  1. It may be a coincidence but the coins I own in the old green holders are very nice for the grade. Seems they were very conservative about grading the ones I have. I only own a small handful of them so it may just be those few. But for the people whos been in the hobby a few years. Were they more picky on them in the earlier years of grading?
  2. This one came from my good friend that the 1955 came from.
  3. Got this one with my Christmas bonus also for my 1967 SMS set. Im going for all NGC MS67 Cameos. All I need now is the half dollar and the cent. The cent is gonna be a tough one. In MS67 Cameo pretty pricey. I think ill get it someday with a little patience.
  4. My son helped me pick this one for our set out of my Christmas bonus. PCGS MS65 FBL
  5. This one came from a good friend of mine. Raw in a flip
  6. I sure hope he does. Hes very interested right now but I hope he dont become bored with it. Maybe he can improve it and add to it. Im hoping to have him a good start. Wish id started years ago. I guess its better late than never. Both my sons seem to enjoy it for now.
  7. Only thing Ive got of Lincoln is a handful of cents. Dont have many. My most special ones are a 1909 vdb graded NGC MS64 RB, 1909 S graded ANACS fine 12, and the 3 West Point cents all NGC. And another set of the W cents ungraded in the mint cello. Wish I had some Lincoln medals. Ive seen some very nice ones out there but they get very pricey.
  8. I know this is a coin forum but Ive been thinking really hard the past few days about starting a button collection. Ive been looking at several the past few days. If I do Im going to try and get a guide book first so Ill know what to look for. Ive really come to love alot of the various buttons from the 1700s and 1800s. And some of the early 1900s. Espically Civil War and Revolutionary War buttons. And some from other parts of the world. They caught my eye and it seems like something I could get into. Is there any other button collectors on here? I wont talk much about it since this is a coin forum. If I ever do start Ill make a thread in the water cooler about it. Ive also had my eye on the 1790s half penny condor tokens. Theres so many things Id love to collect. I need to calm down a little. Ive seen several of the circulated condor tokens at cheap prices. Same with the buttons. But what money is spent on those could be put back and saved up to get a nice coin. Im wanting to collect those things but Im trying to talk myself out of it also. Lol. Has anyone ever had that problem before? Im afraid if I get to out of hand my old lady will skin me. She will get her old barb wire stick out on me again. Theres just so many different categories out there its hard not to go after a few different ones. So many amazing artist.
  9. That sure is a beauty. Very cool to see a coin that old in perfect condition like that. Ive been thinking about eventually collecting world coins. There are some amazing designs out there. If I do I want to collect older ones that were sculpted by the amazingly talented engravers. I like a few moderns but it makes them more special when a computer dosent do the engravers work for them. I think its more of a piece of art when they had to actually chizel the designs out by hand. Even the ones carved in wax and reduced with a reducing machine are neat to me. The ones where a computer does all the guessing and working just arent the same. There are so many of the older world coins I really love.
  10. Im really thinking its struck through grease myself. I could be wrong but it looks pretty convincing to me.
  11. I didnt get this in back in change but a friend of mine did. I had him watching for W quarters for me and he knows Im a collector so he gave it to me. I thought it was a pretty cool change find. He got it back as a quarter from the bank.
  12. I like mine very well. I thought my wife done great buying it. Was happy when I pulled it out of my stocking.
  13. I looked on Google. I never knew there were so many different kinds out there. Theres a very neat video of someone showing how an Arithmometer from the 1820s worked. Heres my favorite from 2000 BC.
  14. When looking closely on the reverse it sort of does have that lightly cleaned look. Could be very old cleaning or something. I would think PCGS woulda caught it but humans make mistakes.
  15. This one came from my brother in law. He had a few coins he had in a box collection. Had a few silver coins in it. That was one of the better ones. The best one was a 2006 ASE in a box. It was uncirculated. Had a worn out Morgan also.
  16. Very cool. You got me wanting to research those machines now.
