  1. It works pretty good on old headlights that have hazed over.
  2. I will do so. I ordered some plastx. Soon as it comes in ill work on it.
  3. Yea it dont take much to melt plastic even with a cloth wheel. Just a second or two and it will melt. Ive had quite a bit of experience with them on other things. First go at slabs. The slab in question is so bad it wont hurt nothing if I did mess it up. Now the other slab aint bad at all. Im not gonna expirment on it any. Just a couple little spots on it is scuffed a little.
  4. Ive had pretty good luck polishing up headlights but Ive never attempted a slab. The slab in question is very bad. I may try a tiny bit on the coner and if it dont go right ill eventually send it in to reholder.
  5. My son really wanted this one. Watched it all week and ended up winning the bid on it. Figured Id slip it in his Christmas stocking. I lied and told him I got out bidded. I hate to lie like that but he will find out the truth in a couple days.
  6. Very nice. Thats a sweet one. I could see the bid going up a little higher on this one. Its got alot going for it.
  7. I remember now. You was the one who shared it on the other post I was looking for. That was the product. I couldnt find it last time. Ive got a dremel and some cloth wheels. Also got the sand paper already you mentioned. Ill give er a whirl.
  8. As I was looking through some of my coins this morning I seen a couple of my slabs that had minor scuffs and abrasions on them. They were like that when I bought them. One actually looks pretty rough. Looks like someone threw it in a junk drawer or let a 3 year old play with it. Very nice coin inside but the slab is very distracting trying to admire it. The other slab is not so bad. I remember someone started a thread on this a few months ago but I cant find it. I remember someone recommending a certain rubbing compound that helps remove them. I also remember I was gonna order some but it was sold out everywhere during the covid pandemic. Everytime I see that slab and the other it really bothers me. Does anyone have any recommendations to fix it? Or remember what the product was? I was thinking about trying to get it reholdered by NGC. Its already in an NGC slab. Not sure what the price is. Anyone know right off hand? I figured Id try a rubbing compound first. Couldnt hurt it anymore than it already is. The few submissions Ive made I always chose the option for the scratch resistant holder. In my opinion its well worth the extra $5.00.
  9. Its very cold here today. Dont want to go outside so I figured Id look at some of my coins. Ive been doing more organizing on certain sets. Id say everyone has their own way they like to organize their collections. I ended up digging all my quarters out of my safe today to try and organize it better. I seen someone start a thread while back asking about what kind of boxes we use. Heres what works well for me. These boxes are very compact and stack easily. All the TPG certified holders fit in these easily, of course except for oversize holders. The small boxes will hold 10 slabs and the longer will hold 20. I really like these boxes where I dont have much room. They are found on Ebay. Most collectors on here already know about them but for new collectors who are interested make sure you get the right size. They make smaller sizes also for flips. The size of these (the shorter 10 slab holder) is 4.5in x 2.63in x 2.55in. If you do use these I recommend getting plastic protective sleeves to put each individual slab in to keep from scratching the holder. There are no slots for the coins to rest in. They touch face to face in these boxes. I use the protective sleeves and handle them very carefully and I dont have a bit of trouble with abrasive scratches. You can buy bags of 100 sleeves very cheap on EBAY also. I use the ones that enclose the entire slab. They have a fold over flap with an adheasive strip that sticks to itself. This method works very well for me. Not all collectors may not like it and use the more expensive boxes. To each their own. Ive yet to scratch a single slab using these boxes along with protective sleeves. They work very well for compact space. You can also write on them easily with a Sharpie or ink pen.
  10. Ive got some parking lot quarters if you need them. Ill dig a couple out of our change jug if you want a couple. I know theres a couple in there. I remember seeing them when emptying the change out of my pockets.
  11. Ive had this one a couple years. Ill probably eventually replace it with a nicer example.
  12. One of these listings is a 53 P but the rest are 53s. Just a couple quick screen shots.
  13. They are all over Ebay for less than $200 in ms66. Non FBL though. Most are a little over $200 but theres a few very attractive coins in the $175 to $250 range in ms66. A few rough lookers as well. Depending on someones likes.
  14. Exactly. Thats what caught my eye in that listing. Thats why I posted it to have a little fun with it. I got a good little laugh out of it when I came across it last night. Just wanted to share it with people who were interested in it last night. Maybe a new collector will see this post and see what kind of sellers are out there.
  15. I think this one pictured below is more attractive than the one in my OP. Its not got the FBL designation but the one in my OP dosent either. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Im not saying everyone has the same opinion as me. The coins that sold over $1000 are probably very attractive and had some amazing toning that people wanted to pay to get a very nice example. Ive learned since I started not all ms66 coins are created equal. Lots of factors can make them go for more. But you can get a 1953 s in ms66 without FBL for less than $300 if you really want one. With a little patience you can find one you really like in auction and get a great deal on it.
  16. The main point I was trying to make when I first started this thread in my OP was the seller is trying to sell a coin for FBL money with a 90% FBL MAC sticker that dosent have full bell lines. And they are using full step designation. They said the coin had 4 full steps and is worth $60k in 5 full steps. Thats a new one on me. Ive been doing alot of researching on these and Ive never heard of fulll steps. Ive heard of it on nickels but not halves. Everything Ive seen says they are either FBL or they are not. I may have missed something myself and was quick to post on it last night. If I did I apoligize and would like to learn the truth.
  17. Thats amazing how much those Full Bell Lines add to the value. Id say the ones that brought that much had some amazing toning and eye appeal. You can buy them in ms66 for around $150 or so without fbl. Ive tried to bid on coins in auction that were amazingly toned and went for some crazy money. My main concern is this particular seller trying to sell them for almost fbl for fbl money. Also labeling them as full steps when theres no such thing. I missed the value a little on 53s with fbl.
  18. Yep. The price caught my attention. I was curious so I clicked on it and noticed they were talking about full steps instead of full bell lines. They said that one in the listing had 4 full steps and one with 5 full steps was worth $60,000. The problem with that is theres no such thing. They are tryin to sucker someone. They couldnt be confusing it with FBL. FBL is just FBL. Theres no number of FBLs. If its got one line missing it wont qualify for FBL. With a little shopping and patience you can buy the same grade coin as the one in the OP for a little over $100. Now if it qualified for FBL you may have to pay quite a bit more in that high of a grade. Definately not no $12,000 or $60,000 for a non FBL. Thats some the craziest prices Ive ever seen. So if any new collectors are reading this beware of sellers like that. Do your homework first. Just because people have them priced very high dosent mean thats what they are worth. Also beware of those MAC stickers. Ive noticed sellers trying to charge a higher premium with MAC stickers on their coins. Those mean NOTHING. Like my friend @zadokmentioned, "Its just sucker bait." If you read some of the descriptions they will hype them up by mentioning those stickers on them. Theres no such thing as 90% FBL. If the coin qualifies for FBL the TPG will mention it on the label such as the example below. Note: Came back to edit. Was wrong about my price for one that does qualify for FBL in this particular year.
  19. I just learned another one of Macs Finest. FSBK means," full split beak" on the eagle of a quarter. Ive been collecting quarters for a while now and thats a new one on me.
  20. If it really was labeled FBL by the TPG then it could fetch a few hundred more. Ive noticed all the San Francisco minted Franklins with FBL bring quite a bit more of a premium than the other mints. But theres no such thing as 90% FBL. Its either FBL or its not. I think MAC stickers are a joke. If I ever buy a coin that has one on it then it will be peeled off as soon as I get it. And it wont be the reason I buy the coin neither. Now CAC stickers are a little different. I will gladly own coins with those on them.
  21. That 90% FBL is something that MAC stickers come out with. They got all kinds crazy ones such as, "Almost full bands," for dimes. "Mac rainbow tone." "Macs finest," and more. Nothing that really means anything to make a coin more valuable that what it is.
  22. This coin is only worth around a $100 or so. Just guessing. Ive seen others same grade around that price.
  23. Anyone interested in a very nice Franklin half with 4 full steps? Even got one those fancy MAC stickers!!!!!! These are extremely rare in 5 full steps!!!! Hard to pass up a deal like this. I figured the title of this thread would catch everyones attention. I came across this on Ebay. Figured Id share it. I laughed till I bout cried even though its not really funny. Hope no one falls for this. To any new collectors out there there is no such thing as full steps on a Franklin half dollar. They do have Full Bell Lines (FBL) labeled on the slab by the TPG. Beware of sellers like this. Its obvious the seller dont know what they are talking about and want several thousand more dollars than what its worth. Also this coin is not rare. The S mint marks are harder to find in FBL but I wouldnt consider them rare. And this coin is not a FBL coin. That 90FBL sticker is a joke.
