coins will be late for the registry deadline
Well it seems as if my impatience has turned to resignation. I finally got around to making a submission to NGC on Nov. 6th...and my coins were received on the 10th....The current turnaround for World Coins in my tier is listed at 10 days so I figured I'd have plenty of time to get them back, take photos and add them to my listings before the Dec. 10th, year-end cut off. Well Monday will be December 1st and my coins are still stuck at "Scheduled For
Giving Thanks
I think this is one holiday that is overlooked by us all in someway or another. As I look back on the year I can see I have alot to be giving thanks for . My family and our health, most of all.
Just would like to wish all of my friends in the coin society a happy thanksgiving. And hope all of yours is happy and healthy as well.
Now go and Eat too much.
Happy Collecting.
I've just found out that the series will NOT continue!
I am kinda bummed.
No more issues of fractional gold buffalos, American Eagle Platinums and American Gold Eagles.
Although I was ready for the Eagle series to end, I was surprised to hear that the same fate befalls the Gold Buffalo too. I have one of each, Uncirculated (I will be ordering the 1 oz Uncirculated Buffalo later in the week).
I understand the 1 oz versions of everyting will continue to be issued.
Maybe the ones I bough
Set complete if this grades at NGC
Bought myself a present for Saturday. My type set now complete. Australia's Sovereigns, 9 coins. 7 are in Choice, one easy upgrade to give me something to upgrade later. Only the 1855 is too hard to get in that grade.
Our first sovereign, 1855
Sorry for the bad image JPEG quality, would rather keep a decent sized image should grade XF
Not that I'll get anything on it, but it's nice to dream...
Dear Santa:
I've been a good boy this year, except for maybe blowing my coin budget for the year back in April or so, but hey, once I blew it, I did stay disciplined.
That said, here's what I'd like for Christmas:
1) A gold coin, since I have none in my collection. Any coin would do, although I'd prefer a Double Eagle since my eyes are getting bad, and it's hard to see anything smaller than a Quarter Eagle. Think of it as a Larg
LOOKS LIKE SAINT-GAUDENS HAS WINGS
I Was Just adding some photos to my Registry, and check this photo out ? it looks like Saint-Gaudens has Wings. it almost looks like the back of the 2008 Platinum coin, or is my eyes playing games on me? they tolled me that this would start happening once you hit the big > 50 < am not sure I want to know what go`s next. :-) Thanks for looking ABZPEST
Nothing to buy
I went to my local fall coin show here in Louisiana with the anticipation to buy some more roosevelts to send in.I was looking for full bands as usual. The show draws over 80 dealers from Texas to Florida. This show only comes twice a year.I spent over 8 hours and I could not find any great full band roosevelt dimes.Clad coins are the worst. The few silver roosevelt I found had a lot of nicks. It wouldnt grade higher than a 64ft.I might have to go to a show in a different state. My e
Don't let your safe deposit box lock away your coins!
After reading some journal entries about the pain involved in taking a collection back and forth between home and the bank just to get a glimpse of our 'prides and joys'. I think I've come up with a partial solution...get a digital picture frame. You won't be able to oogle over your coins while holding them but being able to see what's in the vault should increase the enjoyment of your collection and allow you to share with friends and fam
The worst week in 4 years of college...
Well my friends, this week has been truely painful. I've been working on a term paper in Process Safety Systems and projects in Process Dynamics and Plant Economics. I had a test on Friday that I didn't have time to study for (care to guess what that grade will look like?) and I have another one on Monday. Tuesday is an oral exam and my last lab report is due. Everyone in all my classes agrees, this is the worst week in 4 years.
It's so strange that th
1998 Coin 1999 Listing

I have Emailed AMY at Collectors Society (NGC), if anyome can get it corrected she can. Neverman you live in a lovely state (Utah)to bad the train (AMTRAK) only passes thru at nite. Did you know "they" have the last set available? So hurry call now!
My husband and I just laugh at some of the "ToP" cable coin shows on TV. Gone is the unique history that Mr. Chambers added to all of the coin, during the Coin Shoppe. Now he has to stand by a "used care salesman."
How long can these guys drag out the sale of a particular item? "Hands:
on CSN can't talk without his hand gong a mile a minute. The quarters that he sells, get the longest on air award.

No, not another silly coin title!!
Greetings!!
It is an extremely windy day here in Salt Lake City as I write this entry. And it is a day when I have found my procrastination has been my friend as the leaves I piled in the yard with the intent of "picking up and bagging in a day or two" have all blown away.
My mind tells me that they all blew in the city street and that the neighbors will not have to deal with them, but I know this is not the case. I don't really like my neighbors an
Pretty happy today.
Finally got that refund on a Jackson's Liberty. Paid 620 US plus shipping which was little over 700 AUD
Refunded amount shows as $990.80 ! I am shocked, and very happy
Now fingers crossed the AUD comes back by the time Van Buren's Liberty comes out..
never been known for my patience
I'm going away for a 4/3 day weekend today. For me this always involves more than just packing clothes. I always have a few slabs and raw coins lying around that haven't made it to the bank box yet. This means I must come up with a very clever "stashing place" or take time to pack them up and head to the bank.
This break from the grind comes at a great time. I usually undergo a bit of a bluesy feeling this time of year....grey and cold, no sailing, no fishing
Sent these coins in 2 weeks after the coins in my last journal (part 6) and they come back 2 days after them.
1.- 1950 Ire.1 penny NNC-MS64 RB came back a NGC-MS62 BN, I'll take that as I was thinking it could come back in a body bag. It looked like there was a film of oil on it. 2. - 1948 Ire. 3 pence ANACS-62 came back as a NGC- AU58, Ouch, that hurt. The 3 pence is the hardest coin to grade due to its small size and fine detail but I think they got this wrong. I was th
Three tokens that have come out of the closet and switched teams.
Just a short note about the new insert that NGC uses. I don't like it. It's great to see the rim but it seems to take something away from viewing the coin itself. Conder token number one was a FTGS-MS63 RD and came back as a NGC-MS63 RB. I'm fine with that as it was only about 90% red. Would have been nice to have a 211 year old red token. The second token was a FTGS-MS64BN Suffolk D&H-1. Came back as a NGC-62BN Suffolk D&a
Nice to see the 70s, I wonder how the 68s will do over time.
Here's how my last submission broke down. I wonder whether all the effort to find the SMS presidential dollars will work out in the long run. I'd sure like to crack the MS-69 barrier on a coin or two. The 68s may end up being some good pieces though. I'm really happy with those.

When is a coupon almost not worth the paper it is printed on? When it comes from Heritage Auctions
Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen,
Let me begin by saying thanks again to the many bidders that participated in the auctions I had with Heritage. I can honestly say it was a very enlightening experience. I hope all of you took time to read my journal entries and have in some way profited from that debacle. I promise this will be my last words on the subject. However, seems those folks at Heri
Just added to my set!!!!!!!!
i just bought a 1991 $5 gold eagle graded MS70 by PCGS. this is a population 3 coin that has been a long time coming. my set contains only PCGS graded coins except for 1 coin and i only need 4 more coins at MS70 to have a set of perfect 70's. the 1991 tops my accomplishnent of the PCGS 1999-W MS70 $5 error coin with a population of 8. the 99-W i bought was the 1st time a coin of this grade by PCGS had been offered for sale or auction to the public. but to have a po

Greetings!
My day usually starts at 5:45 am when the BEEP BEEP BEEP of the rude alarm clock awakens me to a new day.
I then stagger over to my wifes side of the bed where the clock rests on her night stand while tripping over her shoes and her dog. The first success of the day is shutting that damn thing off. I don't hear very well, and my wife can sleep through a tsunami, so we bought the loudest alarm we could find. I hear it, but she still sleeps through it
What does the "W" mean?
I just got a 2000 S Clad Maryland quarter in NGC PF 69 W Ultra Cameo. I have another Maryland in NGC PF 69, but it doesn't have a "W". Is one better than the other? Does the "W" get a higher rating? I am new to all this, but I guess I should kbnow about this? Anyone?
Thanks
1895 IHC Proof PF64RB
This 1895 IHC proof has been graded as PF64RB. It has dark fields on both the obverse and the reverse with light contrasting devices. What do you think my chances would be if I resubmitted? Would it be better to send in raw?
