1959 Proof set for $22.00. I did not really have high expectations. Usually they are stained and poor strikes and a few dings.   This time...wow...I was very impressed and excited.   I didn't waste anytime to submit all five with some others I have been holding on until I had enough to make it worth it.       Here is my prediction:   Penny PF68 (maybe Cameo)   Nickel PF68 (possible PF69)   Dime PF68 (outside chance for Cameo)

NGC Turn-Around times

Really! When can a customer expect a company to do right by them? When it comes to NGC and their grading times I never know what to expect. I have taken a long lay-off from this society and NGC for this very reason and it hasn't got any better! NGC charges extra exorbitant fees in order to process coins faster but is it really faster. Example, I have one gold Kennedy that I put through as express. This tier is suppose to have a 48 hour turn-around. It currently says three working days on the w

My first ANA World's Fair of Money

Custom Set Update

I have no idea the last time I updated this one. I had a look at the custom set that I created for the Lincoln Satins today. It's been some time since I paid it any heed. It has been tucked behind that little tab for years. It was filled with 67's, 68's and a few MS69's. DO THE BIG GUYS ON THE BLOCK I.E. AUTHORIZED PURCHASERS, INTERNET SELLERS, AND BIG STORES GET THE BEST COINS FIRST? I guess this is my time to vent.
