Greenstang got a reaction from Hoghead515 in 1982 D Aluminum? Lincoln penny
If it was aluminum, you could tell by feeling the weight. An aluminum  cent weighs about .9 g, a copper would be 3.11g.
Also there have been many high school experimental coins posted on here. It was quit common in the 50’s to coat them with mercury or nickel.

That is known as “ Progressive Indirect Die Transfer” aka ghosting.
It is a form of Die Deterioration.

Picture of coin is OK, background is not. It is the coin we are interested in seeing, not fingers.
Take a picture on a neutral background and crop to edge of coin.

If I happen to have one of the 1999 state quarter that was struck on a golden planchette where on earth would I take it to get it certified I live near Tacoma Wa I will probably just keep it with the rest of my worthless coins, just asking in case it’s worth anything

It wouldn’t be Die Deterioration. Looks like Mechanical Doubling.

The same answer as your other post on the same coin, it is NOT a 1982 D.
What you see is just a contact mark. Your trying to create something that is not there.

    Welcome to the Forum
You are correct in stating everything is PMD, there is nothing there that could happen when the coin was struck.
Also in the future, please start a new thread for your coins. It gets confusing when there are too many coins posted at once.

Not an error, PMD. The lack of rims and flatness of Washington’s head indicates that it was ground or buffed down.
    Still worth 25 cents though.

First of all that would be nearly impossible. Also a 1943 steel planchet would only weigh 2.7g.

Just damage. The 0 has taken a hit flattening it and the chin is also just damage.

Greenstang got a reaction from RonnieR131 in 1950 5 cent Canadian Die Clash
The coin you show would be from a coin struck shortly after the clash.  I believe the OP's coin was struck after the die was polished and just shows remnants of the original clash. Guess the only way to tell for sure would be to do an overlay which I can' do.
Also I took that photo from my file. I have a file of a couple of hundred photos that I have created over the years for my own use. If there is another Canadian coin you would like to see, I may have a photo of it.
