  1. Yea that 1950 proof Franklin is a tough one. The 51 and 52 are also but not as expensive as the 50. They are still pretty pricey though.
  2. Its helpful to make your own thread on this coin. It causes confusion for everyone trying to help if its posted in a thread with another coin people are helping with. If its in its own thread everyone will know which coin people are talking about.
  3. Ive been drooling for one of these for a long time. Very nice. Probably my favorite commerative in the program around that time period.
  4. I just made a purchase from the US Mint today and it brings up another type I enjoy collecting. More into the moderns. I just bought the latest Innovation Dollars reverse proof set. So far since the first coin came out in 2018 I have all the proofs and reverse proofs. I like to collect these in the original government packaging. I really liked it when they was releasing the reverse proofs in the single packages. I enjoyed the boxes and the cool facts they had printed inside. The last couple years they came all in one case like the proofs. These are great for people on a budget to collect. Ive bought every one straight from the mint. I hope to keep collecting them as they come out and try to have the whole entire set when they are finished.
  5. Thats the shape of the corrosion. Just gives it that pareidolia look. Sounds like alot of fun. I also enjoy searching for old artifacts. Good luck and happy hunting.
  6. Smithsonian restrike beard tokens. And one good lookin bearded fella.
  7. Ive been thinking real hard on some type of birth year set. I was born in 82 so Ive been thinking about all the varities of the 1982 Lincoln cent. Also the proof. All except the rare one. Id have to sell a kidney or something to get it. That would be a fun birth set to do. Try and get them all in high grades. Ive had many people tell me I should consider doing a birth set. I think I will make an attempt soon.
  8. Looks like its got a little bit of chatter on it. By time you paid the fees, shipping, and insurance you could buy one in a lot higher grade. I bought one in ms67 for cheaper than I could have one graded. That would be a nice one to put in a flip.
  9. Very nice. I really like Mexican coins. I got one of those but its heavily circulated. Those are sharp in mint shape.
  10. From the looks she was into jazz, country, rock , and blues. Theres a few country like Glenn Campbell. Which I like. Id be interested in listening to that. And some Elvis, Sam Cooke, and others. Several Ive never heard of. Some kind of jazz. I like listening to stuff like that once in a while also. Ill probably leave the ones that arent opened in the plastic. It amazed me of how great of shape the covers are in. Records to. Dont look like they been used hardly any.
  11. What mint strikes the super heros and Harry Potters? Like the Marvel characters and things like that? Ive seen them on Ebay that are NGC certified. Ive been wanting to get my son a couple. I think that would be a very interesting catagory for him. He would love those. That was a great idea for trying to hook young collectors. Seems like Ive seen Pokemons and all sorts of things. My son grew out of the Pokemons but hed probably love the x mens.
  12. Thats what I was thinking. I havent seen anything like this on the mints website.
  13. I agree with the others. My first thoughts was a button also.
  14. Actually theres more like 40 or 50 of them. I never heard of alot of them but this ones still in plastic also. Sorry my friends to venture off the topic of coins. I wont post no more after this.
  15. Thats very interesting. I had a bunch of old vinys given to me a while back. They are in very good shape. It was my wifes aunts collection from when she was young. Ive been wanting to look up the values of some. There are a couple with the plastic wrap still on them. Like the Jose Feliciano. She was talking about taking them to the dump cause she had them stored for years and years. Said they were just taking up space. Said they was from her teenage years. She asked if I knew anyone who would want them. I told her I would love to have them. She saw junk and I saw some very wonderful well preserved vinys. I told the old lady some may be worth something and some may not. Ive been happily keeping them stored in a tote. Ive been thinking about framing some and hanging them on the wall. Such as the Nat King Cole. Theres probably 20 or more. The Cherry Pink is signed. I dont know if its whoever owned it or an autograph of some kind. May just be the previous owner of the record before her.
  16. Were not talking about your coins. Were talking about the OP's coin. They asked if it was a double eye and we told them it wasnt. If your gonna teach someone something it needs to be the truth. Thats what is taught in the newbie forum when they ask about they're coins. The truth. Some people dont like to hear the truth and some people do.
  17. I got a couple. Eagles and silver proofs. That what got me concerned
  18. Heres what I found on the website. Looks like eventually they may make them where they will coexist. Id hope so anyways.
  19. I dont see no doubling on the eye and Im not gonna lie and say I do. I think it would confuse new collectors if we go along with them and agree theres something there that isnt. He said, " The eye could be doubled." And I said I dont see it. And I dont.
  20. Im just wondering what the cross over cost would be to cross a coin from the old style to the new. If they cant compete in the same registry sets together then there will be people wanting to cross them over so they can.
  21. Wonder how they would do + grades? Instead of a ms66+ would it be a 96.5? Or put a + or a star off to the side? Im wondering how they would figure those out.
  22. Hope this is allowed in this thread. This is the closest thing Ive got is a half dime. I do got a cc seated dime but its worn so bad you can almost see through it. I cant remember the date but its in a flip hidden somewhere in the house. Its a miracle you can still see the cc. Its very circulated. Photo courtesy by HH Amature Photography. I really need to find a way to get better pictures. Been thinking about trying to get a good camera. Sorry they are so sloppy. I just got a phone camera and it will not take a good picture at all.
  23. The Rockefeller is the one I need. Thats a tough one.
