  1. ]Another thing I like to collect is tokens and medals. I dont really focus on them as much as Id like to. Ive been more focused on Washingtons and Franklins for the registry sets. I enjoy several types of tokens. I really enjoy civil war tokens even though I currently dont have any. I have several sales tax tokens. Ive noticed some of the older ones are very collectable. I mostly try to collect tokens from my home state. Espically if I can find them from local towns Im in all the time. I was fortunate enough to find a token from the brick yard where my grandpa on my dads side worked at. Also the same seller had a few tokens from a store my grandpa on my moms side used to own. I got the dollar, 50 cent, 25 cent, and 5 cent from his store in Grahn Ky. My uncle still owns the old cash register from it. He was gonna sell it to me but when I went over to pick it up he backed out on me. He said he would leave it to me in his will. Its a very cool cash register. Cant remember much about it but I remember seeing the tag in the cabinet it sits on said it was made specially for Grahn Merchantile. Also saw it was made in Ohio from what ever company it was. Its huge and very heavy. It still functions as well when you plug it in. Ive got a little off topic. But I will collect tokens from famous ferrys and transportation companys also. I enjoy them all. Also wooden nickels. I really like some of those also.
  2. Thank you for researching it for me. I am very grateful. Now I can write it on the coin flip it is in.
  3. We started around the same time. Getting serious with certified coins anyways.
  4. I took a screen shot of it if you dont mind @Greenstang Be very handy to have when Im looking through change.
  5. That was my first thoughts as soon as I seen it. Before I read the replies. You can see how wavy and pitted it is from the acid. Thats my first time, being a newbie, seeing the core eat out more than the outer layer. Must be softer and react to the acid more. Learned something new today.
  6. Sorry to hear that. Cancer has been very hard on our family. Praying for her and hope she recovers quickly.
  7. W Quarters: Sets I have completed that I really like is the W quarters. These were the very first sets Ive ever completed. I completed a whole set of 2019 in NGC MS65 and a whole set in NGC MS66. I only need one more coin to complete a full set of 2020 NGC MS65 and it is Rockefeller. I really enjoyed that the mint started, "The Great American Coin Hunt." To this day I still enjoy searching for W quarters. I have several that I found, friends found for me, and I bought. Most are in coin flips in various conditions. I bought all the ones that are certified. I thought the W quarters were a great sucess for the Mint and I would love to see them do another type of coin hunt.
  8. Thank you very much. Its very cool finding out the variety. Thank you for researching it for me. Thats what Id really like to start learning soon in the hobby. Start learning how to match them up to die varieties. Soon as I start getting older coins Im gonna start researching how to trace them down. Is there any books you recommend that has die varieties in them? I will probably be getting large cents more than others. We already have one. An 1802. Its a raw coin. Planning on collecting more. Would love to learn how to trace them down to die pairs if possible. This one is in a flip is why it looks weird in picture. No plans on grading it. Its suffering from enviormental damage. Looks like it may have been a metal detector find. Still very happy to have it.
  9. Heres my papaw from my moms side. He is the guy in the middle. He also served in the navy during WW2.
  10. Heres my papaw from my dads side. He was in the navy and served during WW2 and Korean war. Ive got an old medal that was his that says China, Burma, India Campaign. Im not very educated on it. I need to research it more. The medal is supposed to be his anyways. I was always told that it was by my his daughters which would be my aunts. My dad never would talk about him much. He was shot in front of him and dad always got emotional when youd mention him. It traumitized dad seeing his dad get shot in front of him at a young age. Theres lots of things I always wanted to ask about him but I never wanted to ask dad. My aunts have told me things about him and they swore this medal was his.
  11. Thank you to all the veterans on here. I am truly grateful for your service. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. You guys are the reason we have the freedom to enjoy this hobby. Hope you all have a wonderful and blessed day.
  12. That would be great for me then. We dont have any gold here where I live. Ill mostly be searching for coins and other things. Thank you for the info my friend. I wish we could have got to use dads together before he passed. We were both wanting to go. We played around with it out in my yard. We layed various types of coins, such as Morgans, mercs, etc., out and was trying to get used to it and dial it in. Then sadly he passed. His widow took it and has it now. Havent heard from her since his passing.
  13. When I get another its going to be a Garret. On of the better ones like you have. I just had one those little $50 junky ones. I still found some neat stuff. Found a military dog tag with the Lords prayer on it, a vintage cow bell, and piece of a copper worm to an old moonshine still. I had a blast doing it until it finally tore up. My dad just had bought a very nice Garret and we were supposed to go together but he passed away from a massive heart attack before we got the chance. He never got the chance to use his new detector. My dad would have been 63.
  14. Ive been to Lookout Mountain. We were working down at Jasper TN years ago and we took a trip there. Very cool place.
  15. Great find my friend. That would be a blast to go find.
  16. I love those issues. Arent those from Ireland? Or am I wrong? I remember seeing some on Ebay and thinking if I ever start on world coins Id love to do a set of those.
  17. I dont know if you can tell or not from these awful pictures. Ive tried every light source in the house. I need to try and get a good camera of some type instead of this old phone. There may not be enough meat on left on it. Let me know if you need better pictures and ill try and take some. Thank you very much. Be really exciting to know the variety. The slab says 1786 but the coin 1787.
  18. Its not that bad. We just got fairly mild symptoms. Im currently caught up on the innovation dollars. I usually jump on them soon as they are released.
  19. Another set I decided to put together is a set of SMS coins. Im going to start with 1967. I may do 65 and 66 later. Ive learned so much about them on this forum and I decided I want to put a set together. Im going for MS67 all cameos'. These short sets I really want all the grades to match. They are very beautiful coins and it will be fun to try to build a set of them. That Lincoln may be a challenge to get in cameo. Ive seen them out there but they are a bit pricey. So far I only have one coin in the set that I purchased last weekend and it is the quarter.
  20. Same here. I love alot of the Perth Mint issues. I love all their animal series. I wish the US Mint would do a series of animals. Maybe some deer, bears, moose, elk, etc. Also wish theyd do an insect series. Maybe a praying mantis, black widow, and things like that.
  21. Lol. Very nice coins my friend. It has been a zoo lately. May as well post some animals. I dont have any with animals other than eagles or buffalos. Ive been wanting to get some of the Australian issues. I really love those. I want one of the funnel web spiders. I love those. Also the Samoa spider issues.
  22. Thats a hobby I really like. My cheap metal detector tore up while back. Im planning on getting a Garret very soon and get back into it. The one I had was junk and thats bout all you could find with it. I found bucket fulls of vintage pull tabs. The only coins I found were all very modern except a couple wheaties.
