COIN SALES

I AGREE W.K.F. Has stated that this forum is not the place for coins sales. I totally agree. There are numerous other venues for that. I, personally have a number of coins to sell, but, not here. If you can't talk about how many coins you submitted or what grade you got, you need to go to another forum or somewhere else. Many of the articles are very good. Pleas keep up the good side. gtg

This Site is not the place to sell coins...

I am starting to see this more and more. Greetings Collectors, I have sat back in silence for the last couple months and have read several posts of people trying to sell their coins here. This may make a few of you mad but, oh well. This is a collectors site and not a store. If you have coins for sale, take them to e-bay or the local flea market. This is not the place. I would like to think the majority of us here while always looking for a good deal on coins, don't want this site

A set without a view

They look great, but only to me I spent about 3 hours today trying to load snapshots into my sets. I know I am computer illiterate so I had my 16 year old son help me. We managed to upload a file in my computer but could not leave the box to transfer. Anyway I did put my 1902 MS-66 up for background and when I logged out of home page I got a 21" view of my coin. I had to sit there in amazement for a while, I never saw it so large. Maybe I'll figure it out later. HAPPY COIN COLLECTING

Some More (Old?) Mexican Silver

Continuing to work on the Mexican Libertads and a little more... Last week one of the other members on the forums was offering a fairly large amount of silver for sale. This is something he doesn't pretty consistantly. He always seems to have a lot of silver available that he wants to unload. Sometimes he moves material, other offerings get offered again in a couple of weeks and new material periodically enters. I saw that he was offering 37 1984 silver libertads a price much lower than I'd

4/26/09 Teletrade

One a more a time OK everyone, get ramped up PLEASE. Teletrade's Auction on 4/26 has about 300 of my coins in it. Most of the modern silver commems and half of the modern gold commems are mine (soon to be yours). I need to maximize the return on these coins. They are my pride and joy but, I need to keep a roof overhead and food in the kid's mouths. Go Large por favor

Focusing Update

and other tidbits I realize it has been a while since I've written. I must admit, I thought I'd be more down in the dump after deciding to focus my collection because of monetary constraints. To my surprise, I've been having fun, plus finding some Mexican coins that I'll be sending in for grading. I guess this would be a good time to give kudos and thanks to Amy and the rest of the staff at NGC for adding new & updating the world registry sets. I do appreciate all the Mexican sets that h

Here's a deal for everyone!

The price is right? I will sweeten the pot too!Good Evening fellow collectors! As I am only known here for what I write, it is time to take the initiative.I am hereby tossing the gauntlet, so to speak. My last journal was for the preservation of collectors as well as preserving a cherished collection. I have made up my mind as to one alternative.I have 1 of 2 sets which I can offer for sale to help a fellow collector through a tough time.I have a 2009 Territorial quarter set in NGC PF 70 UC. All

Moving up, some mile stones in sight

1943d MS67FB is safely in my regisrty and NGC box I am getting close to a couple of mile stones. My total registry points will be hitting 60,000 soon. My ranking will move in to the 700's. I picked up a 1986 Liberty $1 proof last night in a eBay auction for less than melt even after the shipping charges go figure. With the two Lincoln's and Braille's I have my five coin min. I have been "Received"!!! 12-15 Working days to go

i just hope that May Day and Cinco De Mayo aren't Holidays at NGC. I get really impatient waiting for my grades... Back into the arena again. I love the adrenaline rush when the status of my submissions changes. We'll have to see how these do. I'll be real happy if I end up with at least one PF70 on my 2009 Proof Prezzies. I've had the WORST luck in getting those graded, and have gotten a number of surprisingly low grades on my 2007 and 2008 submissions. And I even submit them in their Mint ho

Here we go!

Here we go! What a way to start a journal? The reason I started this entry like this is because I want to start to rebuilt my collection with the best showcase coins. It is going to be hard for, I love the coins I have already. It is very hard to let go, but I need to start. I have to keep track of them and to upgrade to better conditions. I only have a few graded coins, but hopefully I can double this amount by the end of the year. The goal is to have 65 or better and modern at 70. Hard decis

Economic Depression?

That's exactly what it is! Hello all! It is on a somber note I address the Society. The economy has struck the heart and sole of our collecting society. Being a new(and little guy), I can do a lot of the newer coins in lesser grades. I can get results and complete sets quicker and cheaper than those seeking perfection. I come now to a depressing situation. A few collectors, more serious and committed to the hobby, than I, have fallen on hard times. These aren't people like me with o

Three out of Four Ain't too Bad

I'm getting better at predicting the grades I get on my submissions! I always enjoy preparing my raw coins for submission to NGC, especially my latest submission. Before sending my coins in, I usually take photographs of them and try to predict the grade each one will receive. Especially enjoyable, is predicting what grade my proof coins will receive, knowing that they will likely be either PFUC 69 or 70. Recently, I purchased four proof First Spouse gold coins, Martha Washington, Abigail A

The final straw!

How hard is it to take a picture? How disappointing?! I read other members journal entries describing their latest additions in great detail; toning, pure white, a visual delight, etc. So, all fired up to get a glimpse and congratulate them on their fine taste in coins, only to be let down by the fact there are no images!! Do us all a favor and take the time to leave a lasting impression on the rest of us who don't have the luxury of seeing your 'gems' in person. If you don't own a digital

Teletrade Auction on 4/26/09

Help a brother out Well, my friends, as many of you know and for those of you who don't, this financial meltdown has caused me and my family a tremendous hardship. It is getting difficult to pay the mortgage and some bills are going unpaid. I held on as long as possible but the time has come. Almost all of my collection is being auctioned off on 4/26/09. If you need ANY modern commemoratives silver or gold, they'll be there this weekend. Additionally, literally 650 of the coins you see at

Filling in those sets...

3 more Jefferson proofs and 2 Mercury proofs to go... I have been hunting down coins for my proof sets of Jefferson's and Mercury's. I just added three to the Jefferson proofs and finially found a 1968-s PR69DCAM on E-bay. I have been hunting for that coin, since forever! There are only 153 of them and today there were two for sale after months of nothing, anywhere, when it rains it pours I guess. I have only three more Jefferson's to find, 1940 rev of 38, 1939 rev of 38 and 1939 rev of 40

US Mint ships very old order..

1/10th oz PF eagles ! I bought 2 of these 1/10th proof eagles.. well they are on their way to me !! Finally it looks like the mint is clearing out the backorders and catching up. Now I just want my Lincoln stuff basically ! I think some should give them a break, they must have had a big task over the last 3 months.. I for one have already reaped a reward for the changes they have made in shipping, as will other international customers of the US Mint

Its been awhile since my last entry

A nice upgrade to my Peace dollar Collection. A great addition to my Mercury's and more MS 70 commems Dear Journal: It has been been quite sometime since my last confession. I have manage to make a nice up grade in my Peace dollar collection, I have Replaced the AU55 1921 with a MS62. I have added a stunning 1941 MS67FB to my Mercury short set it is a twin of the MS67FB 1941s WHAT a PAIR. I have continued to pick up MS70 commems at bargain prices (sorry sellers) your economic woes are my gain.
