  1. I may save up get her a nice one. Ive seen some nice used cameras with all kinds of extra lenses and things for around $1000 to $1200. Not sure yet. May just get one around $300 or $400. Be a good birthday present for her this summer. I can get some use out of it to.
  2. He was probably 100 feet. He was smaller in the picture I took. I used a photo edit app to crop him up and blow him up a little so you could see him better. Its the same app I use to crop my coin pictures up with. The old lady really wants one those Cannons. She got a friend that buys pictures and makes puzzles and things out of them if they are good landscapes and things. If they are good enough. I figured Id use it and rephotograph all my coins if I can build me a small light box or something. If I can find the right lens. I figured Id try get her one this summer when work picks up good. I may get her friend to make me a puzzle out of one of my coin pictures.
  3. I found one while back like that and bought it. Ive misplaced it in this house somewhere. When I get more time Ill dig it up and share it. Its not to far. Its in a box with some tokens. Without looking at it I couldnt tell you which variety it is. I found it for sale and bought it where it had David Lange on it.
  4. I had him zoomed all the way in as much as the camera would zoom. I had the auto focus on but I shake so bad it probably couldnt keep pace with me. I got really bad nerves. On the zoom mines got a bar that goes from 0.5x to 10x. I had it on 10x trying get him in as close as I could. I also got an auto focus button i always use. It helps but this phone still dont take very good pictures. My wifes phone takes very good pics. Hers way better than mine. She got a Samsung also. One of the S's. I cant remember which one. I think its a 20. She just got it a couple months ago. I sent a message asked her. She said its an S21
  5. Ive been looking at those used Cannon cameras in the $300ish range. Some have extra lenses and things with them. Im thinking bout getting one this summer. The old lady been wanting one to take pictures of sunsets and land scapes and bugs and wildlife, etc. anyways. Do you think if I get her one in that money range it will be good enough for coins to? Or do you think Id have to have a more expensive set up? Is there certain ones to look for? Im completely lost when it comes to cameras.
  6. Thats been a problem Ive had. Soon as I get the coin where I like it the light glares off the slab in the way.
  7. I think it narrowed the problem down to the man trying to work it. I never could figure out how many whatcha macall its those pictures of that eagle was. Where I couldnt get it focused very well. Thats why I didnt get back to ya. I never could find it on my phone camera.
  8. Thats pretty cool. That was an excellent idea. Get it at any angle you need. Thanks for sharing. You outta put a patent on it.
  9. Thats a slick little stand. Does it work pretty good? That was a great idea. Thats what I need where I use my phone. I need something to hold my phone still and then some way to adjust the coin under it a certain way. And adjust the light. Im gonna start trying the 2 lamp trick. I think it was @VKurtBwho mentioned it a while back on here. Take 2 lamps with incandesent light bulbs adjusted on each side of the coin. Ive also been looking at picture boxes on Amazon you can buy to take photos of coins and jewlery in. Probably wouldnt be hard to build one. PS: Dont tell no one I got those light bulbs. ive got 2 or 3 from moms old house. Dont want them to come lock me up for burning a hole in the ozone layer trying to get pictures of coins.
  10. Thats also my favorite commerative coin. I got one those as well. Sure is beautiful. It reminds me of an eagle I got a close encounter with on one of the toughest days Ive had to go through. It helped brighten my day up a little.
  11. Ill try figure it out. Its got all sorts of settings on it but I dont know what half that stuff does. Im not the greatest with technology.
  12. I like both pictures also. I like the color of #1 and the sharpness of #2. Both better than any picture Ive been able to capture so far. Soon Im going to start practicing with some of @VKurtB lighting tips hes shared over the past couple years. Im thinking about trying to get a professional camera you can change lenses on this summer when work picks up wide open again. Wonder what the best kind of lens is to use? I mean like the size and all that good stuff. Ive seen it shared on the forum before but its been awhile.
  13. Those turned out really good. Very nice for a phone. I got a Samsung Note 10 and it dosent take the best pictures. It did alright when it was new. Im wondering if the lens may be clouded up a little or something. It could also be the man working it also.
  14. Reminds me of a close friend that lived in Mansfield Ohio. He owned a video store back in the 80s and it got robbed. The robber was a young man that lived a few houses down from the store. There was a snow on and his foot prints led the police all the way to him. They knew the boy really well.
  15. Theres a few Ive been drooling over. Im thinking about trying to bid on one. Gotta figure up what all I gotta pay up. Id really love one those out of that collection to add to my set. Im gonna do some hoping and figuring. You sure put an awsome set together. My hats off to you my friend. That is an awsome collection. Id say it was probably hard to turn loose of. But I understand how things change in life. Its none my business why you auctioning off but it prob hurts to see them go. That is an amazing set. Hopefully if all my figurings and calculations turn out the way Im hoping Ill be able to get one. It would be an honor to display it along beside my others.
  16. All we have are pawn shops close to me. I can drive 100 miles in each direction and hit a major town who has bigger shops. But the ones within 20 miles are all pawn shops. Most the ones who do have coins they are mostly junk. Except 1 that has some very nice coins. But they have completely lost their mind with the outrageous prices they have. They wont come down none either. They ask triple and quadruple the price of stuff you can find on the internet. I mean stuff that dosent have interesting toning or exceptional eye appeal that may bring a little more premium. They hsve some very appealing coins at a hefty price but their average coins are priced outrageously also. They have alot of junk also. They have a big bin of cull Morgans that probably has 200 coins in it for $50 a piece 2 years ago. Thats the last time I was in there. They are all mixed up like you dumped a few bags in a bucket. All culls. They asking quite a premium for those. Said they didnt care if they were overpriced. Said someone would buy them. Said they sale them all the time when I mentioned something about it.
  17. Very impressive collection. I bet it would be a blast to admire your invetory. Very cool. I bet thats several years of collecting.
  18. Its fine my friend. You done no harm. Its just that time of year when the weather messes everything up for outside work. Here in a couple months ill start adding some more to the collection.
  19. Its tearing me up. They are some beauties. Theres a couple I really want but unfortunately I wont be able to bid this week. Had a couple slow weeks at work. Money gonna be tight for a few days. I still enjoyed viewing them. I tell you that would have been something to been able to own a coin out of the number #1 set. But I gotta take care of some bills first. Thanks for sharing.
  20. Ive to a liking into a few world coins. Theres a few issues out there very inexpensive and beautiful coins. Ive ventured in farthings here lately. Victorian era.
  21. Seems like there has been several deaths around here where I live also already. Ive lost 2 really good friends in Christmas day. One one Christmas and 1 last Friday. Its sure rough losing good friends. Yesterday was the same day my dad died four years ago at 60 years old. I really hate to hear this about your friends also. Bryce was way to young. I didnt know him but he seemed like a very interesting person from the post you all shared. My condolences to all his family and friends.
