  1. You wanted opinions and thats what we gave you. May not be the ones you was hoping to hear. I would rather someone be honest with me rather than get my hopes up. The ones who have commented on the coins deal with coins on a daily basis. Some have careers in numismatics. They have years of experience and knowledge looking at coins and collecting. They know how the minting process works. One in particular has done extensive research and wrote books on the minting process. They know every way a error can occur at the mint. If you dont want to hear what they have to say then why even ask? You have got opinions by some of the most qualified experts in the country. There are literally hundreds of ways coins can be damaged after the mint process. Not just get skinned up by being ran over. There are many chemicals that can damaged coins and give them that wavy effect like the Canada coin has. There are literally hundreds of damaged coins posted on this forum and they come in all sorts of different conditions. These guys on here give honest and to the point facts and opinions on here. They are blunt and to the point. And from the pictures you provided I thought they were very fair opinions. If you really think they are wrong and would like another opinion then you need to figure out how to post better pictures. But most here are qualified enough in the hobby they can tell by the pictures you used that they are damaged. What caused the damage they may not be able to tell you, but they can tell you if it happened during the minting process or not. They are not going to lie and tell you that its a valuable error just to make you feel better. They are not going to sugar coat it neither. They are going to defend the opinion they gave you if you try to second guess them also. Cant really get mad at them for that. The ones who answered your questions are more than qualified to do so.
  2. Be lucky to find a parking lot cent eat up with zinc rot and PVC damage under my kitchen floor. That was a very cool find. Congrats to them!!!! Thats a very interesting story.
  3. Ive got several with different types of counter stamps on them. I found some and had some gave to me. Even though they arent worth a premium I still enjoy saving them. I like collecting ones with free mason stamps on them the most.
  4. Yea. Its a big scratch from a staple or something. It would definately get the dreaded details grade.
  5. Isnt that one of Henning's nickels? Id really like to get one sometime in the future. I was going to buy one while back but when I looked at them they were pretty expensive. Never dreamed a counterfeit would be so collectable.
  6. Those are beauties. Very nice additions.
  7. Im using the NGC registry for a guide to go by. If these wasnt listed in it Id never bought them. In order to complete a set you have to have these two.
  8. I live bout an hr and a half from Louisville. We work there all the time. That pirate chest sounds like a very good idea. That would be alot of fun for the youngins.
  9. Thank you my friends. Even though these are low grade Im very excited to add them to my set. This is a hard set to put together when you have a tight budget to work with. Didnt know what I was getting into.
  10. Your sure finding some beauties and have came a long way on that set. Congrats old friend. Those are some lovely additions.
  11. There are several people that put junk pocket change on the internet and ask thousands for them. Espically on etsy. That dont mean thats what they are worth.
  12. They are both post mint damage. They didnt come from the mint like that.
  13. Thats amazing. I really enjoyed playing when I was young. Then I got to fat. I still enjoy shooting hoops but Im way to out of shape to play a game.
  14. Thats pretty cool hoopster. Did you play in college? I enjoy watching college basketball. Thanks for sharing.
  15. Really breaks my heart this one is scratched. Probably from a staple on a coin flip. Even though it has mushy details, I really like this one. I keep it in a cardboard coin flip. I really like how alot of these buffalo nickels have the streaky toning to them. You can see the large scratch at the top of the reverse. Its sad to see these old coins get damaged. Espically when it can probably be prevented alot of times.
  16. I finally got a couple of the key dates I needed for my Washington set. They are low grade but Im still happy to get them. Maybe one of these days I can upgrade them but it will probably be a while. Lucked out and won the bid on both of them at the same time. The dreaded 1950 D/S and 1950 S/D. These are hard to find at an affordable price even in a lower grade. This is actually the first purchase Ive got to make in a few months.
  17. Cant really tell from the pics but the Canada looks to me like it may have been exposed to some kind of acid. I agree with everyone else that its damage.
  18. I got a few that are worn down like that. I used them in my Whitman album. I may replace them with better ones one of these days but for now they are hole fillers. I always keep my worn silver coins. The ones I dont use in the album I keep in coin flips. Its easier for me to keep up with them. I may sell them for scrap one of these days. If not they will be passed down to my kids and they can do whatever with them.
  19. I can see enough from them to tell they are not worth sending in. They have really good eye appeal and luster but several small contact marks that would prevent them from grading very high. Still very nice coins. Be really nice album coins or nice to put in an airtite holder or something like that.
  20. I think I got a DDO in the cabinet. To bad NGC dosent grade em.
