First time on Ebay

I think I did OK I scored a WashMS64 Error NGC for 64.98 shipping inc. Also got an Adams Proof 70 UC 117.00 shipping inc. I have spent the last 2 months just watching here in the journals, chat rooms, and EBay. It was finally time to get my feet wet. Watching your posts gave me the guts to try my hand. Searcher

Don't panick Jack

Probably not counterfiet. So far there are no known cases of counterfiet ngc slabs. Now, as with all things it takes a little while before a coin that has been slabbed recently to be added to the database. I would contact NGC if you haven't already seen something saying they're checking on it. I'm sure they'll sort it out for you and get your coin added to your set. I ran into the same problem with one of the first few coins I wanted to add on the day I joined the registry. Within 24 hours N

Possible counterfiet NGC capsule

PF 70 Slap in the face. This morning I was entering a 1999-P SBA into a competition set in the registry, my first PF70; an exciting moment for me since I just starting collecting coins this year. It is NGC certified and not in the data base. Possible conterfiet? My heart sank. We'll see what happens.

YOU NEVER KNOW....

When That SPECIAL Coin Will Pop Up!!! I'm so excited that I can hardly sit still in front of the keyboard! Earlier this week, I called a favorite dealer about a couple of coins on his website. As we were talking, I casually asked about any new additions he might have to his Half Dime inventory. He paused for a second, and than said, "Do you need an 1853-0 N/A in AU? HELL YES, YOU GOT ONE?! (I yelled to myself) "I'd be interested." I calmly said to him. "We just got it, so it hasn'

Certified coins only I checked out your 1928P all though It looks from the Picture to be F-VF it could be alot better It is so hard to judge by just looking at a picture. I won't buy anything on Ebay that is not NGC of PCGS for my our collections. All though I am an Ebay power seller and do buy raw coins on ebay but only for resale. I have found that Ebay is for Buyers there are so many coins for sale that the prices are diven down. In the area where I live the number of coin shops is very lim

Another of my useless trivia questions.

I think this one will be tough!! Put on your thinking caps!! WIN WIN TWO TWO COINS COINS!! Ok. There is (again) no trivia question from NGC, so I will post one from MGC (Mike's Goofy Coins). What is the "name" of this coin?? Listed in "Coin Collectors' Handbook" ? 1971, page 41. Hint: "supposedly" designed from Revolutionary soldier's buttons. Winner will be picked at random from emails received through this site (only) with the correct answer. Winner will receive not only the 1961

Re: Re: Lesson turns to indignation

I don't think so. One coin was an 1881-O. Its is a nice coin. Conservatively based on close examination and comparisons to other coins in similar condition, this should have been an MS64/65. The grading is definitely inconsistant and all over the map within this 9 coin group.

Lesson turns to indignation

Just graded coins back from NGC show no consistancy My previous journal talked about my first attempt at buying and having graded a group of raw morgans. I made my observations and comments off of the image files I received a day ahead of the actual slabbed coins. My attitude was live and learn. Now that I have the coins in hand, I really have to wonder what the NGC graders were smoking. The body-bagged coin is in better shape than another that did get slabbed. Cleaning was the indicated p

UP UP AND UP IT GOES

THE NUMBERS OF THESE ARE INCREDIBLE WELL, I WAS JUST CHECKING ON THE NUMBERS OF THE 2007 W UNC. WELL IT HAS REACHED 6800 AND CLIMBING, THAT HAS BEEN GRADED AS 70s. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE MINT IS DOING AN AWSOME JOB AT MINTING AND HANDLING THESE COIN.   HOPE THEY KEEP IT UP!!!(THE MINT, THAT IS)   UNFORTUNATLY, THIS SENDS THE VALUES OF THESE COINS DOWN DUE TO THE SHEAR NUMBERS BEING GRADED AS 70s. BUT TO THOSE OF US WHO ARE FINANCIALY CHALLENGED, AS MYSELF, MEANS WE CAN AFFORD SOME OF TH

...Do I keep or sell my satin finish state quarters? I had planned to write about the American Bank Note plates that Stack's have been offering in my next journal article. But tonight I added some more coins and edited my Wild West Signature Set, and that got me to thinking about my satin finish state quarters. It seems redundant to me to have the normal finish state quarters, plus the satin finish coins, plus the proofs of the state quarters. I'm using the proofs in my signature set, so now

Rough Grading Experience

Lessons learned, so not a complete waste of money! Had my first significant NGC submission yeild it's results today. I sent in 9 Morgans. The results were what I should have expected from reading many journals and forum articles here. An WGC MS67 (RavalexCoins) 1881-O came out as an NGC AU58. That was my biggest looser. But then I did do this as a personal confirmation about the comments I have read about this EBay vendor. The other source was TRBCoins on EBay. All their coins took a one

Not as bad as I thought

But it aint over yet Well, I have made it through 4 days chemo, and after Friday, no more til after the radiation, which is next month, probably first week. I sold one of my Merc dime sets, and my 1946 PDS mint set, but I have it listed again, cause the guy had a sickness in the family, -- but he offered to pay the seller fees, which was cool. I want to send my 1998 and 2000 Clad Proof sets in soon, followed by 2001, thru 2006. I dont have my 2007 yet, but will soon. Then I go backwards, 1997

In pursuit of Peace

Two new additions Well I just added two important Coins to my Peace dollar collection A 1921 and a 1934S the 21 is an AU and the 34S is a XF. Now I'm in search of a 1928P in AU-MS60. I just missed on a MS60 the other day in an Ebay action for a very reasonable price. I hope to complete my collection by years end. Then selectively up grade it. On another note I just sent in 5 2007W American Silver Eagles for grading hoping to get Some MS70s to help increase my points total. Thats all for now.

Re: Is it just me? Making the connection

It's always nice but not always attainable. I like to be able to handle coins, have the coin actually in my hand but it's something I very rarely get to enjoy, even with my raw coins. My system is very hard on metal. I have to wear a watch that's made of stainless steel. Anything else and I'll cause any metal pieces to rust over in 2 to 3 months. I love coin collecting but I've long since learned that if I have a nice coin and I want it to stay nice then I can't touch it.

History is a part of life. Its funny because back in school history is a joke. History is always around us. I would love to know what our founding fathers thought about, or what was their favorite beer was. I would love to live for the day that mankind can touch a peice of something such as a 1885 VF condition Morgan an

Is it just me? Making the connection

To make that one-on-one connection with the coin, it's history. We all hurry to acquire certifed coins or rush to get our raw coins graded and encapsulated. Preserving them for all time! I am no different, but I find that I miss being able to interact with the coin. To handle it, hold it and feel it's true weight. To make that one-on-one connection with the coin, it's history. Sadly I wish we could have our cake and eat it too, but I understand how important it is to preserve our jewels to

Also sad and disappointed!!

All 7 2006 proof coins graded PF68UCAM were from 2006 Legacy Sets. The penny, dime, nickel, half, dollar and 2 Franklin Founding Father silver dollars were just graded PF68UCAM. How can that happen? They all came from 2006 Legacy sets. They should be called 2006 Worthless-Legacy sets. You would think that these coins would grade higher than that. These coins are not worth selling. I don't know what to do with them now. Im not buying any more so-called Legacy sets.

To your amazement, you discover you have lost several hundred points and a slot or two (maybe more) in your rank. You open your set only to find coins have been removed from your set, separated into different designations and scores have been changed! I'm sure it's happened before but this is a first for me. The Morgan Dollar Euphoria

To begin the Morgan Dollar History it is important to understand the origin of the primary metal, Silver. This is not just any silver it is silver from the State of Nevada and specifically the Comstock Mine outside of Carson City. (Or at least the Comstock Mine was the primary source) In 1848, the discovery of gold at Sutter's Mills, set off the Great California Gold Rush of 1849. The primary route to California Gold was through the Mountain passes of the Northern Sierra?s. In the spring
