State Quarter set is now COMPLETE!!

What a search it took in rolls!! Friends, I finally got my grades returned today and added the best in the submission to my set. I was low on around 27 grades and needed around 12 holes filled. With a search of around 180 rolls I managed to pull off a full set before the end of the year. My best grades --- MS68's were 2001-P Vermont, 2002-P Louisiana, 2005-D California, and 2008-P Arizona. There always seems to be a few sweets in each submission. Hoping that you end your years quest as w

SILVER Eagles and Canadian Maples

Did you guys and gals get your 2015 and 2016 coins? Friends, As I snoop around looking to see where the next Silver crunch will show itself I found something interesting. Since JP Morgan Chase Bank has found a loophole in selling silver it has been purchasing Silver like CRAZY after all charges were dropped from the scam. Here is the scam -- http://www.huffingtonpost.com/tom-pappalardo/gold-silver-trading-bigge_b_706594.html Since all charges were dropped they are keeping a clear boo

So many different sets and which direction to go!!! Friends, I have ran through all the sets over and over again. I truly enjoy the dimes I have so those are no brainers as to keeping. I have had a swell time in the nickels since the stock market crashed. That leaves me with the Lincoln coins that I have acquired over the past 10 years. I'm not so sure that I want to keep those sets so I am really thinking ---- Heritage auctions for the Lincoln's. I could always add to the Jefferson's and

Silver and Gold

Have you been watching the hikes lately Friends; Last week there was a good offer in chat boards on SILVER!! I put a bid in on Saturday morning at $205 for 13+ oz. that Jackson had for sale bid. I won it at $198. Yes my weekend went very well. Now keeping an eye on Silver I watch the value climb daily. Paying a little over $15 oz. last Saturday and now worth $20+ an oz. this week is a great sign. I am going to hold out for $40 and sell all I have stashed up ---- Rick To see old

Completely Modern

Out with the "old" and in with the "NEW" Friends, I have added so many different coins the past few years. I can tell that my interest in collecting has turned a page. I changed a few set names to add For Sale in the set listings. I have decided to rid of all coins dated pre 1965 (wheats and silvers). The sets that are starting to grow with each new addition lately have been the true moderns of today. With that being said I no longer add to wheats, silver dimes, silver quarters, or silve

Good day to add a few pics.

A few clouds and some free time. Friends, As I have gotten my Lincolns to a good set standard I decided it was time to do some pics. Trial and error ended up with some rough lookers and some great ones. I will redo some later on in a month or 2, or 3?? Here is a shot of my 1957 -- pf68rd -- enjoy To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

Switch by me not NGC!!

We all hate altercation of a well running site and then we do it to ourselves!! Friends. Well as much as I hate it when NGC upgrades to better running material I have done the same as well. I uploaded windows 10 and now have to redo EVERYTHING to get things rolling right once more. Hope all is worth the aggravation!!! Want to load a pick to see where it takes me in my pictures. Not too bad of a switch compared to the earlier trials I had to deal with. Enjoy!! To see old comment

For the LOVE of Lincoln's

I spent the whole WAD!! Friends, Well as you read in a earlier journal this week by Hunter's Gold -- he sold his set. I saw the hint left in a message by Doug -- dadams -- on who purchased and was selling off his coins. There was no time to even get ready as the first sale was tonight. I started with the first Lincoln and then went with others that I had selected till I ran out of CASH!! New Purchases; 1990 MS68rd 1984-D MS68rd 1960-D Large date MS67rd 1970-D MS67rd 1987-D MS

Back in the hunt!!

Added pics to my sets on page 4 in my registry this week Friends, For a few years now I have slowly been adding to my 1999 to date proof sets. A few weeks ago as I was grabbing a few more NGC PF70UC's for my 1979 and 80's sets I decided to start adding pics to my 1999 to date proof sets. Finally today I have all but 1 coin pic in all those sets. Many went to rank #1 with the pics added and sure make it look like a swell accomplishment. I have a few more coins on the way and now will be ventu

CONGRATS DUE

To an old friend long gone. Friends, As time passes some sets get broken up and spread to other sets. Recently Paul Kiraly started selling his dimes off. My good pal Todd had collected hard on his dimes till the day he passed away 2 years ago from cancer. He knew then that a rank #1 set in dimes was out of reach which at the time was passed from Jason Colinger to Paul Kiraly. I checked TPETERS dime sets this morning and found not only 1 but 4 rank #1 Roosy sets. I'm sure he is smiling

Back in the Picture additions

Nothing worse than not seeing exactly what I have. Friends, Around 6 months ago my computer crashed and shut down. I have since been useing a small lap top till I could afford a new tower. Coin additions came in every month till December keeping the extra cash too low to afford anything else. Finally----A new tower yesterday. Charged the battery in the camera and hooked all the needed hardware up to get pics rolling once more. I still need a good picture shop program to make the great lo

SLOW!!!

Coins are not moving like the winter months!! Friends, I have sold a few coins on my "Six Mile Rick" page and purchased many!! The new additions kinda get my 1940 to date MS and PF sets at around 33% complete. I look at the ordeal as a grand jig saw puzzle!! Don't know what started the fiasco but still driving in the completion direction. Will be happy when I get to the pre 1940's to get some new types!! A penny for your thoughts

Ultra Cameo??? Friends, I was offered a penny that stuck in my head for a while. A 1971 PF69* Cameo. The price was great compared to the high of a UC price but there was no pic to see what was the reason for the star on a Cameo coin. After a week or so I decided to find out just how close this PF69*C coin was to PF69UC and purchased it. Love It!!! Here's a pic Rick To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. My latest purchase

1994-P SP70 Friends, As I added a few pics this was a very tough shot to get. I added this swell SP70 a week ago and was asked for pics when I had them. Was not sure which side ti show off but the reverse is my favorite on the PF Jeffersons as the steps and rails are usually fantastic!! ENJOY!!! To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. Another Great Trade!!

And a changing of this page name!! Friends, I had a great trade with cbc again on a group of NGC graded Walkers. As I pulled the old 1855-O MS62 half to send for the trade I showed my wife. "Get a good look as she's headed out for a trade". My wife just looked at me like I was stupid and said " The 1849 1c is mine and I want it out of the safe --- The rest are yours!!!" O-K --- so I changed the name on the member page and handed her the coin. What else was I to do. Well they are still he

Proofs from the front and Circulated from the rear!! Friends, I know I said I was sending in the 70's for submission to get my mint sets rolling but.... I have been having a fun time catching up a few proof sets as I bid at lower than 50% and they keep winning. I will get around to sending off the 70's circulated but having a great time adding to the 20?? proofs right now. Later---Rick To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. Editing pics

Good for a change in viewing. Friends, As I have put a few sets on the chopping block I was asked for more pics on a favorite of mine. This 1944 MS66 Walker is a stunning piece that CBC won from Bowers and Marina a few years back. I obtained it through a trade from him when I went to visit him a year or so ago. So I spent a while yesterday getting the detail and the tones a little fine tuned to show. I was so pleased with the better shots that the old pics were replaced. I will eventually g

My firstboddy bagged coin in years.

Still got my purple label - HeHe Friends, It has been quite a few years since I got a coin back that was not slabbed.I recently sent in a submission that had a roll end toned coin that looked great. With no scars from the roller I thought it would grade. WRONG!!! To my surprise anyway it came back bagged like the old days. No holder but with the purple tag in a 2X2. Stage #2 of 3 State Quarters

Submission complete Friends, Well my second half of the MS state quarters were final today and shipped. A painful low value and low point set even though there were 12 MS67s of which the 2008D Hawaii was a top pop of 6/0. I had a great time finding and adding these myself and really think they are under valued as far as the points go. But it is what it is. Later this year I will do the SMS section and my fun quest set for this year will be complete. Good luck on your collections this year!!
