  1. Very nice JP. You sure got a very impressive nickel collection going. Your moving along great on it. Congratulations my friend.
  2. I just got the quarter in the mail today. In hand she sure is a beauty. Its everything I was hoping it to be. Its a joy to look at. Absolutely one of my favorites in the set so far. I cant seem to lay it down. I love the enjoyment in this hobby when you get new coins in the mailbox.
  3. Ive seen several zinc lincolns like that myself the past few years change hunting.
  4. I remember getting that when they first came out. It was around $40 on Ebay. I jumped on it.
  5. Thank you Coinbuf. I know I see that ghost doubling quite often looking through change. Didnt really know what it was called. I see strike doubling quite often also. The shelf doubling is the strike doubling aint it?
  6. It looks more like shelf doubling to me. Due to die erosion. Good luck on it. When you find out post back and let us know.
  7. Mom did have some 100w bulbs up at her old house. We used to use them in the basement. It was always very dark in there. I know theres some 75w. That old house was built in the 1800s. Its a 3 story. Looks like a haunted house. I may see if I can find some up there. I better be quiet. May get raided. I can see me on the front page of our newspaper. "Blood thirsty light bulb smuggler."
  8. Looks like MD to me but I could be wrong. Im not good at spotting them. If it is its a nice clean looking coin.
  9. Im not sure. I may one of these days. If I do it will be a while. But I may so it will be preserved better for the kids and grandkids. May help them keep up with it better. But that would be the only reason. Im not planning on selling it or anything so Im in no big hurry for now.
  10. Its in a coin flip. I really like the one you posted also. Thats what gave me the idea to post it. I been wanting one really bad. A really wonderful friend of mine gave me one and a few other coins. Im very grateful. Figured Id keep it in the flip cause I never plan on selling it. It will be passed down one of these days along with the story about Henning.
  11. I weighed several coins just now of same denominations and same slabs. Some were close and some not. Alot of weights were all over the place.
  12. You cant get a proper weight of the coin in plastic. Several factors can make one slab to the next weigh differently. Heres an example I just done. 2 nickels in identical NGC slabs. A 1958 d and a 1951d. Both ms66. Dont trust junk science videos or things you see on You Tube.
  13. If it were a pattern piece NGC would have known it. Thats a pretty big deal. They would have contacted you before they slabbed it. These guys know what they are doing. Theres not just one or two graders. There are several who each one inspects the coin individually. Several of the most qualified coin experts in the world carefully examined it. Its what the label on the slab says it is.
  14. Henning nickel. Had a good friend give me one while back. I will cherish it always. Really cool story behind them.
  15. Youd have a better chance at winning the powerball than finding a coin struck on the wrong planchet. Espically one in a NGC holder. If it were one they would have caught it. They are pros. They know more about coins than the ones putting these videos out telling people they got one in their pocket.
  16. Alot of them are school expermints and things like that.
  17. My mamaw was a bootlegger. No light bulbs tho. Just the alcoholic beverages. Ill confirm @VKurtBstatement. Dont know where youd have to go to find those.
  18. Very nice set. Stunning coins. If I came across a set like that it would be hard to let go of. I definately understand it being a hard decision. Thanks for sharing the history also. I never knew that information about those and I found it very interesting.
  19. That was my firdt thoughts. I was thinking it had to be a joke.
  20. If it was legit it wouldnt be made up of two different metal compositions. The reason it wont come apart easily is because someone put a strong adhesive between them. Prob JB weld or something simular. Definately a fake.
  21. I hope to have an impressive collection like that one these days. Id say I never will due to the prices skyrocketing. Wish I coulda started back in the glory days. Very cool collection Kurt. I would be very happy to accomplish putting together a collection like that.
  22. After I tore my sisters computer up I was afraid to get one. Several years ago she gave big money for one those Dell computers. I was trying to learn to use it. One those adds popped up on the screen. I said," Shoot yeah Ill take a free McDonalds gift card!!!!" I clicked on it and some kind of trojan virus fried the thing. She was very mad. I had to buy her another one. Since then I figured it was to much of a headache. Im afraid ill destroy it with one click like I did hers.
  23. I never learned how to use one. The closest thing to a computer I got is my phone. I cant hardly even turn one on.
