already listed registry issue

GOT IT DONE!!! Noticed where someone had the same issue as I did with a coin that was already listed in the registry. Scared me a little since I purchased at a show with cash. Was contacted by Amy Lorenzo in just a few hours about the listing. They contacted the previous owner and straightend it out in less than 48 hours. My hats off to the lady for doing such a good job. Thanks NGC staff I think you are doing a good job.

Finally ! Platinum Proof Eagles in Quality Control

It's been a long time coming.. Finally they hit QC earlier today (US time).. the census shows that well over 50% get PF70 for both coins in the set.. fingers crossed!! How happy would I be with both 70's ? VERY I'm going to be disappointed if they aren't.. my set came 3 months after I ordered, after the tornado problem. Here's hoping mine didn't move, or were recoined from GOOD ENOUGH DIES to give me 70's PS grading hasn't been slow. Tier is Modern Special, package RECEIVED 20th, schedul

Slow or what?

SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWW Not complaining, just anxious. OK, now I am getting tired of waiting . I hate waiting period, specially on the grades of my coins but when an Early Bird Tier is taking more then 12 days... well, you all know how I feel. Does anyone else experience this slow grading right now? They received my Early Bird on 3/14/2008 and it is now 3/26/2008 and still in Scheduled to be Graded status... grrrrr Thanks for listening to me Free Numismatics Classified Ads at www.onlinecoi

RE: Here I sit now broken-hearted

Look on the bright side Bruce. The cut off date for that other Grading service is 1965. At least you have 10 more years with NGC and their turnaround for the Modern tier is 20-30 days. So, all that means is that you would pay more and still not get it back any sooner. Mike

Here I sit now broken-hearted

Waiting for the Grading of my 1954 Proof Set to get started Back in the fray again, although this time I suspect that my Grades will take a little longer to get to me than usual. You see, my 1954 Proof Set crossed that mythological boundary set for Modern tier submissions. (1955-above) I always wondered why 1955 was set as the date. It's not that coinage was any different between 1954 and 1955. 1955 just happens to be the line in the sand, and since I'm too cheap to go Early Bird, I went Econo

Making a hard decision

During the last two weeks I have gone through a variety of emotions ranging from pure anger, buyer's remorse, humiliation, sadness, pride, and so forth in terms of coin collecting. I even considered considered selling EVERYTHING! I did, for about a week, remove ALL of my sets from this site and revamp what I listed, to a degree. Wiser heads prevailed and I've made an extremely difficult decision for me, one that I can live with and that family can "live" with. From my previous journal en

Awaiting my 2008 W Uncirculated Silver Eagle

The "beaten path" has become more of a TRENCH to my mailbox now.. Hope everyone had a good Easter holiday! I have been keeping an eye on my account at the Mint website, and am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my 2008 W Uncirc Silver Eagle. Not that I can SEE the mailbox anymore as I have now worn about a 7 foot deep trench from my walking and pacing to the mailbox. Can't wait to see it and subsequently get it graded later in the year. If the uncircs look anything like the Proofs,

Re:Shipping Coins From NGC

It's real simple Hello Lynn, It's real simple, all you need to do is when you send your coins to NGC, on the submission form just go to box 5 (Ship Method)and check the (Registered Mail) box. Then go to the (insurance price table) on the back of the submission form and calculate the insurance to the value of your coins. NGC just doesn't want you to return ship with overnight delivery without a FedEX or usps express mail account. Registered mail is fine ( it only takes about 4 days to get

Cool new website I found

you can buy, sell, trade your coins all for free Hey all, I was browsing around today looking at numismatic websites and found this really cool site. I think it's new because it doesn't have many listings but I think with time it will be one of the major players as there is no other site out there that do what they offer. The site is www.onlinecointrader.com It's pretty much a classified ads website but targeted towards numismatics only. I thought I should share this with you all. Check it

Shipping Coins From NGC

I need advise Just wondering how everyone is receiving their coins presently from NGC. The shipping has now changed on how you receive your retured coins. I presently have coins getting graded at NGC and have not set up a method to ship them home any suggestion?

The "Newbie" in me

Quantity vs. Quality The wiser heads around me tell me I am doing "almost" everything the wrong way. Chief among my sins (of which there are many)is gathering all of the low-hanging fruit. For example, I collect the easy, available 1934-1945 Mercury Dimes. Any 1916-1931 coins that are quick-grabs are also in my collection. Absent are the key coins: 1916D, of course, and 1921, 1921D, as well as the 1942/1P & D. I don't even have the semi-key 1926S. Since I am a normal mortal I must li

First Coin Part II

Beautiful, Ain't they Well i was able to post the picture of one of the coins. Here is the other one. I had forgotten to mention that the names of the counrties are near the bottom of the coin where it appears to be a sea with the name of Iceland, Greenland and Faroe Islands in it ,but spelled in Danish. This two coins (Piastre) wore not meant to be legal coinage for these countries but meant to be used in Danish trade in the Far East. I hope you all find the coins you are looking for, just wi

First Coin to Bare the name of Iceland

Well found them $$$ WOW When i started this Icelandic coin collection I read about two coins that bared the name of iceland on it ( Island,Islan ). And also read that these wore very rare coins. Being the optimist i am at that time i said to my self, i will find them some day and put them in my collection. Well low and behold I didbut not in my collection. What a shock it was to find them, Well these coins wore struck in Copenhagen. Denmark for the years 1771 and 1777. But are very pricey. NGC

Happy Easter Everyone!!

May your Easter baskets be full of COINS!! Greetings again!! I have these memories of waking up Easter mornings when I was very young and finding an Easter basket full of candy on top of the TV set in the living room. I'd rush to see what was in the basket and also get that plastic grass all over the place. I'd eat as much of the candy that was allowed and then ( after getting full of sugar and whilst bouncing off every wall ) my mom would help me get dressed for the annual trip to churc

I've finally Completed it

The 1953-67 silver proof like quarter set Well, I've finally done it. What a feeling of acomplishment. I thought that once complete, I could rest. WRONG!! Now I have an overwhelming feeling to try to crown the set with all mininum grades of PL-67. I guess that the "obsession" has taken control of me. I trully think that the pl-67 thing is a pipe dream. Oh well, I'll give this one more good shot before trying to get my "fix" by working on another set. Hey, go take a look at my babies. There are

Those darn 1807 Bust Halves

I always figured I'd just have to settle for the 1807 large stars 50 over inverted 5 (otherwise known as the 50/20 [sic] {see my registry set for a more detailed discussion of the erroneous 50/20 designation}). I was tickled when I landed a really really nice one in AU55, and never figured I'd own those two really really difficult to find 'large stars' and 'small stars' varieties. And of those 'Bearded Ladies' supposedly so rare but popping up all over the place (I bought one once in a PCGS VF

A New Goal

This one will take me years... Greetings! Well, I have been really stunned by the beauty of the Proof Silver Eagles ever since I received my first one from the Mint last year. I have noticed that the interest in collecting the Proofs is not as great as the uncircs and bullions in the Silver Eagle category. I am not so sure of the reason for this. The Proofs are a bit more expensive to buy from the Mint, but the Mint only produces in the 7 or 800,000 range of these coins per year. So

Looking to the bottom!

This is a new buy opportunity! Buy the dips. I am waiting to see how low it will go first though. I do not feel that the fundemantals of the economy have changed much (still worrisome!) that this IMHO is a price correction/consolidation. Some profit taking but now I hear that the loans called "Jumbo" loans are at an 8% default rate. And I am still waiting to see which "bank" is next in line after Bear Stearns

or so-called "profit-taking," a correction, or some other anomaly, or whether these noble metals were destined to rebound. The bubble is bursting?

Precious Metals are way down. As I type, gold is down $90 from its high ($920 from $1010), Silver is down over $3 ($17.1 from $20.7) and Platinum is down about $400 ($1860 from about $2250). Is the economic/panic bubble that has been running them up collapsing? Are we just seeing a massive sell off from people who have hit their target numbers and are doing profit taking? Did a miracle occur and the dollar has started to rebound?
