  1. Looks amazing in the pictures. Im jealous. Congrats my friend. Very nice.
  2. It took some hits and got damaged after it left the mint. PMD or Post Mint Damage.
  3. It would be great for new collectors. Maybe it will help them understand the minting process and how these extra letters and things cant be in certain places and what they think they are seeing isnt possible most of the time. Maybe they wont fall for coins like this one on Ebay for over $1250. What the seller is seeing is damage and not what they are claming in the description. I took a screenshot of it. This is a very important topic for this reason. If I sold something like that to someone Id at least pay for the shipping. No worries though. I wouldnt do someone that way.
  4. Looks like it was struck witha worn die. Its more than likely strike doubling. Cant really tell from the pictures.
  5. Thank you all for the replies. My problem is Im not a good pricer. I always low ball everything to keep from offending someone. Ive always went in the hole my whole life trying to sell things. I got some my coins out a few minutes ago and bout got broken hearted. Im pretty attached to most of them. Started feeling remorse on ones I was gonna sell and put em back in the box. I started out with about 20 I was gonna let go of and now after having a good long talk with myself I ended up with bout 10 or 12 Im for sure gonna try sell.
  6. Ive thought about it . Several of the coins I was looking to sell are in the $40 to $50 range.
  7. Ive got a few coins I have duplicates of and a few I dont care much for. Ive been thinking about sending them to GC and using the money to put back into better coins and ones for my sets. Ive looked over their website and I had a question. I know several on here has sold through them. Do I need to send a check for the listing fees or do they take it out of the money after the coins sell?
  8. I always had trouble posting coins. All I have is a Samsung phone. I dont own a computer. I finally downloaded an app from Google play that crops photos. I also had trouble with the photo being too big and had to download another photo compressor app. Its really helped me.
  9. I like buying certified coins for different reasons. One is it will be easier for my family to deal with when I die off. Another reason it gives me a decent ideal of what Im buying. Getting an experts opinion on a coin is a big help when Im limited to buying online. Id love to be able to go out and buy coins in person but I just cant. Its easy to tell everyone to do so if you have the time and money but if you didnt you would realize how hard it is to do that. Its almost impossible for me. Only places to buy from close to home are pawn shops and they want 3 times the value of what the coins are worth. They are also small pawn shops and have a very limited supply to choose from. I just cant get away from my job also. When Im laid off and do got the time Im to broke. Maybe when I retire one of these days things may be different but for now Im stuck in this position. And I just dont have the money. I love where I live but its been a curse financially. I grew up in a below poverty family and never had no inheritance or anything like that to put me in a better position where I can keep money. Its took me my whole life to pay for my house and keep it up and raise my kids starting from scratch. There are no big money jobs around here and theres no way I could ever afford to move somewhere where there was better paying jobs. When you have to live from one paycheck to the next you cant just hop on a plane and fly out somewhere and buy a coin. Its also hard to drive somewhere very far when you dont have a vechicle dependable enough to barely make it to work. Im not complaining or trying to get sympathy, Im just trying to show a better understanding why some of us have to buy online. Trying to paint a picture that helps them realize why buying in person isnt possible for some. That dosent mean I shouldnt be able to enjoy a hobby I love because I cant just jump on a plane and go where the best coins in the world are. Buying online made the hobby better for several collectors like me. Ive had a few bad experiences buying raws coins online. Ive ended up with a few problem coins that I couldnt see in the pictures. Buying certified coins has helped me prevent that alot. Ive ended up with a few I didnt care much about but Ive had more positive experiences than bad ones buying certified coins online. My collection isnt the best but Ive put together one Im very proud of that my kids will be very grateful to inherit. I really love my collection. Its not to bad for a collection put together from coins bought online. Ive got a few very nice coins I was fortunate enough to get. Ive had some very wonderful coins given to me as gifts from some of the best friends Ive ever got the chance to know in it as well. Like my good friend @zadok said, everyone is a winner in collecting however they have the means to do so and however the want to choose. I really like the registry also. I love looking through it at everyones coins on display. If I cant own them myself it gives me great enjoyment getting to see my good friends display some of the finest coins out there in their sets. I think the registry is a good thing for the ones who like it. If you dont like it then thats fine to. Thats the great thing about this hobby. Theres many ways to collect and every way is a winner if thats what the person collecting enjoys.
  10. Thats why I dont like You Tube. Anyone who wants can post anything they want wether its true or not. Several posters put up videos without fact checking and show no evidence what so ever to back up their claims. New collectors believe alot of that bs. Its one of the reasons new collectors post on this forum all the time coins that are garbage that they think are worth thousands. Just look at the comments from people on those videos. Literally hundreds of people believing the misinformation being spread.
  11. I bought a quarter off him a couple years ago that looked very nice in the pictures. When I got it in hand it was banged up pretty bad with bag marks. Looked like an ms66 in the pictures but in hand it be lucky to be ms62. Hes very good at doctoring up his images. I dont see how he keeps 100% feedback. I left a neutral review and it ended up disappearing. I ended up keeping it for my album. I shouldve sent it back. I way over paid. I learned my lesson the hard way dealing with this seller.
  12. Thank you for the better pictures my good friend. You can see those a whole lot better. Very nice coins also.
  13. As I was looking at a few of my buffalo nickels this morning a question came to my mind. I could probably do some research and find the answer myself but, I figured it would be educational to myself and others who dont know if I ask it here. I was looking at the type 1 and type 2 reverses on my 1913 buffalo nickels. Why did they change the reverse style? I never really got into studying up on buffalo nickels and Ive had this question on my mind for a long time. I was thinking it may have to do with the results after being struck or something of that nature but wasnt sure. Just taking a guess. My pictures are awful but they should be good enough where new collectors can see the difference in the reverse types. On the two reverse pics. The first is type 1 and the second is type 2. Most know which one is which. Im just pointing that out for new collectors who may read this so they will know the difference.
  14. Sorry Kurt. Wasnt thinking. That last one I posted really dont belong in the copper thread. I shoulda posted it on one of the other threads. I guess its got a tiny bit of copper on it anyways.
  15. My opinion they probably work better. Taking them out of one capsule to put in another makes a greater risk of exposure to contaminants. When I first started collecting I had a couple ASEs slabbed. I bought into the hype that it makes them more valuable from what I read on Google. Then I learned better on the forum. I keep them in their OGP now. Same with modern commeratives. I can see people slabbing them to enter them in the registry but I dont ever plan on doing a registry set of eagles or modern bullion.
