My First #1 Set - Proof Presidential Dollars
Well, I finally got a #1 registry set for proof presidential dollars. I tried to build up the set from my own submissions to NGC, but in the end I had to buy a couple of the '08 coins. Even though I'm only tied for #1 and was the 32nd to achieve a perfect set, I'm still pretty proud. It will be fun to build out this set over the years.
Happy Holidays! I hope Santa brings us some great news coins.
I had to settle for only 9 coins.
I recently decided to add a set of PCGS graded Sacagawea golden dollars to my collection. PCGS has only 9 coins to a set. I am in the process of building a PR69DCAM SET. I only need the 2002 and 2007. Unlike NGC with the "First Year Of Issue", green label, pedigree, this set is easier to complete, and a little cheaper.
Double protection Intercept Shield boxes are perfect for 10 coin Sacagawea sets.
I have finally taken all of my, 10 coin, Sacagawea NGC PF 69 sets and put them into their own Intercept Shield double protection storage boxes. These provide the ultimate protection for the ULTIMATE 10 coin set!
I have added the 2008 "error" Eagle to bring my set up to date
Finally!
I have completed a set of American Silver Eagles in NGC MS69.
I went out of my way to have 3 2008 Eagles, but I guess it was necessary to be complete. I guess the proof set is next. Maybe I can compete this year?
Finally got it
Just in time for the registery awards. All pf 70's.The only one that is expensive is the 2001.Finally got it and now I am moving on to something else??Maybe next year SMS presidents.
2007-
Only 2007 and 2008 previously gone, easy enough because I'm Australian. For once things favour me ! I just ordered 10 of the 2009 from the Perth Mint
If you need a 2009P Koala, let me know. When they come back I'll offer some for sale
I have a Morgan ! kinda...
I really like some of these. The 2006-S gold reverse is stunning and will grab that next.. and the silver WOW I love this one as much as the current Bald Eagle dollar. What a great tribute to the Morgan reverse.
I'm too scared to look at some of the rarer issues. Will there be original boxed ones out there I can buy ? lets hope, some have single figure slabbed 70 !
So far I have these in PF 70 Ultra Cameo

What can I say...I guess I bought myself a Christmas present.
I was in the process of negoiating on this coin and sent in four coins as a downpayment to hold the coin for thirty days so I could pay for it after the first of the year when I can dip into my IRA again. Lo and behold, the postman brings me a package (he didn't have to ring twice) and there it was, an 1893-S in VF30 (PCGS) with some very nice toning. What a surprise! Needless to say this coin has been on my wishlist for about fi
and the coin if the month for December is...
an 1831 dime. It is graded MS-62 by NGC. It has a moderately deep golden gray toning. The fields are somewhat prooflike. A nice crusty old bust dime.
I am too tough on myself
One of my main goals this year was to rank at a minimum of 150.Last year I was #200. I am 156 now and I am 6682 points away from 150.I have 6 days to find a few more coins.2 coins are going to be won at heritage(Hopefully).Scoring a little more than 1000 points each.So now I need 4682 points(give or take a few more points.Funds are a little tight, but I can't let that interfere with my goal.I am expecting a 2008 sac pf70 ultra cameo any day now.A little more than 400 po
TWO NGC PR70 Ultra Cameo
Two NGC MS70Since my submission has just arrive and I had commems on my mind while checking out the coin auctions earlier this week. I placed a bid on four of them 2008p Bald Eagle MS70, a 2007p Little RockNGC PR70, a 2002w West Point NGC PR70 and last a 1991p MT Rushmore NGC MS70. I told my self, Self put a $50 bid on each one and maybe you will win one maybe two. Well I didn't win two I won all four. Now I don't really like to say how much I spend but in this case I w
Let us not forget some things....
To be a collector is the grandest thing one can be.
The collection you posess is uniquely yours, nobody else can have it ever. Not even if you sell it, give it away, or bequeath it to your nearest relative.
The reason for this is because it was you, and you alone who set out to build and posess the collection you have. The challenges, excitement, butterflies in the stomach, regrets that maybe you spent too much, the sack lunches instead of eating out for
but I'm getting old and my memory is not what it was
An exciting day in the hobby for me. The grades of my coins submission were posted and they are on their way home !! It always feels like they are brand new purchases to me when they arrive back. They never quite feel like part of my set/collection when they are still raw and sitting in my coin cabinet drawer--waiting for encapsulation. Not that I'm knocking raw coin collectors, I am usually always casually working on some album/series of ra
New Guy On The Block
First time to this territory. Building a set for grand-daughter to enjoy in the future. She is 21 months now, so I am really enjoying it NOW!!!
USED THE MONEY TO BUY A 1929 STANDING LIBERTY QUARTER NGC MS64-NOT FH. AND HAD A LOT OF MONEY LEFT OVER.
Nothing wrong in going for the Full Head. But something wrong when people buy a Full Head and pay five times what a beautiful quarter like this cost, just to get FH on the label.
The bad economy has struck home
The month of November started out like any nightmare would. My wife went to work on a Tuesday morning, thinking everything was fine, only to be laded off with everyone else that worked at that location. The doors were locked on their way out, never to be opened again.
It is hard to believe that we had become so dependant on her weekly income just to enjoy the finer things in life, but we did. She has been trying to find new employment for four weeks now, but n

Dear Journal; Have you missed me, I think this past month is the first month since joining that I didn't write an entry. I have been pretty busy even if work has been slow lately. My Christmas Sales have gone though the roof(hope this continues). I just received a submission back from NGC. My $5 Gold buffalo got a MS70 and the 5 Silver commems were all MS or PR 69's. Picked up the MVB presidential dollars in MS66 a 1941d mercury Di

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend! We had some family over for dinner and on Friday my brother and I took the ATVs out for a ride. The picture I enclosed is from Sardine Peak fire lookout station. It sits about 8100' in the Sierra Nevada Range...what I call my backyard!! The US Forest Service is going to rehab the old lookout and rent to campers. I am going have try it out one weekend when it's finished. Then on Saturday and Sunday...all the Christmas decorat
Everything slows down this time of year
Well journal,I missed my mark this month.I have all my shopping done for my family and friends. There is 1 coin I have my sights set on but it is so close, but far away.I wanted to buy it this month, but sales have been a little slow.I told the seller that I want it and I am saving up,but I am still short. It costs a lot to sell on advertisements on yahoo. As in my last month journal,I stil have 2 coins, scratch that,3 coins I want this month. Not including th
... (almost) an ounce.
Just for fun I've been putting what money I could towards adding some gold coins to go with my silver. I have about 60 ounces of silver and until October I only had 1/4 of an ounce of gold. This is of course because of the expense of the gold but the gold is so pretty and nice... so I decided that I just had to get some more of it.
Well, I got myself the Constitution commem for my birthday initially thinking that that would be my gold purchase for the year, right? Then
now it would be really appreciated if you would add me to your friend's list
Because I am a new -be here but not for long and that one of my goals is to make contacts with anyone who is able to help me or whom I maybe able to help them get some thing that they want.. i believe in a motto by one of my mentor's its simple 'give" something and you will get back even more ..
so please if you are reading this then write me out a short note which may not say anything but "hi" or it may be som
Hi I am new to this forum so please forgive me if its not what you want to here.
I've always collected something.. when I was a young boy I got hooked on Comic books which is why I am on here now stamps, & coins, I remember a a young boy going to the bank and exchanging rolls of pennies , dines , quarters , etc for ones that I would search through to complete my collection and also sending out for every first day cover stamp when it came out... but comic books were my passion.. and so tha
Here's hoping for a good end of the year!!
Greetings!!
Well, Thanksgiving 2008 is done, the dishes have mostly been washed and put away til next year. The Irish whiskey bottle is half full, and the beer bottles need to be taken to the recycle still...but it has all but ended and a great T-day it was this year.
The food and company was outstanding, hard to believe I almost cancelled the feast this year.
Christmas is upcoming now, and I reflect on the year and my goals in my collecting
