  1. I will have to find a way to measure, but it feels the same as other quarters. The rim in intact.
  2. Yeah that makes sense. I've been doing some research to learn more about the mint process, when coins first came out, it's interesting how times have changed. Thank you for this helpful response.
  3. Thank you both for the opinions. I did see on another forum of ngc where it was mentioned about being stuck in a dryer or machine that can cause it. But I wasn't exactly sure. And yes for this to be 1942 it looks better then how I feel most days lol.
  4. Hi, I have been meaning to post this for a while, but have been a bit busy. 1942 quarter that seems to have the outer edges of the letters stamped incorrectly. Is this damage or is this something that occurred when it was broad struck? Any helpful insight is appreciated, or thoughts of how this could of happened.
  5. I see, which everything you suggested and mentioned does make sense. I wasn't sure how to title this post, as I knew more than likely this was something that had been seen before. I wouldn't have been offended if no one had responded, I would of assumed my post was of no interest, like you mentioned. It's all a learning experience for me, and I'm thankful for the truth from others. 'you won't know, unless you ask'.
  6. I read the forum guidelines, but it's fair I might have missed something.
  7. Yeah I just thought it was interesting to see. Is it okay to share images and findings as such? Or should posts only be for questions?
  8. I hope everyone is doing well. I have a dime that I thought was interesting, the reeded edge has a copper color and silver. It goes around the entire edge like it was pushed together. The dime is a bit worn but I tried my best to get a good picture.
  9. I have this nickle and I'm not sure what to think of it. Is it damaged? If anyone has any suggestions please comment. I'm still new to all of this, but most definitely want to learn all I can. Thanks ahead of time.
  10. That's true. Allot of people are in it for the quick buck. But I can honestly say that it has been years since I had seen a half dollar and when the lady handed it to me, with the rest of my change, I was shocked. But that also leads me to another reason why I am curious about coins, it's because it's our heritage, it's where everything started from. And if you take min to look at one cent, (1940 is one of the ones that I currently have), how many peoples hands did that one coin pass through to get to me 83 years later.....
  11. Thank you, this was very helpful. Searching the forums is a bit tricky, and I did review the forum searching tips, it's just allot to take in. With that, I'm starting with learning the terminolgy first, as that's probably one of the most important parts to coin collecting.
  12. Yes thank you it does have similar markings like the one on the link you sent. Thank you for that information. Well I'm going to have to do some research, I have a few coins from the 1940s, and allot of pennies that look stretched. I do apologize if I'm not using the correct terminology, I'm 35, and I had recently, started looking at coins for the years and just started keeping allot of the older ones that I came across. I even found a 1943 nickel, which I think is pretty cool. But yes thank you for the insight and encouragement to learn more..
  13. I see where you are coming from. And thank you for the help. I'll be sure to check out the other forum posts on this site.
