2008 in Review...part 3

Silver American Eagles...Proof I started collecting these beautiful Eagles in 1999 and have been getting them ever since. My Latest Acquisition!!

Just won this on auction tonight!! Great news!! I just won a 1990 PF 69 UC American Silver Eagle on auction tonight for 27 dollars....about half of Numismedia pricing for the coin. I am very excited to get the coin and to add this to my Proof registry. Also happy that I have won 1st place in my football fantasy league, too. It has been a great night!!!

2008 NGC Registry

Thanks! Just discovered the registry this year and prior to this, coin collecting was getting stale for me. Now I have found it fun again and the competition adds a whole new wrinkle to things! I have met so many other collectors! Thanks NGC for a great thing!

C'MON NOW!

ROTATED DIE ERRORS?

What amount of rotation does it take to qualify? I have a few 2006 Franklin Scientist Commems in mint state. The reverse is not square to the obverse. I would like to know how rotated it has to be to qualify as a mint error? Does anyone have a Franklin with this mint error? I have asked several local dealers and collectors, but no 100% positive answer. The set I have registered has a pretty square obverse in comparison. I attached a scan of the typical rotation. Is it considered an error?

1809 C-4 Lg/Sm 0 NGC AU55 Classic Head Half Cent

VERY RARE HALF CENT This 1809 C-4 Lg/Sm 0 Half Cent just arrived today. Ngc graded it AU-55. NGC has only graded 6 of these with the highest graded being a AU-58. The zero of the date is repunched so that it appears to be a circle within the zero. This hub flaw is sometimes referred to as a die break. Scratches are on the slab and not the coin.

That Old Familiar Chill
