ONLY NGC

THE FIGHT GOES ON! Hello, I just read Bully's article and totally agree. I joined this organization because they accepted both NGC and PCGS coins. I think that this World Coin deal is just a first step. If that is the case, I, and I am sure, many others of us are gone. I certainly hope so. The NGC biggies need to take a step back and be very happy with what they have. Gilmore

THE NEW "S" MINT ASE

SO WHAT ELSE IS NEW? Just how many wooden indains can you sell? This whole business must be generated by the grading companines. To put a slot in the collections for a coin that is no different than another one has only one purpose and that is to generate revenue. This is really becoming a sorry organization. I would certainly hope that management would do something to up their moral standards. gtg To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

REGISTRY POINTS

WHERE DO YOU STAND TODAY? Hello, Does anyone know what is going on with Registry points? My ranking dropped 11 places today and the total points of one of my Jefferson sets went down by thousands. It would be nice if NGC would at least make an announcement about the events. The Lincolns went up and down and now the Jeffersons are doing the same. Someone must be having fun. Please let me know. gtg

POINTS

WHO IS GOD Who is God? I just became aware of the downgrade of the point evaluation of the Liberty Walking Halves. Just who in hell is in charge of this type of overhall. We have Roosevelt dimes rated at about 10 times the point value of Jefferson's and on and on. Doesn't the membership have anything to say about this? I lost over 4 thousand of your precious points for this "correction" and no one consulted me. Who is God? respectively, but not happy, GILMORE To see old comments for t

NO ONE IS EVER HAPPY!!

LIFE GOES ON. Hello, I very seldom have anything to offer, but, I feel we have had enough about how to change the journal and the registry. Why can't we enjoy what we have and talk about coins, not politics. I love to hear about someone's great buy or some informative info about whatever. All this other chatter needs to go elsewhere. Enjoy the Collector's Society! Life goes on.

A LONG SEARCH

STILL LOOKING. Hello, I am an avid and long time journal reader. I am well aware that this is not an auction forem, but, I am not allowed in the chat rooms because I use a free ISP (Yahoo). What kind of an insult is that? Anyway, I have been looking for a PCGS 1944 MS67FB for about 2 years. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Gilmore

COIN SALES

I AGREE W.K.F. Has stated that this forum is not the place for coins sales. I totally agree. There are numerous other venues for that. I, personally have a number of coins to sell, but, not here. If you can't talk about how many coins you submitted or what grade you got, you need to go to another forum or somewhere else. Many of the articles are very good. Pleas keep up the good side. gtg

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

GRADING WOES!!! I recently got several coins back from NGC grading and immediately returned the coin shown below for a cameo designation. It was returned back to me unchanged. How much cameo effect does a coin need? Is there any recourse to this type of treatment? Any help would be appreciated.

BREAKING OUT, PART FOUR?

MORE ON NNC Before I knew better, I also bought a number of NNC slabbed coins for Centles on E-bay. They were all Indian and Lincoln pennies. I, also, figured that they should grade two points lower and broke them out to send to NGC. Almost every one came back "recolored" and were body bagged. Be fore warned about buying anything from that outfit or in that slab. tgilm

PERPLEXED

What to do. I have a very nice 1936-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar. It looks completely original to me and has beautiful mint luster. I sent it to NGC for grading many months ago and it was returned in their famous body bag as having a "Reverse Wheel Mark". I was sending in another group of coins for grading and decided to send it again. This time it comes back as "Improperly cleaned". Is their any way to win in this environment? I will send the coin to PCGS and hope that I can get an hon

2006 MINT SETS

WHEN DID THE U.S. MINT'S UNCIRCULATED COIN SET BECOME A "SMS"? I must be out of touch. All of a sudden the annual mint set coins are being graded with "sms" designation. What is going on? How does NGC or any other grading service tell what is a business strike from the bank and a coin from a 2006 Mint Set? What about 2005, 2004, etc.? Can someone please fill me in? Thank you.
