Numismedia has the 1951 Proof set valued at $720 currently.

So $409 is not off for a real auction price. It may go even higher.

This put together proof set of normal proofs, some might even be altered or it may be the case, has 9 bids and run up to $409. What in the heck am I missing? Is there something special here I don’t know about? The description literally just says “1951 proof set uncertified in capital case”. I don’t even see a cameo in the bunch.

SO SAD, to announce this: after many years of coin collecting.... I am posting this with a heavy heart. I love coin collecting and everything that comes with it... but I am officially done in #2022! This is taking up too much of my time. I’m struggling to keep up with the everyday chores of cooking, cleaning and maintaining the home, so something must give. I have decided to get rid of all my gear and supplies. Below is a list of what's available. Serious inquiries only, and please don't insult me with low offers. Thanks for reading and understanding... 1. Vacuum cleaner 2. Dustpan and broom 3. Mop and bucket 4. Pots and pans 5. Toilet bowl brush and cleaner 6. Laundry detergent 7. Iron 8. Work clothes 9. Lunch bag 10. Winter jacket and boots Any serious offer will be considered. Every little bit helps for more time to coin hunt.

If we had a research paper to write up we had to use encyclopedias. Then wasnt aloud to plagerise it. Had to figure out how to write it in our own words.
Also is we didnt like something one said about the other we would just knock it out and then go back to being friends again. We didnt run and cry with hurt feelings and make threats of calling someone with authority. Most of the time we all got along though.

Cut him some slack. You missed that he got this at medieval times. Clearly he enjoys some fantasy from time to time.

Do you have any idea how expensive they are? And the penalty for canceling the contract is truly criminal. On top of that the last one I had subbed out the work to a cleaning lady anyway. I’ve about figured out it’s cheaper, and a heck of a lot less headache, to just burn the house down when it gets too dirty and build a new one versus getting help on match or e harmony 😂

Thanks @Woods020 - interesting example and helps nudge me in the direction that indeed the portrait is of Alexander.  But it also adds to the mystery because in the gold version, the deified head of Alexander is mated to an athena on the back, with words BASILEWS LUSIMAXOU.  Those examples is what I found in silver as well, but not in the two sides like mine (where it's Zeus instead of Athena and with Alexander as the name).  Thanks for looking this up, knowing it's Alexander will hopefully narrow down my research.

A coin that very well may (or may not) be an impaired proof (looks like one to me from the later pictures) cannot achieve a consolation prize of proofLIKE. If it’s not a proof, if it has damage, it cannot be PL. If it IS a damaged /impaired proof, it could EITHER receive a PF with a number lower than 60, but more likely slabbed as details. Details WITH PL isn’t a possibility. Ain’t no such animal. The coin is worth bullion. Period.

No need to take it out on everyone else here because you got burned. That was no ones fault but your own. My advice would be, if your gonna pay that much money for a coin look it over really good first. If it looks like someone took a wire brush to it dont buy it unless your buying it for melt prices or its a very rare date.

This is a ridiculous and rash decision. There are people available to help you with things like keeping up with the everyday chores of cooking, cleaning, and maintaining the home. You can find them on Match and eHarmony. Good luck!
