Bah humbug!
Hi everyone,
I have just completed the 2011 ASE set. It's amazing how it took 6 coins to get it done. Two of the coins have no mint mark? They just claim to be minted at San Francisco and West Point. Funny how the others have a corresponding mint mark as to where they came from. A few more years of this and I'll go back to sports cards. I guess the economy is booming everywhere else. My pockets are so much more empty now!
I still have the best PF69 set, so I shouldn't complain
Only 2 Unique Coins!
I am a Silver Eagle collector again!
As the disappointment of not getting the set from the mint passes, set changes shown (1 coin per SE set) and grading costs (shipping costs especially) is all calculated, I have decided that buying the 2 unique coins to keep the full Silver Eagle proofs and mint state sets complete (MS69) for about $700 isn't too bad and will have won the final of the 2 (RP) this evening.
Over time I may or may not pick off the individual other 25th

Any help would be appreciated.

Now, are they improperly cleaned?
Attention all hoarders: I have just came into 6 Roman coins. I can't read Latin, and have no time to search out a 'Pope' to read them for me...But my main question is,How can you tell if these were improperly cleaned, or otherwise messed with?
#2 is, Are they real? I looked on line for how to clean a coin and their answers were frigtening. Methinks they are asking you to destroy value, while talking about preserving value. I don't need to clean the co
It's that time of year again.
Good morning, everyone. I just wanted to wish everyone luck in their pursuit of registry set awards. I am hoping to get a presentation award for my Presidential Dollar set. (Hint, Hint, NGC. )
Good luck to all and I can't wait to see the winning sets.
Marcus
Santa will not be bring me any coins before Christmas
As many, I have sent a set of 25th Silver Eagle to NGC for grading. The coins were received by NGC on Dec 5th. I know this to be true because I am friends with the clerk at the Post Office in Sarasota Fl who handles the mail for NGC. From what I gathered is there was a massive amount of items sent to NGC in the last 10 days. Much more than the daily volume that NGC gets on an average week. So I call NGC and a nice lady tells me about how
Marco......
Hello all, this is my first time sending coins to NGC for grading. I purchased 5 sets of the 25th Anniversary Sets from the U.S. Mint.
I sent my coins registered mail on November 29th, with a expected date of December 1st. Unfortunately, the package didn't get down there till December 3rd. (Thanks US Postal Service)
I called the receiving department on Tuesday of this week to inquire about my coins. They told me that they were still opening packages from the end of Novem
dont tell me this was a mistake as it has been long overdue
What a pleasant surprise it was to come here today and see that my Kennedy collection had an adjustment on the points. Seems like most of the Kennedy years had an upward adjustment, have to check further. I gained over 8800 points today just on my Kennedy collection. Next stop, 70,000 points. Getting ready to add the SAE 25th Anniversary set. Should arrive within the next few days from grading. That should maybe put me really cl
Isn't every coin really an Early Release no matter the Label? How can you Really Tell?
With only 100,000 25th Anniversary Silver Eagle Sets from the U.S. Mint and all sold the same day, doesn't this really mean they are all early release despite the label or date? That said at least several of these coins could have been minted much earlier and just added to this set by the mint. They may be "Early Release" for this set, but they could have been minted long ago.
So what's the difference betw
Never know what to expect!
This was my first time submitting coins and i didnt know what to expect.I sent in five sets and they all graded 69 or 70.I was pleased that i didnt recieve any 68 grades. The coins were issued by the mint and the quality is the mints responsibility.Thank you NGC.I am pleased with the grading and entire process

In it for the money?
I was just looking in my daily email listing quarantined emails. One of those listed was from Teletrade, regarding their 25th anniversary auction. So I had it delivered and checked out some items in the upcoming auction.
For no apparent reason, I was drawn to look at an 1892 Barber dime, NGC graded MS67 with CAC sticker. I suppose I'm thinking of it as a candidate for my type collection, although I have my almost-available dollars targeted on a half dime in the Heritage
"AND IT WENT"
On Dec 26 my ASE set had came , and it went out on the Dec 26, to NGC to be graded, hopeing that NGC receive's it by Dce 8, os it well receive a ER on it, but so far it has not been posted by the usps sa being received be NGC, "O" well, ER down the drin , but may be not, i well see friday. well Happy Collecting, Don.
Was fun this year...
I started out in April of this year hoping to get a complete set of Eisenhower Dollars for the Registry. Although I fell one coin short of my goal, I never imagined I would end up with the number 5 set. Other than the 1972 TYPE 2, I have decided to try and assemble a set of the highest grade for the rest of the series. I don't know if I will ever make it to #1, but that should put me at the highest set for NGC coins only. I don't have anything against PCGS, I guess it's ki
Missed Early Release ASE
Well here it is December 8, 2011 and my 25th Anniversary Set didn't make it to NGC on time. Post office shows that it was delivered Saturday the 3rd but it hasn't been 'received' yet. Oh well, at least I was lucky enough to get a set!
Dealers/brokers?
I suppose I am the only guy in the universe who doesn't know the answere to this. Did the Mint produce extra coins for the brokers, dealers/mints who are big internet sellers? Buy this I mean besides the 100,000 for sale to the public. Could they have gotten rolls upon rolls of these coins just for the purpose of a tremendous price cascade?
Its seems that everyone said get a set if you can cuz there won't be any left. Just look at Ebay and the on-line folks how many ther
Did I get my coins? Are did the Coin Vault get them?
Mailed my five set in November the 16th, arrived at post office box for NGC Nov the 18th,still haven't got them back and its Dec the 8th, also my grading stinks four 69s and one 70 on the reverse proof. I think this is my last trip
The results of my 25th Anniversary SAE submissions are in, and I am nowhere near Kamakazy's royal flush.
My 25th Anniversary SAE grades are in, and it is a full house, with the three mint-state coins grading MS-69 and the proofs grading PF-70. While I am a little disappointed with the overall results, I am ecstatic that the reverse proof is PF-70! Of the five coins in this set, the reverse proof is my favorite coin. The mirrored devices and frosty fields make for an extraordinarily beautiful c
Closing in on the end of the year
1. Achieve 30,000 points.
(28,373. I have three coins in the mail and a couple more to order in a week or so, but it los like I will fall a little short on this one)
2. Finish my Kennedy Proof set.
(This one will go down to the wire. Once I get these three coins in the mail, I will be short 3 coins. Two of them are a bit pricey, but it's time to bite the bullet. The last, I was not able to find on Ebay the last time I looked. That may keep me from
Way past my conservative estimate...
A couple posts ago I wrote about a common variety 1848 large cent, NGC graded MS67BN, to be auctioned tomorrow (12/8/2011). I wrote that I expected the final bid to reach at least $3000 (plus juice). Given that MS66BN examples, like mine, can be had for under $2000, that was a conservative estimate, and I was thinking the total cost might reach about $5000. I had put in an early bid of $1500 to keep it in the My Bids list. If I had the money, I would have
A 2012 S Mint Marked ASE!
I believe the Mint was doing market research for the viability of another yearly Silver Eagle issue.
I predict that the US Mint will issue a Business Strike (non-Proof) Silver Eagle with an S mint mark. Probably on burnished planchets much like the W Collectors Silver Eagle.
You heard it here first if it happens, and is only MHO.
Pictured is my MS62 $1 from 1856.
The Sample Kind.
Cemonice's posting about different generations of NGC slab styles is a great dovetail to an article that PCGS's Alan Canavan wrote titled "What You Need to Know About PCGS Sample Slabs". As a longtime owner of a PCGS sample slab, I have always wondered if their was any enhanced collecting interest over and above the value of the common date silver Roosevelt encased within the slab.
Alan's article basically says that this is the time to seek out these sample slabs as there is
id like to educate myself a little
i would like to start researching info on the different NGC generations in slabs...
i am quite fascinated with the black slabs especially.
note to self: maybe try to keep my eyes open for exhisting black slabs...possible purchase?
Do the cert numbers run sequentially in order of coins graded throughout history?
possible book exhist? articles?
is there anyone out there who is educated in this that would like to teach? im always here!
thanks
