"Computer Dummy in Florida needs Help!"

May have wasted half a day on these photo's... After taking several dozen photo's they appear to be just a little large. My daughter used a top of the line "Cannon" and was set on the lowest possible setting and the pics are still too large. Does anyone have any tips on where to go from here or has all the time spent thus far been in vain? Should not the web site be able to convert these pics to the right size? Thanks to everyone in advance... WKF

RE: Cooker & The Bandwagon (Silver and others!)

Silver and Platinum CAN be had, or at least WERE had recently... Cooker: First, that is a great story, I can almost see the tears in the eyes of the merchant as he reluctantly handed you the bar of silver at the old price. I mean, he snoozed, so he lost -- what dealers HAVEN'T raised their prices because of the run-up in silver (or other noble metals) lately? That said, I have a story of my own, involving the U.S. Mint actually. At the very end of January, I was perusing the Mint's we

1959-Date Lincolns

I recently purchased a couple of hard to find coins for this set. I purchased an NGC MS68 1995P a couple of weeks ago. As of today, there are only 25 graded by NGC as MS68 and none finer. Two or three days ago I was out bid on an MS68 1995D. I thought for sure I had lost my chance on this coin. I was pretty bummed out. As luck would have it, I found another one tonight in a BIN auction for $100. I jumped on it since the last one I bid on sold for several dollars higher. There are onl

Getting in on the Silver Bandwagon.

Silver climbing nicely I went into a Nurismatic Pawn Shop the other day. Just wanted to see if he could get my (5) loose and shiney Carson City Morgans 1884-1889 graded. He said now I can do it directly and gave me the NGC website address.I noticed a 16 oz Silver $1000 bullion bar in his show case selling for $125 less than the current market price. I said I wanted it! When he picked it up and handed it to me, he said I have to reprice it at todays market rate of 19.97 / oz first. I told him h

Panda Den Growing

Just received from NGC! ..Well I hit my latest "POT HOLE" on my journey to collect Panda Coins! I don't know what the problem "IS". I know if you want to play in the game with the big boys, 0 points won't get you in. The one thing both pot holes have in common are, they were purchased from the same dealer. ..The Panda I have shown will be going to my newest and first great-grandchild in May! It's a Girl, by my first granddaughter. I love it went the grandchildren come over, you spoil them, a

Eagles and Commemoratives

With all of the talk of these coins lately I decided to jump on the band wagon as well. Yesterday I added registry sets for the Modern Commems (Complete, Halves and Dollars) and added a few coins to the sets. I also added the SAE MS set to my registry and added a couple of coins to that set. In addition, I have always wanted to collect a little gold, so I added the 1/10th oz. MS Gold Eagles to my registy and am currently bidding on a couple of those coins. For now, I'll try to complete th

Moving Back Up in the Ranks

My 94 and 95 Silver Eagles arrived today. My 96 has been entered into my set YAY!!! Greetings!! After much anticipation and some findings of great deals, I finally got my 94 and 95 Silver eagles, at the same time today. I was also quite relieved to have seen my 96 was entered into my set after a week of waiting. This moves me back into the 200's so far as my ranking goes. The coins are all beautiful, and have been well taken care of, no scratches on the holders, no toning. I am gla

A New Record????

4 Days... I think this may be a new record for turnaround time. 4 days from invoice date to finalized/shipped for a modern submission (normally 12 day turnaround). These are my "Skinny Chickens". The unc .50 got a MS70, unc $1 got MS69 and the three proofs got PF69 UC. Not quite what I was hoping for gradewise, but the turnaround time is great.

Hard decision

So many coins, where to Start...... SO after a buckshot approach of buying coins that I liked that were ptiched to me I have decided to lay down some ground rules and be focused on a specific period. This means I will have to get rid of some coins I recently purchased and stick to my new program. I am only collecting USA coins that were in circulation from the period 1793 to 1799. I think this will narrow the field and allow me to learn the history associatd with the era and the coins of tha

Breaking down! In the market for a gold coin!

With good reason! Today I was paid our annual bonus. And I found I had deducted the same $400 payment twice in my check book so I decided it was found money and I deserve to reward myself. So I expect to be adding a NGC graded 2007-W MS70 1/10 oz. to my set soon. I hope to be the winner of the item in less than 1 hour. Update: I won it at $119. I'm happy! This is an MS70 NGC 1/10 oz.

2007-D sacagawea in high grades is hard to find

Not so smart after all I was bidding on e-bay last year and noticed that ms-67 golden dollars were hard to come by. I thought I would be smart and order some bags from the mint. I ordered 2 bags (500 coins) and went through them all. I found 7 worthy of sending in. They looked as good as all the other ms-67's I have in my collection so I thought this would be a good send. I had 2 that had deep refections and thought for sure they would pl or even dpl. Again I own some pl's and these were bette

My 2008 Presidential Proof Set has Arrived!!

Still awaiting my Silver Eagles... Greetings!! After much waiting and being patient (sort of) my 2008 Prezzies have arrived, and whata great looking set it is. As I have mentioned before, I'll probably never send them in for grading, as I really like the mint holder they come in, just plain impressive. This is a set that I am proud to be collecting as I have been able to "get on board" from the beginning, and plan on completing the set when all is said and done in 2016. The mint sent

Sometimes losing an auction is better??? WHAT!!!!!

When does losing an auction turn in to a BIG win? Easy when you get a 2nd chance offer, that's when. Last week in a moment of insanity, after tasting the top ten in the Mint State Presidential Dollar category. (I dropped to 12th the very next day.) I decided that I needed to up grade my Monroe's to MS67 even though I had just bought and add some MS65's. So off I went in search of my prize, and it didn't take long for me to find them. I quickly ran a search to see what they have been going for.

Went 5 Large.....Again

Gotta stop doing this Well the lovely Heritage Auction closed last night and I found myself bidding on a ton of coins I had pretty much sworn off. I have four rather sizeable shipments comning in and I doubt that I will be able to intercept all of them before my wife sees the mailman. These darn auction sites, enticing us with their pretty gold and silver. Damn them. I saw this one, then that one and what about all of those? Well they were so "cheap"! Cheap to whom? Not to me or my wife
