i have been collecting $5 gold american eagles for several years now and all the coins are PCGS graded. my set ranks 8th in the NGC registry and 4th in the PCGS registry. the coins were minted from 1986 to date. the only coins i need in MS70 to have a complete set of PCGS MS70 graded coins are 1988 to 1993. these are very low pop. coins from 1 to 5 [PCGS]. i have not been able to locate any except those graded by NGC. the NGC pops are much higher than the PCGS pops for MS70. i h

Earlier this year i wrote that the mint would be introducing fractional 24kt gold buffalo coins that will replace the gold american eagle series. well, on 7/22/08 the fractional buffalos went on sale. i think 2009 or 2010 will be the last year of the gold american eagle series. i say this based on the fact that the eagles have been minted for 23 years and historically 25 years is the average mintage for a gold coin series. also, the U.S. needs to mint 24kt gold coins to market a wo
