Opinions Please!
I need to know opinions as to whether this coin is Proof or MS as graded before I send it back for mechanical error. I have asked several coin dealers here in Washington State that seem to think it is an MS. However, there are others including a member of this society who need not respond or be named that believe it to be a proof. Honestly, I've had my doubts as the obverse looks proofish but the reverse looks MSish, especially in the sun. I do not want to waste my money or ti
A pair of medals to remember the attack on Pearl Harbor...
I picked both of these medals from an auction site dealing with WWII memorabilia. I was amazed that I actually found these medals at a non-numismatic auction. Listed as 2M-380 (copper, mintage 10,000) and 2M-381 (nickel, mintage 5,000) in Hawaiian Money, 2nd edition by Medcalf and Russell. The holed nickel medal is a filler at the moment. It's interesting that a Japanese Zero is the main design feature.
The medals are also listed in
Happy Memorial Day
Howdy Friends and Veterans,
Wanted to take the opportunity to extend my thanks to all the Veterans here at the Collector's Society for your service and I wish you all have a safe and wonderful holiday with your families and friends.
In 1967 my Mother remarried to a Marine stationed in Kaneohe and within a year he was serving in Vietnam for the first of two tours and when he returned to us after the second, he was a totally different person. It took many years for me
My first consignment with Great Collections is a success despite the recent fall in the gold market that depressed my bottom line.
About a year ago, I decided to discontinue collecting First Spouse gold coins and liquidate my collection. Three weeks ago on consignment through Great Collections, I sold four First Spouse coins. With those four coins were six other coins; they were an 1881-CC PCGS rattler Morgan Dollar, three Eisenhower dollars, and a common date Roosevelt Dime and Washington Qua
and a hearty Thank You to all veterans today!
If memory serves me, Hunter's Gold is not only a veteran, but a disabled vet. Thanks for your service to our country and I personally thank God that you were able to return to our shores.
Thanks to all the veterans that are a part of this society, without your sacrifice this great forum and our freedom wouldn't be possible.
Lastly, fond remembrance of so many that have given their lives to protect what we should hold most dear - Freedom and the

BU, Butt Ugly that is....
I love to peruse mint sets for top pop beauties and almost every year from 68-2004 has some winners and some losers. However, the 1991 sets take the cake for absolute horrible coins - what happened in 1991, die the quality assurance department get reassigned, take say the year off for vacation, was it the 30 year bubble of retirees leaving the Mint?
Most all of the coins from 1991 I look at are just plain awful. I mentioned in my last post an MS 50 Kennedy, see the

How tough is an NGC Slab?
Did you ever wonder just how tough an NGC Slab is? I found out the hard way - my 2 month old Border Collie found a couple of excellent chew toys.
I am glad she decided to go after a couple of the inexpensive varieties. I suppose now the Morgan will be a crack-out whereas poor Mr. Lincoln will never recover.
All in all I'm impressed with the toughness of an NGC slab!! They survived a decent chewing and an overnight stay in the back yard. I'd say pretty damn tough!
Fast response time from NGC
Hi everyone. As a lot of you have noticed over the last few days there have been several registry score adjustments for a lot of different collectors and for many different types of coins. I submitted a few score correction request myself yesterday and was very surprised and please for the score adjustment for my 2001D MS69RD Lincoln Memorial which currently is a population 1 coin. This coin went from a registry score of 288 to 820 points for a total gain of 532

Nice surprise today
Came to the CS today and noticed I gain over 1600 points. Upon further checking, NGC adjusted the points on the SMS Kennedy's today, and it was overdue for this adjustment.
Wait a couple more weeks.
Friends and Society,
I have looked into my Chrystal Ball lately. The one thing that came out strong was the rise in the value of SILVER and GOLD of course. It is not far off. Only two weeks so it won't hurt you to wait and hold onto your scrap precious metals if you were thinking of selling.
You heard it from me.
LATER----
A FEW MORE PICS
