As a collector who has been part of this hobby for over 60 years, I prefer older copper coins that are Brown to the red colored pieces for two reasons. First, they are less, often much less expensive. Second, they are stable if they are properly stored.
A red copper coin could stay nice for over century and then suddenly turn on you. When it turns, you could stand to lose a lot of money. Here is an old large cent that is "brown" and also a Choice Mint State piece.

Well it won’t go well this weekend. I got the dates mixed up. I’m doing something for the day job this weekend. The fun business is next weekend.

What I am looking most forward to is I’ve conned my daughter into being my booth helper. So that will be fun. She could care less about coins but she will love chatting up all the old boring coin guys.

Sharann and Coinsandmedals  both live in the upper part of the state, but I have not seen either one on the forum in a while.

Having said that, I think I will send both a PM and check on them.

I used to shoot a little competitively (not a contender with the real pros) and my 600 yard gun is built off an AR platform. It’s heavy as heck for an “assault rifle” but it was built by JP Precision who also makes military sniper rifles of the same caliber. If I was going to kill someone that would be one of the last guns I would pick up unless they were 600 yards and not in a hurry for me to prop it up. And to be completely clear I did not intend that to in any way imply I am shooting anyone. Just making a point.

I would not spend the money getting this graded myself. I assume it’s a Philly since I can’t see the reverse, but regardless it’s a common date (actually really really common) Morgan in circulated condition. There is no error per se. Getting this slabbed would cost more than the coin is worth. Now if you want to preserve it because it’s neat I don’t blame you, but there are cost effective ways to do so. Everything from spending 25 cents on a 2x2 and some staples to a few bucks for a diy slab. It will be well protected.

Prior to storing I would soak it in pure acetone (not nail polish remover but from a hardware store) to remove some of the staining. That’s what I would do and I’m sure some may disagree so take it for what it’s worth.

I am trying to really build up my research library and would love everyone’s opinion on what the quintessential library would entail. Again this is focused on US coins. I think many people would benefit from knowing the  best resources out there, and admittedly for several series I haven’t had interest in I don’t know the best resource. So let’s hear your thoughts.

Tell the series and book. For example

Ive always been responsible with my guns. Ive owned them my whole life. All types. Ive never done nothing irresponsible with them. I took training to get my hunters card and also to get my concealed carry card. Cant blame everyone who owns handguns for what a few crazies do. I pack mine everyday at all times in case I got my family out and run into one of those crazies. As long as there are people out there that can do us harm im gonna try to defend myself from them. My kids are also very responsible with them because I taught them safety and raised them to respect everyone. Taught them right from wrong. I was raised around them from the time I very young. I learned at a very young age saftey and so did my kids.

Guns don't "sit around waiting" for anything. They are inanimate objects. Additionally, in America, they are much more likely to be handled by a responsible person than an irresponsible one, according to every legitimate statistic I have ever read.

Interesting comment from a man who frequently sneaks in politically motivated comments, and very often makes non-coin related comments, but that is a discussion for another day.
And I will contribute my comments, as well.
Handguns are used for hunting, competition shooting, personal protection against dangerous animals, and recreational shooting. To say that they are good only for killing people is untrue and shows definite bias.
Mentioning "assault" weapons shows the same bias. Surprising, since you said you took a gun safety course. (You didn't actually say that you were in the rifle club or participated in target shooting.) Aside from, in many cases, having a higher capacity magazine, the only differences in what the media and others call "assault rifles" and  regular rifles used for hunting are purely cosmetic, or to make the weapon easier to handle or control. They are no more powerful or deadly than a target rifle or "hunting" rifle of the same caliber.
It seems very odd that you would cite a fictional musical as evidence, and even more odd that you would claim that "the overall view <was> that there was no place for a hand gun" (sic). That view may have been true for this work of fiction, but it definitely was not the view of the majority of the country in the 1950s.
I am neither a member nor a supporter of the NRA, but this statement is also false. The NRA does, in fact, offer a hunter safety course. They also offer other courses; among them are firearms training courses and safety courses for children.

This is an intentionally misleading statement. The NRA does not issue hunting licenses. The states issue licenses. You are intelligent enough to know this, so I assume you are implying it to prove your point.

I could continue, but I will probably be reported to the moderators for what I have already written, and I don't really wish to be banned,
The bottom line: The Second Amendment was not written to protect my right to hunt, or even my right to protect myself. It was written to protect against an overbearing government that would try to take away my freedom.

I thought YouTube was the potential ruin of numismatics until I’ve recently joined a bunch of coin groups on Facebook to network. It’s groups of people all full of delusions giving each other reassurance that their crazy is real. I’ve never seen anything like it. And they buy each other’s crazy ideas. You can get a sweet premium for parking lot “errors” on there if you are so interested.

No telling what @Coinbuftop registry set of parking lot beauties would go for. That nail polish glitter one is a six figure coin I’m sure! 😂

Littleton stuff is usually as described, but waaaaay overpriced. They have a lot of tricks to package common stuff that appeals to the elderly for a huge mark up. They also have subscription type services where they opt in to get coins over time, which is a slow way to get their money.

Racketeer nickel. When this design came into circulation the undesirables quickly figured out they could gold plate these and pass them off as gold coins. Cents was added soon thereafter to prevent that.

Littleton produced some of these more recently as some of the junk they sell, which is probably where this came from.
