  1. Im not even on the same level as the other guys you named. Im still pretty much a newbie. Ive learned a whole lot the past couple years and learning more everyday but I couldnt hold the light for those few members you named. They got decades more experience than I do. I look up to them as teachers. Most the things Ive learned has been from them and a few others by staying active on this forum.
  2. It may have been. I been reading those quite a bit. Interesting stuff in them.
  3. That sounds good enough. The knowledge I learned from this post is good enough of a prize. I cant believe I got that right. I remember reading about that somewhere. It stuck in my mind. Ive not read a whole lot about nickels. I plan to in the near future.
  4. Im gonna take a wild guess. Im probably totally wrong and may get laughed at. Ive not studied on these but I think I remember something about using magnese. Im totally ignorant when it comes to nickels. My vote is magnese.
  5. I just passing up that one last night. Was waiting on them to put a little more money in there. Im gonna wait and win her Tuesday.
  6. AMEN brother. Same here. They changed us to conceal carry without a permit also. I keep my permit just for the heck of it. Makes it easier if I want to make a purchase. Dont have to go through back ground checks.
  7. They sell them all over here at home. Theres a store less than 5 minutes away that sells them. Got up and checked em earlier. Only matched 1 number out of all of em. Usually dont even get that close.
  8. I just went and bought some tickets. Hope i win but im not gonna get my hopes up. I have a pretty good feeling what results what my tickets will be.
  9. I cant tell without them in hand but just by the pictures the first one looks heavily stained and/or corroded. The second either has a missing clad layer or has been buried and heavily corroded. Most the missing clad layers ive seen has just been one side. I really think it just may be a heavily corroded quarter thats been buried at one time. Id have to see the weight of it. The third looks like a grease filled die. I want people to know these are just guesses.
  10. Im not talking about people who cherry pick top pops. Im talking about people slabbing pure junk spenders. Coins only worth face value. And some of the damaged common pocket change people think is errors.
  11. Has anyone on here besides me ever wonder how much common pocket change gets sent to NGC for grading? New collectors are on here every day asking if they should get coins worth face value and damaged coins graded. I know theres no way of knowing but I ofter wonder how many sends them in aginst the experts better advice not to. Or how many who send them in without even asking about what they have first. I bet its unreal how much junk change is surround by expensive plastic. Does NGC ever try to reach out to the submitter and tell them their coins are just plain old spender change of no value? Or do they go ahead and take their money and slab them? Cant really blame them if they do. You would think it would be the responsibility of the submitter to do a little research on what they are sending in. I know Ive seen several coins on ebay in slabs that I would have never dreamed of sending in if they were mine.
  12. II agree with jpm. It would be a waste of money sending that one in. Its not worth the money. If it is a strike thru or die chip its so minor they wouldnt label it as so. It cost close to $100 to get one graded with all the fees. You would have a coin worth 1 cent and almost $100 worth of plastic around it. If you like the coin you would be better off putting it in a coin flip.
  13. Im still not seeing it. If I could just see a few more pictures of it I may be able to tell. As for now Im keeping my opinion that its only a normal cent worth 1 cent.
  14. I would try to start buying pattern coins. Would love to start a collection of those. And older proofs. Would love to build sets of older proofs. Also would start collecting gold coins as well. Im still yet to buy my first gold coin.
  15. All the reverses are wide AM until 1993. Thats when they changed to the close AM reverse.
  16. Hard to tell. Maybe a coin wrapping machine. Its just damage. Theres no way it coulda happend during the minting process.
  17. Im still trying to figure out what you mean by smaller. Do you think the whole coin itself is smaller? Or the devices on the coin smaller?
  18. Your not a bother. You would be better off learning from a site like this one instead of you tube. There are many experts on here to learn from. Or buying coin books and reading them. You tube is a cess pool full of misinformation and pure garbage. The get rich off pocket change videos are a joke. They got new collectors out there looking for unicorns out there that are just not there. Theres videos telling new collectors to harshly clean coins and using chemicals that severly damage coins. Theres videos showing damaged coins telling people they are mint errors but its just damage. I can keep going on. Theres no end to the cess pool of garbage. Anyone who wants can upload a video of whatever they want and its very disturbing seeing all the videos of mis information. There are a few good videos also but if your not an expirenced collector then you dont know which ones to believe. Good luck to you and enjoy the hobby.
  19. I really like that one. Nice find. If it were mine Id submit it to NCS to see what that crust is around UNITED and if it can be conserved. Hopefully not PVC damage. That would be heartbreaking.
  20. @JKK is very good help with ancients. Hes helped me before when I was completely lost. Please dont hold the coin by the face. Contaminants get on the coin and damage it. Also fingerprints are very unattractive as the coin tones over time.
  21. Fake coin but it looks like it could still yet be silver. I could be wrong. You would have to do some proper test to find out or take it to someone. No collector value but if its silver at least it has bullion value.
  22. Have you ever noticed all the ones we tried to warn on here have never posted back the results. Wonder why that is?
  23. Its gonna cost you close to a hundred dollars to send it in. Not only is there the grading fee but, theres shipping, handling, insurance, etc. Also the extra $15 to check it for a variety or mint error. You have to still pay that fee even if it is not. If you dont pay it they will not look for one. Its only worth 1 cent. Like @JKK mentioned, consider it a learning expierence. You had some of the most expirenced numismatist in the world tell you its nothing special. When you send it in the TPGs are going to tell you the same thing. You are bout to buy youself a very expensive piece of plastic with 1 cent inside. Dont say we didnt try to warn you. If you do send it in please come back here and post the results of what you found out. Most people wont check back in and tell us what the results was after being warned about their coins for some odd reason.
  24. Sweet Morgan. Looks like a cameo from the pictures.
  25. They both look the same to me. I could be wrong but, from what Ive read, all the dies from these was made from the same master hub. I dont understand what you are seeing thats different from any other 1961 cent.
