  1. When I look thru them I put stars or check marks beside the list of ones I want to upgrade eventually. Or find a nicer one in the same grade.
  2. I also keep 2 list. One with the price also. I keep in a fire proof safe in case ever needed for insurance purposes. Then I keep the ones below in a 5 star notebook.
  3. One things for sure tho. You can never get to many CCs. Ive done the same thing as well. Ive got 2 1960 quarters and 2 1955. I also keep a written checklist. I write the cert number, which TPG graded it, and the grade itself. I keep several list of different denominations. Ive got all the dates and mints wrote in order and I write them in as I get them.
  4. Dont be embarrased. It happens. We all are human and make mistakes. I made a few very costly mistakes when I first started. I actually glad I made those mistakes now because they helped me learn some hard lessons. One of the coins I first posted on here had a contamination spot on it. It was a brand new silver eagle I bought from the mint. Well I sent it to NGC to have it certified before asking about it. I was quickly called out on it and it made me feel pretty dumb. I just look at it as a learning lesson. Stick around here and you will learn alot.
  5. Definately the large date. If you ever have anymore you want to send in just ask on here and everyone will be more than happy to help. May save you alot of money.
  6. Those 4 are the killers. Also the 1950 d/s and s/d. For some reason they are the only variaties in the set on NGCs registry. I asked about them one time in the "ask NGC" forum and I was told they felt they were important enough to be included in the set. Thats why I bought those while back in an auction. Got a good deal on both of them. They are heavily circulated but they are very expensive in mint shape.
  7. Ive been working pretty hard on it. Ive got well over half of them. It turned out to be a bigger project than I thought it would be. But Im very happy with myself to have done what I have so far.
  8. Im trying from 32 to 64. All mint state except for key dates. One these days I may try replace the key dates with mint state but no time soon.
  9. Ive been having some trouble myself. Ive had to sign out and then back in a few times past couple of days. @VKurtBis correct. Thats the only way I was able to fix the problem.
  10. Im a person with limited space. My gun safe is all I have for now and it dosent have much storage. I plan on getting another safe for my coins and other valuables and sentimentals. Soon as I do I will be able to get better storage boxes. But I really like these here for now. They are perfect for not taking up much space. Downfall is your slabs touch each other. Those plastic sleeves help that problem though. For now they are great for saving room. They will hold the 4 main TPGs' slabs pretty good. You can easily fit 10 slabs in the short ones and 20 in the long. I been trying to keep my Washingtons in order in them by date.
  11. Kinda looks like a grease spot. When she comes in Ill verify it. Ill come back to this thread and update with a in hand opinion. I like it very much just from the pictures. That light golden toning just does something to me. I love coins like that. Espically if its even toning all the way around. That one is close. Ill be happy with it. Theres a few Im gonna try and replace as soon as I complete the set. A few I got in a hurry on and regretting it now.
  12. Ive been watching this one for a couple weeks on Great Collections. Theres something about it that instantly attracted me to it. I really love that light golden toning. Im very happy to get the winning bid on it tonight. Its gonna look lovely in my set with the others. Getting closer to completing the set but still a ways to go. These are GCs pictures Im using. Honest opinions. Do you all like the looks of this coin? Also do you think the grade of ms66 is accurate? Ive been trying to learn how to grade and just from the pictures thats what I would have guessed it if it had been uncertified. May look different in hand. Im very happy to add this one to the set.
  13. I sure could use that. Id love to have a few million to put into the collection. . May even spend some on the old lady and kids to.
  14. Only time Ive ever seen an XRF machine was on tv. On discovery channel type shows where people would find artifacts and they was trying to figure out their compositions. Im with @VKurtB. If I ever suspected I found one on a different planchet, it would go to NGC. More than likely I wont ever have to worry about it. Id probably have better odds hitting the powerball.
  15. I enjoy shooting old flintlocks. I just hate cleaning them afterwards. I usually run a few patches through the barrel about every fourth shot. Seems to help the accuracy.
  16. Im not gonna go into very many details but If anything ever happens I could probably do pretty good for a while.
  17. Happy Halloween my friend. Those are some spooky Lincolns.
  18. I always use those slab protecter sleves also. They fit really good. I like how they have the adhesive flap on them where you can cover the entire slab.
  19. I almost bought some of those on Ebay. Had them in the cart and then changed my mind. If I ever fill up the ones I got now I may try them next time.
  20. Ive got some Intercept boxes I like really well. Ive got PCGS, NGC, ANACS, and IGC slabs all in the same box and they all fit very well. They are cushioned with some type of fabric that keeps them safe. I think they are a great value. I also have several Guardhouse boxes I keep some of my full sets in. Got some of the 10 and 20 coin boxes. You can fit them neatly in stacks for easy storage. They fit in my safe well. I really like the NGC boxes but they are very expensive. I have 1 of those I keep my buffalo nickels in. They are great to but I really like the Intercept the best. Great box for the value.
  21. No longer time Ive been collecting I knew just as soon as I saw that edge picture it was a common half. I had a pretty good suspicion before he posted it and was first asking about it. But just as soon as I saw that edge picture it pretty much confirmed it. It was just like all the other hundreds Ive searched through. Dont need no fancy machine or test to confirm that one. Also Ive seen enough in this hobby to believe that you just dont find rare coins like that laying around everyday. It seems someone post on here every other day of common coins they find that they think is a rare one in a million find. All this garbage spewed on the internet and you tube makes people think your gonna get some back in change at the dollar store the day after you see their video. Im not saying it couldnt happen but I learned years ago if it seems to good to be true then it is. I just cant believe the lengths people go to try and convince experts in numismatics that they are the ones who are wrong when its very obvious they have nothing but common junk. Then some get offensive because you wont lie and tell them they do. I dont know why people cant just accept reality. Then on top of it all try and sell it on the same forum to the ones telling them its nothing special. WOW.
