  1. I like old tokens. I have one from The Bluegrass Canning Company from Ky. Pretty neat to see another canning company token out there.
  2. If I got one in hand I can guess the grade sometimes. I can get pretty close most the time. Im planning on buying on of the ANA grading guide books and try to learn to grade. I tend to stay on the more conservative side most of the time and end up undergrading. Ive took coins at pawn shops and covered the labels and tried to guess. Sometimes I hit em but most the time Im a grade lower. Im bad about just grading by the bad spots on the coin and not factoring in luster and good strikes.
  3. Ive noticed while putting together my set of silver Washington quarters not all ms 66 coins are created equal. I bought some problem ms66 quarters Im not happy with and Ive bought a few that are true gems graded at ms66. I learned to slow down and have patience. To make sure I really like the coin before I buy it. Ive made the mistake myself of hurrying up and buying coins I now regret.
  4. Does anyone know of any good history books about colonial coinage they would recommend? Id like to find one that tells the history behind the coppers minted in each state. One that tells the history about the designers, the mint it was struck at, etc. I take an intrest in that sort of thing and wanting to learn more about them. Ive seen books on google but couldnt find no descriptions for the books. By the few pictures provided it mostly showed pictures of them and the mintages. Id like to learn a little history in there also. Although Ill never be able to afford most of the colonial coins I still like to read about them. I may be able to own a handful of cheaper ones in the future. Ive already got a Connecticut copper in my collection I really like. I love learning all I can about that time period. Thank you my friends.
  5. Im not really sure. Ive never had that problem. You may be able to contact NGC and ask if theres anyway you can report it. This really sucks. I feel for you. Hope they can find the coin and it gets resolved. It may have been misplaced. Did you have tracking on the mail? Where it could be traced all the way to the auction house?
  6. I would leave it in the registry. If its under your name. That is your proof it was yours and its grade.
  7. I looked through at some of the sold prices his coins brought. Looks like he may have a little spending money in his pocket right now. Looks like they brought some very high prices. Thats an impressive collection. He had some very impressive coins in there.
  8. Thats gorgeous!!! Glad it turned out the way you hoped it would.
  9. Sweet addition @Lem E!!! Very beautiful colors. Love that toning.
  10. He had several very nice BU quarters for that price. Wish I had more money. Id bought several for my album collection.
